The platform lets teams identify the impact of their decisions on stakeholders. AppO is predominantly used to select and prioritise project portfolios. AppO can model all the potential investments in an entire organisation regardless of the complexity of the structure of the organisation such that the value derived from potential investments in any structural unit can be analysed. AppO can model the criteria used to select investments as an unlimited hierarchy of value measures, which could at the upper level be strategic drivers that are then progressively detailed and succeeding levels to include CSFs, KRAs, KPIs, Balanced Scorecard, and eventually at the lowest levels planned transformation benefits and production statistics such as volumes and process times. Thus AppO can identify when strategic goals will be endangered due to outcomes in individual projects or changes in production. Because of its ability to model an unlimited hierarchy of value criteria AppO could be used to develop a u... niversal set of value measures by which all investments will be assessed. If value measures such as Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) are included in the value measure hierarchy the use of AppO will provide the basis for your claims to ethical behaviour, Since decisions taken using AppO are statistically defendable then the use of ESG value measures can prove your sustainability credentials. AppO has the ability to analyse potential investments using differing hierarchies of value measures, as would occur where investments are made in differing markets or under differing market conditions, identifying the higher value investments regardless of criteria from an organisational perspective. AppO can consider an unlimited number of opinions of what constitutes value identifying the relative importance of value measures to each stakeholder or stakeholder group. AppO can then "fuse" opinions to a logical consensus position lies identify where compromise might need to occur if all stakeholders are to support the investments. Thus, individual key stakeholders can be fused into a consensus position and potential investments analysed under the individual opinions and the consensus to identify the impact of each on investment recommendations. AppO can accommodate multiple assessments of the likely outcomes of each investment and can "fuse" assessments in to a consensus position, again allowing for the potential investments to be analysed under each individual assessment and the consensus to understand the impact of each. AppO can also fuse on "best case" and "worst case" to allow for sensitivity analysis. If value measures include the cost of each investment AppO can identify spending at any level in the value measure hierarchy and show if the spending is balanced with the importance of the value measure. Were we going to outsource, build from scratch, acquire pre-built and fit-out? When we laid out the basis of the decision we found we had over 100 selection criteria many of which were intangible. AppO made light work of the problem and we were even able to identify a series of fall-back strategies on project options. We set the upper level priorities at an executive level and our production managers and construction advisers to populate the rest.
