Buffer Software

Buffer is a Web-based social customer relationship management (CRM) solution that manages and schedules posts on social platforms. It integrates with multiple social platforms, such as Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google+ and Pinterest.

Buffer’s “Schedule” tab enables users to publish online content at a specified time, day or frequency, even during offline hours. It also enables users to create a customized queue of posts according to different time zones.

Buffer’s “Analytics” tab provides performance measures of each post on social platforms, stated by number of likes, comments, shares, retweets, clicks and views for the pages. In addition, the software’s “Link Shortening” feature allows users to share a unique link for an individual update to track responses of particular campaign.

Buffer is designed for 24/7 access from any Android or iOS compatible mobile device. It also offers a browser extension for Chrome, Safari or Firefox for page sharing.

My highlights with Buffer include the performance management tool allowing for real-time measurement and modifications if needed. And they work seamless with Mac OS OS X. Get the plugin and expand the power of this tool.

Pros

Incredible management tool for an unbeatable price. Social Media is the most important Digital space you need to be in and Buffer makes sure I am always in the game. Their scheduling tool is a breeze and does the job. What I like best is the optimization that occurs Live when scheduling the posts. Every experience I have had has been a joy.

Cons

Not a huge criticism but a few more features would keep them ahead. Headline optimizer and Social Ad generator would be great additons. But this is a simple system with great functionality.

Pros

Very easy to use. The Buffer's UI is so easy and self explanatory, you don't even nee their customer support. With the scheduling, it keeps you in line with the scheduling. On Buffer, you can schedule all of your social media scheduling.

Cons

It is mostly for posting. With that being said, it doesnt' really help you much to see what is going on on your social media pages. However, that was not the purpose of the software. That'd be nice to have but it is not a huge deal.

Pros

I have used Buffer for two different businesses and might start using it for myself personally soon. It's a very intuitive, user-friendly way to schedule social media posts, and even the free version of Buffer is a useful tool. Compared to Hootsuite I find Buffer to be easier to use, and easier to learn to use, as well as far more pleasant to look at. Buffer easily allows you to schedule social media posts for various media channels, and having the browser add on makes this even easier.

Cons

I've been sad to hear about the features that Buffer is removing from their free plan (previously called the Individual plan) in March of 2018. The Re-buffer option (which allowed you to easily reschedule high-performing posts that you previously posted) will no longer be available on the free plan. They've also changed their link shortening options, no longer offering bitly link shortening.

This isn't a huge deal, and if you're planning to pay for Buffer anyway then it's fine. Buffer is really most useful if you pay for it anyway, since the free plan only allows you to schedule 10 posts in advance per social account. I have used both the free and paid version of Buffer, and probably will use both in the future, though I also plan to revisit Hootsuite and consider switching back.

Customer Service support teams are awesome. Only once in the year, we have used them has one failed to answer within 2 hours. In some cases, the interaction is initiated by the company to assist you in using their product more effectively.

Pros

Free or Premium the features are yours to explore. The information that is not available is stored if/when you switch to premium you can reach back and grab it.

Cons

Integration to Instagram is NOT seamless vs all the platforms. This may be an Instagram problem vs a Buffer problem, either way, it is annoying.

Pros

Buffer is super straightforward and easy to use. It's my favorite of the major free social media management tools. I like that it has a flexible queue so you can always stay ahead of the game. Even the push notification process for posting to Instagram is easy.

Cons

I wish there was a way around push notifications on Instagram but I realize that's IG's policy. It would be handy to have a larger queue but really, what else can you expect for free?

Pros

The best part about Buffer is that you can keep streams of social content ready for posting whenever you need to. It helps you train yourself to keep a consistent social schedule. Another great thing about Buffer is that Instagram content you post from Buffer can contain line breaks without putting "." on different lines in your content.

Cons

There aren't a lot of cons to Buffer - I would say one of the only negatives is their email marketing efforts to try to re-engage users, which I don't particularly enjoy. However, that has nothing to do with the experience of using the product.

Buffer is simple and easy to use. Scheduling posts and managing responses has always been a challenge before Buffer. Our clients have plenty of content and taking a couple hours to set everything up is really paying off. We are able to put the posts on autopilot and focus on engaging with our communities,

Pros

Buffer is very cost effective when compared to similar platforms. It makes post scheduling painless. The free plan is fantastic, but the RSS feed integration and analytics are well worth upgrading. Buffer recently added a pause button to pause campaigns when events that take place may make your scheduled posts seem insensitive. This is a great addition to Buffer and it really shows how much their team cares about the user and the audience.

Love it. Use it.

Pros

Buffer is a company that does one thing, and they do it very well. You can create and schedule social media posts on Twitter, Facebook and more. The best part is that they don't make you schedule every single post -- you can simply create content and add it to your queue or "buffer," and it'll be posted at the best time, or on the schedule that you set for the week.

Cons

It's not good for social media monitoring, just for posting. You can add posts to your Buffer to be posted later, but you'll need another tool in order to do community management and engagement.

Pros

I've done social media marketing consulting for 3-4 years now and I will always suggest Buffer to my small business clients. The platform is so straightforward it would take the most non-technology savvy person to get lost on it. The free platform works flawlessly and lets you connect quite a few of your social accounts, and I have never had a problem with the mobile app - and come to think of it I'm pretty sure I only use the mobile app for scheduling when I create my own content. If you're not sure which social scheduler to use when you're just first starting out, please consider Buffer. Their team is on top of its game when creating content for its users and keeping their community up to date on the latest Instagram API changes and Facebook algorithms. This platform is the real deal.

Cons

This platform is great if you're the sole owner of your social platforms, but when you need to move to a bigger team I would consider upgrading to something more robust like Sprout Social. I really don't have many bad things to say about Buffer besides that its fairly simplistic, but honestly that simplicity is what attracts so many small business owners to the platform. If you have 3-4 social accounts and post fairly regularly on a weekly basis, Buffer is a great product for you.

Save time on scheduling all the posts for all different social media platforms; learn which time frame is good for posting in reaching more visitors; Its link-shorten option automatically helps figure out the words limit in Twitter to a degree.

Pros

1. It's free if only use 3 social media platforms to schedule posts (can post 10 posts per social media platforms); if it's the paid version, I like it charges way cheaper than other similar apps even their functions are similar. 2. Everything on the buffer is clear and very easy to use, which really save a lot of time. 3. It let you the specific district (timezone) and suggest you select some good posting time for reaching out most visitors.

Cons

Sometimes, the notification function didn't work on time. The bug sometimes comes out that Buffer directly post tomorrow's post on today when you have a lot of posts in the queue. What's more, the report in the paid version didn't really reflect some useful or meaningful data.

If social media isn't exactly a priority in your marketing efforts, Buffer's $10/month Awesome plan is plenty. Aside from Buffer's great user interface, Awesome gets you access to their scheduling calendar view, which is a great way to granularly manage your posting schedule. You can also just throw posts into a queue and they'll automatically fire according to the weekly schedule you've set. Easily recommend.

Cons

I question the accuracy of the analytics. We had a Buffer for a Business plan for a few months, and when I compared the metrics Buffer provided to those of the actual social platforms, they usually didn't line up. It's possible that this has been addressed since I switched plans, however.

With Buffer, you'll be able to post and schedule social media content on different platforms and networks (Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Google +) in one click : the good point is that you save time, and that Buffer adapts the content of the published materials to the requirements and habits of each platform (it puts short links on Twitter...). Also you can schedule very easily posts on different platforms; also, there is a nice dashboard showing up metrics such as reach, likes, shares, and it proves very useful to monitor your community management.

Cons

One of the major drawbacks is that in the basic version you cannot post on Instagram on your computer, you have to use the smartphone app, which is not always convenient. Also, this app requires you to accept to share some of your data on Facebook by giving it access to your Facebook pages (by default, it corresponds to all your pages!) and I think that's a bit intrusive.

30 minutes with Buffer saves me hours of work each week.

Pros

Buffer's ease of use is one of my favorite things. The way your scheduled posts are displayed and how easily modified they are, is a dream. Aside from functionality, one of my favorite things about Buffer is their company culture. They are totally transparent in how your subscription money is spent, and all of their contact with you is positive and encouraging. Buffer is really something special.

Cons

I've had continuous problems using Buffer to schedule LinkedIn Pulse articles to share on different social networks. For some reason it does not scrape the header image, so posts go out without an image. I think this has to do with LinkedIn, but the fact that Buffer does not always work flawlessly in this respect--is frustrating.

Buffer makes it easy to schedule social media posts ahead of time. I'm able to plan out a week of posts ahead of time to keep my accounts up to date, even when I'm busy. The Pro plan allows for more posts to be scheduled on more accounts as well.

Cons

The Pro plan is a bit too expensive (in my opinion) I need just a little more than the free plan but not nearly the full scale of the Pro version. I've switched between the two plans depending on the posts I'll be making.

I use this for personal accounts and for work accounts. Multiple. It brings all of my work and personal things to an easy to use, manageable, mobile platform. It's a huge time saver. Huge.

Pros

Even with a free account, lining up posts for the week is super easy. All platforms covered (relevant ones anyway) They DO have Instagram integration for business accounts. Customer service is fast. They make it a point to talk to you like they are an old college friend. The longest I have ever waited for a response on Twitter for help was MAYBE 5 minutes.

Cons

Everything I have ever had a problem with they address right away. Can't think of any cons. For real.
