Everything you need for database administration
We use DB Forge for our daily work with SQL Server. Especially when developing database applications, DB Forge makes a great contribution.
PROSDB Forge is an almost complete tool when it comes to SQL database administration and development. Especially the numerous functions around the editing of data or the creation of scripts is excellently solved.
CONSIt would be great if there would be automation for generating (CRUD)-code snippets for for example C#, vb.net etc. besides the classic T-SQL scripts.
Reason for choosing SQL Complete
More features, better price.

Speed improvement
Overall usage. It provides what I needed for SQL scripts development.
CONSBecause I'm running on Windows 11 ARM (Mac VM), adding SQL Complete on top of SSMS slows it down dramatically. If there is Studio for SQL Server in ARM version, then I would consider to upgrade to that.
Reasons for switching to SQL Complete
SQL Prompt by Red Gate. The price is important factor for me.

Decent software - updates often break functionality
I use SQL complete mostly for its tab coloring, code completion and suggestion functionality. It does a decent job.
CONS-Updates often break existing functionality. I've had to revert to previous version a couple of times. -Support is responsive but often not helpful. Have an issue with code outlining disappearing. After constant back and forth, I finally sent videos of the issue that proves that the issue goes away when i uninstall SQLComplete. I've not heard back from support

SQL Complete - Intellisense PLUS!
I have been a SQL Complete user since 2012 and I have had very, very few issues with the application. It has always been part of my daily tool-kit when writing SQL. The application is constantly being improved, fixes and updates are delivered in a timely fashion and the company stands behind its product. I hope to keep using it until I retire !
PROSThe main reason I use SQL Complete is the smart auto-complete and intellisense that is the foundation of the product. I also use the SQL Formatter quite often and the Execution History function has saved me many times, countless hours of work when I needed to recall a query that I did not save.
CONSI can honestly say that there is nothing I dislike about SQL Complete, for the reasons I use it for. It works perfectly for my work.

SQL Complete is a must for Frequent SSMS users
Overall I would recommend to anyone that is a data engineer or is constantly coding in a database editor like SSMS.
PROSThe ease to create custom snippets. I also love that you can customize the formatting. It really helps with keeping everything consistent and easy to read. I find that it takes me have the time to open existing procedures, creating new ones. Hovering over a table name and getting its fields is really useful. So is getting the description of functions and what parameters are needed. It really saves time when developing.
CONSLittle things like when you update the product if you editted an existing snippet you have to go back and re edit it. And it can be pricey if you don't use SSMS all the time.

Useful SQL development tool
We're trying to faster and better code. SQL complete is easy to install and has an intuitively designed.
PROSI use this software daily whilst at work. I find the code completion features such as the Intellisense really helpful when coding - it helps me to write code quicker. The contextual list of tables or fields is customizable in size which is useful when dealing with longer names. The execution history helps to find code that I previously run that I no longer have.
CONSSome times the local cache takes a long time and does not show the current list of fields or tables.

Huge time saver
I depend on this software daily. It saves me the time to look for the full table names, as the autocomplete will reduce the selection list to a manageable size.
PROSThe auto-complete, auto aliasing and code snippets make my life SO much easier.
CONSEvery one in a while I need to use the menu to reload cache for autocomplete to work.

This is the best out of the 3 professional tools that I've used
The ease and speed is what I like most about this application. I use it, primarily, to write and format SQL codes. I love that it has an execution history. I don't often use it but it's very convenient when the need arise. The other tools that I've used, for the same purpose, is Toad for SQL and Apex SQL. It's been too long since I've used Toad for SQL but its performance was comparable to SQL Complete. It's setup and features, however, was too many and too complex. Code formatting with SQL Complete is instantaneous vs Apex SQL which appears to run in a separate process and takes several seconds just to format. I tend to write and test several SQL statements on the same page thus I find it very useful that I can execute the current statement that my cursor is on rather than having to highlight it first.
CONSOne of the biggest feature that I use often and am forced to use a different package for that's missing from this app is the ability to copy the SQL statement so that I can use it in C#. I format the statement to make it easier to read but want to keep that formatting when converting to C# so I use a string builder to do something like below. When debugging, it's convenient to copy the sb output preformatted as well thus I don't have to reformat it. Imagine having to do that for over 20 lines of code, it becomes cumbersome hence I'm forced to use Apex SQL which has the feature that I needed. sb.AppendLine("SELECT * FROM Table") sb.AppendLine(" WHERE Field = 'something'")

Great product with one minor flaw
SQL Complete works as expected. It makes writing queries significantly easier and helps eliminate mistakes as you write your queries. The auto-complete feature is invaluable.
CONSThe main issue with this product is that every time it updates, it kills the user license, and you have to log in and release the hardware associated with your license and then re-activate the product. This activation issue happens every time there is an update to SQL Complete.

great product, DEVART, just needs to fix the single license limitation.
PROSGreat additional to SQL Server Management Studio
CONSThe licensing could be greatly modified. I am IT professional who utilizes multiple desktops and laptops. I basically use 3 workstations and 2 laptops but I am limited to install the application concurrently on 2 devices. I was informed I needed to purchase additional licenses even though I am a single user. Very disappointed about this....I feel I am being taken advantage of.....
Reason for choosing SQL Complete

Good alternative to Redgate SQL Prompt
Speed up coding of SQL scripts
PROSIt is quick. The result grid functions (sum, etc) are great
CONSThe cache can be slow to update and I'm never sure whether I am supposed to Refresh Local Cache or Reset Suggestion Cache so end up doing both. SQL Prompt will complete the Group By for you which SQL Complete doesn't.
Reason for choosing SQL Complete
Results grid function
Reasons for switching to SQL Complete
Redgate is far more expensive and doesn't have the results grid functions which swung it for me

Rich Capabilites
Love it! I only use SQL Complete and one other tool set (SSMS Tools).
PROSWhen I first started using SQL Complete, it was only a few weeks after using it that I could see the benefits. It was easy configure and start using right away and has become an integral part of my development work flow. Especially since I started my career as a sql server database developer. Today, my efficiency is probably tripped as I've become a more seasoned user.
CONSDependency tracing; visually show how objects are dependent and nested together. I'm a single developer, and its cost is getting pricey. But its still worth the value the time of writing.

General Database and query development
PROS99% of the time, it is very good. It does what I need with most databases and formats code well.
CONSNeed Azure Synapse Serverless integration.Formatting can be funny unless zoomed at odd levels (this has been identified by Devart as a bug, but not fixed yet)

Great product for real SQL Developers
We write SQL all day, every day. SQL complete helps a lot. Also allows new employees to learn the system and naming convention much more quickly.
PROSIntellisense works great. The intellisense build into SSMS does not work for databases with a lot of tables and fields. Automatic Joins for ON clause. If you use recommended naming convention for your SQL Server tables, SQL Complete is awesome.
CONSAssigning keys to users. We have a team of 14 users. SQL Complete web admin pages does not allow me to name each user. Because it checks, it the admin screen could also have a last time the key was used.

It has been great, I would highly recommend to anyone wanting a great all around SQL bolton tool
PROSCode completion, tight integration SQL Management Studio, document outline for complex lengthy scripts
CONSI haven't really found any features I don't really love or find useful, but the SQL formatter function can cause some weird-looking code. It would be nice is documenter and data pump were part of this product.
Reason for choosing SQL Complete
Seemed to have more features for the money and integration with Management Studio, and of course the price.

Just What I Need
I have had a really good experience with this tool and I think it is fairly priced.
PROSThe auto-complete and formatting features are just want I need to be efficient when writing and reading T-SQL code. The tab and Object Explorer highlighting are incredibly useful to help me know which environment I am in, as being an administrator I have tons of access in Production.
CONSThe auto-complete fails to trigger in a few rare instances, similar to the built-in auto-complete in SSMS. Nothing Earth-shattering.
Reason for choosing SQL Complete
It was easier to use and priced properly.

Great SQL development and productivity tool with SSMS
It materially improves SQL coding development time with autocomplete, templates and other various code snippets. In addition the code formatting also helps with readability. It also enhances the SSMS tool with colour coding, saving open tabs etc to also improve productivity.
CONSThere's nothing I could suggest that could be improved.
