About UserTesting

UserTesting is a customer experience platform that helps businesses create tests to collect feedback about launched products and marketing operations. It enables professionals to build custom tests using a drag-and-drop interface, add multiple questions/tasks and streamline follow-up processes through one-on-one video interviews. With UserTesting's dashboard, enterprises can measure audiences' experience using multiple-choice questions (MCQs) or rating scales and export performance reports in Excel format. It allows managers to schedule live interviews with customers, record videos and share screens during ongoing discussions. Additionally, users can capture test results in video and utilize the built-in chat functionality to communicate with clients. UserTest...

Excellent tool to capture usability information

I have been a usertesting user for over four years and it has been a very positive experience overall. I truly enjoy the oportunity to use the software and to provide feedback on a wide variety of sites and services. The company is very professional and the tool just keeps improving over time.

PROS

This tool has great flexibility in what type of testing you want to do: Public website, mockups from various mockup tools, card sorting, task testing, etc. For the end user taking tests, it does a great job working in a wide variety of scenarios and platforms When taking a test and you have a technical issue and the issue is not on your end, they kindly will still pay you for your time, I appreciate that.

CONS

For the end user taking tests, it still has its share of technical issues you run into, but overall, I don't experience many.

The New Age Lottery

UserTesting is a great site to make side-income. If you live outside the US then it is much better, because the company pays you in dollars which would be easily a lot more in your currency. I would highly recommend UserTesting to those who are constantly on their laptops/desktops because all you need is to keep the site open and wait for the 'ding' sound while continuing with your work in the next tab. It is easy to understand and honestly fun to speak out loud about what goes out in your mind.

PROS

1) Your payment per test ranges from $10 to $60 depending on the tasks, the best part is that the tests are hardly going to take you 10-15 minutes to complete. 2) As a tester your opinions are taken into consideration by Multinational Companies, your opinions are valued here and hold some utility. 3) You will be given the opportunity to test multiple products and services, hence the tests are not monotonous, and its always challenging.

CONS

1) Waiting for a test could get really tiresome, because the tests are rarely available. The availability is so low that sometimes you can go an entire week without hearing 'the ding' sound on your laptop. 2) Qualifying for tests is another aspect in which most people lose out. You may be online when a test is available but it is not always possible to qualify for a test. 3) The UserTesting mobile app is not always going to pop-up with notfication when the tests are available. Infact, in my experience the app has never notified me about any tests. 4) Sometimes when you are qualifying for the tests, the survey stops in the middle because the test already has enough users to begin, which invariably leads to wasting the time you spent on filling out the form.

Usability Testing made simple

My overall experience with UserTesting platform is good because it was able to help me determine user experience hurdles which my customers were facing. So, I could combine those qualitative insights with quantitative analytics from Google and come up with an optimization plan for my website. Once I fixed those high priority usability issues, I saw a high lift in customer engagement, drop in cart abandonment and spike in conversions. Hence, the dollars invested in UserTesting to test my website more than paid for it.

PROS

I use UserTesting platform to do website usability testing for my own e-commerce site. So, I can know if my customers are having issues with how my website is designed or if its content is not relevant to customers' expectations. I hire testers through UserTesting platform at an affordable cost. And, give a specific use case. For example, browse a product detail page and confirm if the user was able to navigate to it quickly. And, once the user landed on product detail page, did he find the content per his needs. I was able to improve conversion rate and revenue driven from my e-commerce site through UserTesting.

CONS

I sometimes get test results where the audio and video of the user test is not of top quality. Because the user may not have the best headphone or microphone or a stable noise-free environment when testing. If UserTesting team can ensure testing equipment used is of highest quality, the insights gleaned from those tests will be more reliable and actionable for e-commerce businesses like mine. Additionally, sample size of user tests is sometimes too low to trust the results. Because only one or two testers may have tested a specific use case. So, the user testing team should ensure minimum number of test results.

User Review of App User Testing

With testing 50 sites, I would say that except the issue above, the site it very good to use and very simple. Its not over complicated, therefore very easy to navigate. It gives you all the information you need, and I have found that when speaking to the clients, they are all very friendly, respectful and happy to listen

PROS

The dashboard is very easy to use. The tests pop up with a sound and you can work through the qualificaiton questions very easily. The admin area is also very easy to understand and use to tell you how much you have earnt and how much is pending.

CONS

The thing i dislike the most is that there have been a number of occasions whereby I have qualified for tests, both $10 and $60 ones and when I qualify for it, it suddenly tells me the test has expired and I miss out on the oppertunity to earn because of a buggy dashbaord.
