- However, at the moment I continue to use e-builder instead of Oracle as I find e-builder easier to navigate and the reports are exactly what I need from e-builder.

It is a great tool to store large data bases of information. It allows you to store everything in an organized and friendly looking way.

Doing a base install of oracle DBMS is pretty easy. Setting up instances, tablespace, permissions, roles, and user schemas is more complex. However, having the skills necessary to do all this makes it easier. We also run Oracle RMAN for nightly backups, and transaction log backups makes our DR and recovery very easy to manage.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 3/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

Widely used software for the applications we need to run our business. With support options we need to ensure it remains online 100%

#### Cons

Ridiculously expensive to purchase and complex license terms and conditions. Support is painful to get to the right team. however, resolution for issues once you get to the team is quick and painless.

#### Reasons for choosing Oracle Database

We needed oracle DBMS as the primary applications we need to use primarily only supported oracle database software. It made the decision pretty easy at that point.

Oracle helped our business use secure filesharing, but wasn't great. We stored a lot of stuff on their database but I am overall not a fan. It was helpful to our company, but I feel like there HAS to be bigger and better and more user-friendly products out there doing a better job.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 2/5
- Value for money: 2/5
- Customer support: 2/5
- Functionality: 2/5

#### Pros

Had to use it for work. It was ok for filesharing, but I feel like half the time it didn't work anyway.

#### Cons

DEFINITELY needs a facelift in terms of its GUI. I thiiiink it needs to be more secure too, I feel like we had issues with security but I could be wrong. Seems old and outdated and like it should have already been replaced and made obsolete by some sexy new Google or startup product.

### World's best RDBMS database

Since I've been an Oracle DBA for about ten years, I greatly appreciate how well Oracle Database manages the deployment of the majority of the data for the company I work for. It also enables stable backup and storage of vast volumes of data and supports a number of programming languages. Oracle offers PL/SQL, a complicated but effective query language that is not simple. The world's most potent characteristics include data auditing, backup and recovery, data encryption, as well as the capability for data analysis. Companies that use Oracle databases pay for technical support services, which are provided by highly knowledgeable and competent Oracle professionals who are available 24/7. This implies that you will never be without a solution to a problem or an issue. Cost is by far Oracle database's largest drawback.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 1/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Oracle is the #1 reliable RDBMS database in the world. It is fast, reliable and secured. It is the gold standard in the database world. To scale how good is a database product, it will be placed in front of Oracle database and compare with it

#### Cons

1. Oracle is not Windows operating system friendly. It is usually built on Linux, which is not user friendly for most people. Anyone who wants to become an Oracle expert will take many years to become a senior level developer or administrator2. very expensive, not for personal usage

#### Reasons for choosing Oracle Database

Well, the choice between Oracle and SQL Server is typically made at the top levels of management. But in my opinion, Oracle is still preferable to Sql Server in the majority of situations.

Great experience using Oracle in academia. Concepts such as SQL tuning and optimization, indexing, cloud integration, ER-Design, SQL injection attacks, ... can be effectively demonstrated to students using this RDBMS.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 3/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

Oracle Database has been my number one choice when teaching enterprise application development. Although it is a bit heavy and not that easy to deploy, students can get a lot of advantages learning a highly demanded DBMS platform that really adds a lot on their resume. The SQL concepts are easily tested against the database using the SQL Developer software. Moreover, JDBC drivers allow seamless integrations and very high performance when using Java to connect to the database on the client side, or when relying on the Java Servlets and Java Server Pages middleware on the Application server. Using Oracle with Java based technologies was definitely a very compatible option that simplifies and speeds up the development process.

#### Cons

As stated, Oracle is not very easy to install and configure by novice developers. It is a bit heavy on low end devices.

#### Reasons for choosing Oracle Database

Oracle is the leader in RDBMS platforms and facilitating its use by CS students would add a lot to their skills and career opportunities.

Overall, we just loved this product. Earlier we were on mysql, but we are not getting good performance. So we switched to oracle although cost of license goes but high but we are very satisfied . No user can complaint us about slowness or any kind of performance degradations.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

What i like the most about oracle is their public forum, people are very helpful and even when you log a tciket with support they are great too. Now coming to functionalities, its notification, backup strategies, IO user interface how to troubleshoot performance cases and replications stratigies were superb. I can handle everything by my own. My database size is 6TB and i can just sleep well in confidence it will work fine and perfectly

#### Cons

Till now i dont have negative thing to say about oracle. Its being used my 90% of organisations and it has everything which is required by an application to make their app/website and product falwless

#### Reasons for switching to Oracle Database

We were not getting good performance in 6TB data size. So after migrating to oracle our app and websites are working perfectly fine.

We developed a lot of Java-based desktop/enterprise applications with Oracle in the back-end. Customer support was amazing in addition to the vast amount of resources available online to tackle almost any issue in installation, setup, development and deployment. Way ahead of other rival products such as MS-SQL Server, MySQL, DB2.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 3/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

The advanced relational database management features from transaction management, SQL query optimization, concurrency control, security in design, to cloud integration to mention few make Oracle a way ahead of competition in the RDBMS cloud database market.

#### Cons

Oracle is a bit expensive with a complicated licensing process. This is justified in return of the smartest DBMS algorithms available but still some more flexible cloud licensing strategies would make the system much better accessible to developers and administrators.

#### Reasons for switching to Oracle Database

The scalability of the database and the resilience of the algorithms available in Oracle makes it on the top of the list when selecting a production relational database management system.

The overall experience with the Oracle Database was excellent. I did my college semester project with it and my final year project has it in it too.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 3/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 4/5

#### Pros

1. It did almost everything I wanted to did for my semester project and what it wasn't able to do was always added in the next update. A pleasant surprise. 2. PL/SQL was so difficult for me . But still the documentation made it easy. 3. It's core is a relational database, which is a mathematical model and makes it easier for people from science and mathematics background to understand and use.

#### Cons

1. Felt a bit overwhelming in the first few days of its use. 2. So many features and syntax are prone to be forgotten. 3. Expensive if you want to use a particular or minority of features.

#### Reasons for switching to Oracle Database

Because it has more features and in my opinion Oracle is a much more trusted organisation than MongoDB.

It is the best choice if the size of data is too large and above 10 millions record of data.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 3/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

What I liked most about this software is selecting tree structure data by just "Connect By" keyword. It provides the most flexibility which you can consider.

#### Cons

Oracle database best performance can be gained just by installing it on the Linux Distributions. If you install it on the Windows, performance will decrease and some times Listener Service will stop without any specific reason.

#### Reasons for switching to Oracle Database

13 years ago when I switched from SQL Server, SQL Server was too weak in the manipulation of Tree Structure Data and also it was too weak in Memory Management. SQL Server could not release the taken memory after a short time. SQL Server also had a bug in the triggers. Some triggers after high CPU usage processes ended unexceptionally without any error message.

As a Faculty who has made use of and taught Oracle, Ms SQL, MySQL and Ms Access and Excel, I can boldly tell you that Oracle Database Management Software remains the best and to shock you that's why the biggest organizations in the world makes use of it. #### Pros

Oracle DBMS is the best when you talk about large data manipulation SQL/PL-SQL runtime is way beyond its counterparts such as MySQL and MS SQL. Another feature is the availability of support (API) for different programming languages. Programmers can easily develop applications using whether it be mobile apps, web based or other server based applications, Oracle is a sure bet. Oracle's availability, recoverability, performance feature is also an added advantage. The new feature that removes human error of patching and upgrading by automating the process is another key benefit.

#### Cons

Oracle DBMS may not be the right choice for a small organization just starting if they do not have enough money to purchase its license. Oracle license is really expensive. One other thing is that you will need a highly skilled oracle professional to harness all the benefits Oracle truly provides.

Here I am listing pros : it's a very robust database as compared to others. There is a lot of support and documentation available over the internet. Very secure Built in Administraion tools and customizable settings. So many drivers are available as it's one of the oldest database available.

#### Cons

Cons - The size of the software is quite heavy. Expensive It could be little difficult for a beginner to setup it and go through it.
