Lots of Potential - No Thought For the People Using It

I'm doing script testing on INFOR prior to our replacement of Lawson and PeopleSoft with the integrated INFOR ERP. Product support while script testing is good, and the interfaces are straightforward. However, the platform itself offers system administrators with very limited flexibility, no "proxy" rights to help users solve problems, and a non-instinctive approach to strategic goal management that is hardwired into a particular philosophical approach that is not shared by all organizations. And no, you can't do anything about it later. You're stuck.

Pros

Non-instinctive branching
Quirky workflow requirements that allow little administrator customization
Multiple confusing ways to the same end result, with several 'traps', that inexperienced end-users will get caught up in - with no way for system administrators to rescue them besides deleting entire processes and telling users to start from scratch.

Lacking a straight forward POS interface

I have been using this product for over 2 years now and while it has gotten less frustrating over the years, I still find it aggravating that I have to enter each item by hand instead of using a scanner for the 95% of our products that have a UPC. Also the way in which we cannot take a payment in full without refunding the cost of items that are not leaving with the customer at that moment is also frustrating.

Pros

It is nice that have all of the features that are offered contained within once single piece of software.

Cons

I just wish that the part of that large group of functions that I had to use every day wasn't the pint of sale side of the software. It make my life very frustrating at times.

infor10 SX.E performance

I do sales with this product. Ordering, checking stock, cutting PO's, checking prices, etc.

Pros

This software is very flexible, Once setup placing an order is fairly simple, cutting po's to a sales order is also fairly to the point.

Cons

This software is very complex, giving it a lot of flexibility for different types of businesses. Because of this the learning curve and the ability to find what you need can be frustrating at times when you start, have a good programmer to help setup is a must.

Curtis Restaurant Equipment

I use this product on a daily basis. It functions well for what we need. Our company uses it for accounting, inventory, invoice/purchase order generation, and as at point of sale. It is something that works moderately well for all uses, without having to operate different software across multiple departments and branches.

Pros

It makes viewing information relatively easy, once you are inundated with the software.

Cons

There have been a few bugs with the updates that have shut us down for up to half a day. That's huge when you can't run a transaction, and the customer is trying to buy product.

Infor Distribution Sx.E

Sx.E software has a lot to offer, but it seams to be center only around the accounting side and is lacking on the user friendly side for Sales, purchasing, and inventory. I believe we started off on the wrong foot with some sub-par training which trickled down to frustration from employees and inability to adjust to changes.We are currently 3 years into the program and have been slowly tackling the obstacles that we have encountered. Constantly needing to make adjustments to the software coding and to the way that we work our processes. It is getting better and better each week, but still frustration to all staff that we are still dealing with improvements three years into it. I think that Sx.E has a lot to offer and can be a great program as long as the proper training is implemented and gets everyone on board with the change.

Pros

They are trying to implement a web based user interface (hopefully available by Spring 2017). I believe that this will make a huge difference in the ease of using the program for non-accounting personnel.

Cons

Overall training on implementation concentrated to heavily on accounting and left the rest of the company to fend for themselves.
