Handshake is an e-commerce and order management platform for small and midsize manufacturers and distributors. The solution can help users search for new customers, explore new geographies for sales, monitor customer engagements and manage retailers.

Users can upload custom branding such as logos, taglines and images, build product catalogs and create separate catalog pages. Handshake displays real-time stock inventory, and stock availability is updated after every sale or return. A dedicated portal for retailers allows them to see their order history, place new orders, track shipments, make payments and more.

Handshake also allows businesses to create promotional and landing pages that can be shared with retailers via email to promote a specific product and sales campaigns. Handshake integrates with third-party applications such as NetSuite, QuickBooks, Salesforce and MS Dynamics.

The solution is available with a per user per month subscription which includes customer support via phone, web and live chat.

    Great hiring software for college students

    Just started using this in the last year at the college I work at for our work study students. They can apply and provide the requested documentation through this software. Previously students were assigned to us and we didn't have the opportunity to see their qualifications and/or have the chance to interview them. It's a much better system for hiring than the previous one we were required to use.

    Pros

    Can post more information about my office and positions we have open. Can review student applications and other requested documents online.

    Cons

    Haven't used it enough to figure out any cons, still learning as I use it.

    This is a great tool for allowing your B2B sales to be more efficient, this product also makes ordering easier for customers and supports offline orders. The ability to also be able to use Web, tablet apps, phone apps allows for the focus to be on the client or customer.

    Pros

    The ability to reduce the need for manual data entry is priceless.

    Cons

    Some of the back end processes aren't clearly explained and support is sometimes delayed in there response.

    Overall this is excellent software, I highly recommend it to any traveling sales reps or anyone working sales in a high-paced environment where efficiency is king.

    Pros

    Very quick, simple, and efficient to create orders. Great for sales reps on the road, which is primarily were I used this software and saw it being used by others. Could be a little pricey depending on your sales volume, but many will able to get way more than their money's worth out of it.

    Cons

    I've had some software updates/syncs/etc load a bit slow at times. It's crashed before as well, but nothing out of the ordinary, I've used WAY worse software in my day, just nit picking so I can fill out the cons field.

    The features I have used are free, so that's always a plus. I am able to add a lot of detail and upload as many jobs as I'd like.

    Cons

    Not every school is free to post. There are some that you have to pay extra to reach their students and alumni.

    We don't recommend Handshake.

    Pros

    We Started to use Handshake about 3 years ago. At first, their customer and support service was very responsive and we had no major problem for the first 3 months in 2018.

    Cons

    We are using Handshake for about 3 years. It is an everyday battle. It takes a lot of time from us to navigate the issues and their customer service is not responsive at all. Especially from May 2018, nobody is answering our calls in their support team. And when we email our issues, it takes more than 2 weeks to get resolved. Right now we are experiencing lots of issues from June and many of the critical ones are still unsolved.
    Most of the issues are about the Handshake Direct. We have product missing in different customer groups. We have syncing issues & .......

    Handshake is a slick, familiar interface on top of a highly manageable back-end hub. We chose this application in order to have static content not relying on an internet connection, and we stayed for the extensive customization and the well-written API.

    Cons

    Handshake billing has proven to be quite inflexible about subscription and payment. If we pay on a yearly term, they outright refused a proration on accounts that we no longer find necessary.
    Managing incoming orders proves to be burdensome on staff - we could use more *required fields and validation options to ensure that we are collecting the correct info on the front end.

    We would also love to authorize cards on the go.

    It's the best way to promote the company and post career opportunities throughout all the schools within the system, which offers a huge list of schools. You can also chose criteria of schools based on location, major, etc. This saves so much time, instead of creating an account through each college.

    Easy to navigate, order history is convenient, order copies offer thumbnail color images, wonderful for tracking orders at various tradeshows.

    Wish past orders remained on system for longer time period. Have had some issues with loading credit card numbers.

    easily handles orders with all contact info stored for repeat customers, as well as order history, makes running a buisness just a bit easier

    simmilar names can cause a bit of confusion but with a diligent eye and attention all errors can be avoided

    HS is very easy to be mobile with it. HS allows use without having internet which is great for our company.

    Cons

    Way to many bugs/issues. How does tax not come standard on a sales order app/system??? Then was sent info on how to write the tax syntax myself. Then tax didn't show up on the mobile devices or it had 6 or so lines duplicated of the tax rate and took two months to get it straight. Have to create & maintain multiple lists just keep accurate taxes for customers. Random deleted orders, duplicate customers on mobile devices. One salesman's orders for one customer keep saying the customer was deleted but that customer is clearly in the system. HS doesn't completely update with QB on unit prices. HS doesn't have a profile for users to have their info show on their sales orders. Barcode import didn't work so had to change each manually after customer support didn't have a solution. It defaults to color printing and no way to change the default to black. Always wants to print two pages even if the order is less than half a page long. I have been in pretty constant contact with the customer support team since we started using because of all these issues.

    access to a lot of career services with my school, and access to lots of job postings from hundreds of employers.

    Pros

    I like the clean, easy-to-use design! Before we started using Handshake, we used another career services management platform that was more frustrating to use. Handshake is simple and has unique features, like the ability to see your profile as an employer would.

    Cons

    I do not like the help videos designed for Career Services workers, employers, and students. I have reviewed these videos thoroughly as part of my training, and they are too long, mundane, and often too blurry to see what the narrator is doing.

    Pros

    I like most about eliminating double entry of orders. It connects automatically into our accounting software. It's great to take the app as our catalog and skim through the products with a breeze. Being able to email the customer the copy of the order with the images is a great feature.

    Cons

    When syncing, it's hard to troubleshoot what could cause the error. The system doesn't tell us exactly what is causing the sync error. UPC numbers has input manually. It doesn't sync with the accounting software automatically. Also new items takes longer to setup due to manual UPC update.

    Handshake is an awesome tool for employers, career services offices and college recruiters. It's very helpful for us.

    Cons

    The notification system sometimes bothers me. When you log in to your account (no matter what profile you're on if you have multiple), company-wide notifications will remain as new.

    you can see what item you are entering and if it is in stock or not. You can go back and correct orders or add to orders on a timeley basis.

    Sometimes it can be slow finding groups or styles set up in the system. Finding customers can be slow at times.

    Needs work. With the application that we USA, the pictures should be sharper for color separation and the product names, sizes and inventory availability should be on one page to expedite ordering.

    It saves me a lot of time in placing my orders and I like that it gives me a total for my order right away.

    Pros

    I like the ease of finding products by category and brands, I often skip ordering from another vendor because using handshake will save me time.

    Cons

    I don't like that when using the camera feature I have to press camera before every use, I would be happier if after each scan it would just automatically go to my camera.

    Able to fix mistakes easily. Can change and duplicate orders in a flash. It flows extremely well with between customers and inventory.

    They added the ability to take notes on a customer...so nothing comes to mind. The fact that there are constant updates, means that it is constantly improving.

    Seems like the program "freezes" on occasion, unable to open an existing order. Only retains orders for approx. 60 days
