### Most mentioned pros

- It is reliable, fast, and useful for managing domains, securing websites, and improving performance. Once everything is configured properly, it gives peace of mind and makes it easier to manage important web services.
- Great for protecting your sites against bots, multi-user DNS and access control to internal sites via the WAF, all for fairly cheap
- the idea that website will load faster and offers protection from internet issue, like DOS attacks. Because of the way it distribute traffic, it helps with load balancing, and improves reliably.

### Most mentioned cons

- There was a major cloudflare outage that happened which left us hanging (and all of our customers) for several hours.
- After installing, starts to act like bloatware a lot of times and many times won't let you use it until you update it to latest version.
- The website would go down because a lot of bots would crawl and the bandwidth is taken up by the bots and real users would suffer.

Great for protecting your sites against bots, multi-user DNS and access control to internal sites via the WAF, all for fairly cheap

#### Cons

The newer UI is a bit confusing on which site you are working with, and some of the features are a bit complex to work with. WARP could be better. It's becoming a single point of failure for the web

### Cloudflare for your small business!

Overall, Cloudflare is a strong choice for small businesses looking for secure and cost-effective DNS management. While there are some setup and troubleshooting challenges, the benefits often outweigh the drawbacks. With a bit of learning upfront, it becomes a highly valuable tool for maintaining a stable and secure online presence.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Cloudflare has been a reliable solution for managing my small business website’s DNS. I use it to host and control my company’s domain records, and the interface is straightforward and easy to navigate. The built-in DDoS protection provides peace of mind knowing my site is protected from common threats. Overall, it’s an affordable and powerful service that delivers strong performance without requiring deep technical expertise.

#### Cons

One common issue small businesses face with Cloudflare is the initial learning curve when configuring DNS, especially for those without prior experience. Misconfigured records can lead to website downtime or email delivery issues if not set correctly. Another challenge is understanding proxy settings, which can sometimes interfere with services like direct server access or certain APIs. Additionally, troubleshooting can be difficult when Cloudflare sits between the user and the origin server, making it harder to pinpoint where issues originate.

Running an ecommerce site for multiple target location is tough and delivering content fast is more than a cake walk so we are using CloudFlare CDN and now our site is loading fast in our target geographic locations such as USA and Europe. The integration is very easy as just hosting the DNS with them is enough and it can cache static content very easily. We have compared the result without DNS and this tool is giving us really good performance. Its a must for every ecommerce site and on top of it you can use the free cdn feature as long as you want with extra bandwidth saving.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

- Very good DNS management console. - Easy to implement CDN for specific sites or subdomains. - Very good caching of static contents such as images and files. - Many edge points to our target market.

#### Cons

- Have not found any such major issue with this tool.

Veyr positive on the whole, its fully intergrated into all of our web applications now and we very rarely see a downside to it.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

How powerful it can be to reduce load on your server and serve up your web content in a fast and secure way. Super quick to setup basic spam & bot protection, SSL Certificates and WAF.

#### Cons

Sometimes Cloudflare will be over protective with its security features and will change what their peraminiters are so it can lead to false positives sometimes.

### Reliable platform for DNS, security, and website performance

Overall, my experience with Cloudflare has been very good. It is reliable, fast, and useful for managing domains, securing websites, and improving performance. Once everything is configured properly, it gives peace of mind and makes it easier to manage important web services. There is a learning curve, but it is a strong platform and worth using.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

What I liked most about Cloudflare is how much it helps with website security, DNS management, and performance in one place. The DNS is fast and easy to manage, and features like proxying, SSL, firewall rules, and basic DDoS protection are very useful. It gives you a lot of control without needing to overcomplicate the setup.

#### Cons

What I liked least about Cloudflare is that some settings can be confusing if you are not familiar with DNS, caching, or security rules. A small change can affect how a website loads, so you do need to understand what you are changing. Some of the more advanced features also take time to learn properly.

### Good Software for Websites

Overall, Cloudflare delivers reliable security, speed, and easy site management. There is room for improvement but it is a good software.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

I use Cloudflare for all of my client websites, and it’s been a huge asset. Their security features help protect sites from threats and attacks, giving both me and my clients peace of mind. Beyond security, the performance improvements are noticeable—faster load times and better overall reliability. I also appreciate how easy it is to manage DNS, caching, and other settings in one place. It’s a dependable platform that adds real value to every site I manage, and I consistently recommend it to anyone serious about website performance and protection.

#### Cons

One downside of Cloudflare is that its bot protection can sometimes flag real users as suspicious, triggering verification challenges and making it harder for legitimate visitors to access a website.

#### Ratings breakdown

Cloudflare has been a great addition to protect our websites from DDoS attacks, as well as providing performance improvements through global content delivery. Once set up, Cloudflare works seemlessly in the background. The free plans are quite generous, even including SSL.

#### Cons

I've had a really smooth experience with Cloudflare. In addition to domain registration, they offer many options to make your website safer, faster, and more efficient. It’s everything you could want in one platform.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

In my opinion, Cloudflare is the best domain registrar out there. You only pay the basic ICANN fee with no additional charges - at least that's what they claim. It's cheaper compared to competition either way.

#### Cons

I wish they had a mobile app so I could monitor website stats and other details more easily. However, their website is well-designed, which helps make up for it. Another drawback is that you can't change a domain’s name servers without a paid plan.

#### Reasons for choosing Cloudflare

The ecosystem was definitely the main driver.

### CDN, Internal Network Security, WAF. Cloudflare does it all

My overall experience with Cloudflare has been amazing. While their support can be frustrating at times with making you go around in circles understanding the issue, in the end, they get things solved, and will often pass you up the chain to their Tier 2 support to have a personal connection to try and get things sorted.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

When we first used Cloudflare as our CDN, we discovered brilliance. Finally a CDN for everyone, with a freemium model to get your services round the globe at a fraction of the cost of everyone else. Be careful though, once you're in this freemium model, you're soon diving deep into all of their features where you're MORE than happy to hand over the money. From Network and Device security in Cloudflare for Teams to WAFs, easy to use page rules, Tunnelling, and optimisations for delivery across the network, you're soon using it all and using it all without the need for large IT teams to get it set up.

#### Cons

A few downsides, which are all related, is somethings things aren't quite working and you're not sure why. It seems the features of the system grew massively and more quickly than they were expecting and their UI and UX didn't keep up. Once you get on the chat and they explain what's going on, it's easy to fix, however for the moment, it can be confusing to try and figure it out yourself.

#### Reasons for choosing Cloudflare

We chose Cloudflare purely on price, and we've not really looked back

Well it's along story, I found CloudFlare while I was searching for Free CDN service for website. I was analyzing one of my website through GTMetrix and found one recommendation to use CDN. I knew that CDN is a costly service, atleast at costly as my monthly hosting service, so I searched for Free CDN service and luckily found CloudFlare. I explored it on my own and slowly and gradually I got total command on CloudFlare. Now I integrate each of my website's website with CloudFlare in order to hide the nameservers + adding security and preventing from DDoS attacks hence enhancing loading speed and overall performance of my website.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Customer support: 3/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Who doesn't love to have something as wonderful as CloudFlare for FREE? To be honest, I'm using CloudFlare since more than 3 years now and still using the free version because it covers all my CDN and website security needs. :) The other thing that I cannot ignore or even miss is the Free SSL by cloudflare for 15 years, isn't it amazing? :) I know that there're other free SSL services available on internet also, but I totally trust on CloudFlare so I always use free SSL by CloudFlare. It's really easy to install and has multiple options for the encryption like flexible, full and full restrict. And at last but not least, how can I forget or ignore the Speed Optimization features of CloudFlare :) The auto minify feature for JavaScript, CSS and HTML can be switched on or off independently so that you can never break your website. And the options like Brotli, Optimized Delivery and Rocket Loader is like cherry on top of the cake. :)

#### Cons

Well, nothing. I'm truly satisfied with the results, so there's nothing that I can say that I like least about CloudFlare.

It's great knowing CloudFlare is protecting our site from DDOS attacks. Their caching features make pages load incredibly fast, and their javascript CDN makes our sites load even faster still. The instantly updated DNS settings eliminates any downtime, meaning our users never even notice the switch.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Once the nameservers are set up at the registrar to point to CloudFlare, DNS changes within CloudFlare are instantaneous. This is a huge deal when moving from one server to another. Having built-in SSL is another great way to provide peace of mind to our visitors. By essentially acting as a reverse proxy, it keeps our servers' IP addresses hidden from would-be attackers. Their bot and DDOS detection is legendary and their basic analytics are surprisingly helpful. A CloudFlare hosted CDN, cdnjs.com, has countless globally hosted scripts that make site building not only easier, but it also ensures the end results performs incredibly well. It's been years since I've set up a site that didn't have some CloudFlare feature built in.

#### Cons

I haven't had any luck with some of their automatic HTML/JS optimization features that involve rewriting the code. I can see how they would speed up page load, but I've often found they've broken my site.
