Elemento, questo, che lo distingue rispetto ad altri prodotti di analisi statistica dell’azienda, tipo SAS Studio, e lo rende compatibile con ogni livello di seniority. Il prodotto, infatti, consente anche di eseguire analisi mediante l’uso di codice, elemento preferibile da utenti senior per una questione di personalizzazione e velocità nell’esecuzione dei task. Il prodotto è caratterizzato da prestazione elevate, anche in presenta di una grande quantità di dati, è permette l’uso di algoritmi di machine learning. Cons: L’unico inconveniente che riscontro nel prodotto è il costo. Aspetto non banale per piccole medie imprese che potrebbero optare per prodotti open source per eseguire analisi dei dati, a costo zero. È uno strumento che ben si adatta a varie situazioni e nel corso della mia carriera, lo visto usare dagli istituti finanziari, da società di gestione del risparmio ed anche da grandi enti di distribuzione di energia, per soddisfare le necessità più disparate (stimare modelli, costruire scenari, osservare lo status quo) per consistere alle aziende di prendere decisioni data driven. Cons: Lo strumento è ottimo per analisi ed elaborazione dei dati, ma pecca nella navigazione delle tabelle, specialmente se di grandi dimensioni. Per visualizzare dei risultati a schermo è sempre consigliabile usare uno proc, più che creare dei filtri sulla tabella visualizzata, in quanto il secondo metodo risulta molto più veloce del primo. La possibilità di programmare utilizzando i ‘nodi’ ed il classico codice SAS rende adatto il software sia a chi è alle prime armi, sia ad utenti esperti che necessitano di maggior precisione. Le elaborazioni, inoltre, essendo eseguite su server esterni, con capacità di calcolo maggiori rispetto a quelle della macchina su cui il software è installato, sono particolarmente rapide anche su dati di dimensioni rilevati. La possibilità di usare il machine learning, inoltre, rende SAS un ottimo strumento anche per le sfide che un risk analyst dovrà affrontare in futuro. Cons: Ritengo il software nel complesso completo e ben strutturato.
