### Most mentioned pros

- The ability to swap out files after sending and set expiration dates has saved us from embarrassing version control mishaps more times than I can count.
- The main concepts within Dropbox that I liked was the secure portal to upload more sensitive information with my clients and additionally the ease of use for said clients.
- We use Dropbox DocuSend for a variety of tasks, but mainly for sending and receiving files from different departments that need to be in a secure setting, we password protect them and it always works perfectly, and we also use the tool that gives access to files for only a specific period of time to make sure that in any potential danger, we can turn off the link immediately.

### Most mentioned cons

- Organizing older files is tough; the File Management UI gets cluttered when handling hundreds of technical specs.
- Advanced plan forces you to pay for 3 users minimum, which doesn't work for smaller teams.
- The interface is functional but not particularly modern.

Having received numerous business plans in the past via DocSend, I was incredibly impressed and quickly decided that we had to use it to communicate with our prospective investors and partners. Getting set up with DocSend was fast and easy, and managing documents and communications has been a breeze. What really keeps me coming back is the fast pace of innovation with new features and ideas. Raising money is a top priority for many companies. DocSend is an essential tool to make fundraising a success.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5

- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Professional, flexible, scalable technology that makes every start-up look good and gives every investor a sense of confidence

#### Cons

Sometimes confusing to differentiate between content, spaces, etc. Sometimes confusing to figure out how to create custom links.

#### Reasons for choosing Dropbox DocSend

Combination of price and performance

#### Reasons for switching to Dropbox DocSend

Products like Dropbox and Google make it easy to share files and create links, but they don't offer nearly the customization available with DocSend.

We've used DocSend for years across all our external communications. The ability to swap out files after sending and set expiration dates has saved us from embarrassing version control mishaps more times than I can count. It's become our standard for any attachment going to clients or investors. The forced 3-user minimum on the Advanced plan is the only real pain point, but the core features are solid enough that we stick with it anyway.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Version control is a lifesaver. We've caught mistakes countless times by being able to upload a new version after hitting send. Expiration links give us control over what's out there. Use it for every external document we send to clients and investors.

#### Cons

Pricing structure is awkward. Advanced plan forces you to pay for 3 users minimum, which doesn't work for smaller teams.

We have used this platform off and on when we've needed to send large files confidentially outside of the organisation. Honestly it has been hit or miss as to whether they are received due to firewalls and I would switch if I found another good platform.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 2/5
- Customer support: 3/5
- Functionality: 3/5

#### Pros

It solves the problem of trying to email large files e.g. bundles for investigations, while maintaining security.

#### Cons

Occasionally the recipient will experience firewall issues preventing them from receiving the file, which kind of defeats the purpose!

#### Ratings breakdown

Fills a specific gap well. If you need visibility into how external stakeholders are engaging with documents you share, it does that better than just attaching a PDF to an email. Not a must-have for every team but useful in the right context

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

The ability to see who viewed a document, how long they spent on each page, and whether they forwarded it is genuinely useful for sales and client-facing work. Sending controlled links instead of attachments is cleaner and makes it easy to update documents without resending.

#### Cons

Pricing feels steep for what it is and some of the more useful analytics features are locked behind higher tiers. The interface is functional but not particularly modern.

### Easy to use tool for sharing sensitive files with view tracking and password protection

- Overall rating: 5/5
- Reviewer: Sapph L.
- Verified reviewer: Yes
- Industry: Public Relations and Communications
- Company size: Self-Employed
- Product usage: Used monthly for more than 2 years
- Reviewed: June 2024
- Review source details: This reviewer was invited by us to submit an honest review and offered a nominal incentive as a thank you.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

DocSend is helpful for sharing sensitive files that need to be viewed, not edited (where collaborative tools are more handy). It tracks when the people you shared the file with viewed it and notifies you, so you know if they've seen it or not. You can password protect the file link and/or make its link expire.

#### Cons

When sharing PDFs, it would be helpful to have the option to enable copy and pasting if needed so who you're sharing it with can copy and paste some details and numbers over typing them out (more prone to error). Not many other cons, DocSend does what you need it to.

DocSend is great for secure document sharing and tracking. Founders should absolutely use it for sharing pitch decks and confidential data room materials because it is secure and provides helpful insights and analytics about who viewed your deck. I recommend that you require viewers to submit their email addresses before being able to review your materials so you can reach out to them to connect directly.

#### Cons

I wish there was a free tier for founders who are just starting their companies and are trying to limit their expenses.

In the end, we choose to go back to another service because of the link issues (mentioned above). Outside of this, we would have but up with the link limits to use the added features and benefits of the service.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 3/5
- Customer support: 3/5
- Functionality: 3/5

#### Pros

The ability to track who opened your document, the ability to create "Spaces" which creates a one-page website type of area where multiple documents can be uploaded. The pricing is on point for Box and DropBox business accounts.

#### Cons

I wish you could rename the URLS or create some type of URL tag to know what the file name is. The URL uses a random string of numbers. When sharing links, you could easily share the wrong URL. Was also not a fan of the limit of link visits.

#### Reasons for switching to Dropbox DocSend

Looking for the ability to track documents, without needing to make a large upgrade to our account.
