Email Protection implemented the Easy Way
The email security helps to prevent data-leaks by emailing the wrong persons and to send emails safely. The best user experience is within a windows environment. Our administrators needed some time to learn the behavior of the application to help our end-users. A lot of the Egress templates are customizable with help of Egress support.
PROSThe Proof of Value was easily implemented and moving from POV to production was done with help of Egress support. We implemented the solution step by step to minimize impact on the organisation. All feedback from the organisation was absorbed by Egress in such a way that they fixed each 'issue' the end user experienced. The application has lot's of possibilities.
CONSRoll out of the application -> Registry Keys need to be imported under local user-profile. Mac users are not supported with the Outlook Plugin Not suitable for big-bang implementation (incremental implementation necessary) Learning curve of the application takes some time. End-User manuals needed to be customized by the customer. Manuals are available but not directly suitable for end-users. (Perfect for administrators)
Reason for choosing Egress Protect
Great support, excellent pricing.

Egress Intelligent Email Security - Does what it says
No issues so far, it's a product we needed and implemented fairly swiftly with help from Egress themselves.
PROSHighly customisable. Setting up different rules e.g. Encrypt highly confidential on device or to certain users. Flagging up of suspicious email senders, new recipients or potential data loss by sending to an incorrect address is a great feature. TLS checks to make sure security is in place.
CONSDoes have a bit of an impact on Outlook e.g. Sending an email takes a second or so longer now and starting up Outlook can take a few more seconds. Minor issues but sometimes it disables the addin due to taking too long to load (5+ seconds). There are various registry fixes in place that look to have done their job so that it's not disabled.
Reason for choosing Egress Protect
Proven track record, service similar clients, secure and good customer service.

Poor feature set and workflow with long term downsides and liabilities
If you are using Egress for occasional transmission of sensitive information then it has a use but if used for general communication then it is poorly designed and written. It would be far better for egress to host the email content on their servers and allow access to them providing the relevant search tools etc. Using Egress on a daily basis not only wastes inordinate amounts of time but also causes significant problems trying to locate record of communications which have long term negative effects.
PROSIt adds a modicum of security but with a significant overhead.
CONSThe workflow of this product for an external vendor is atrocious. • Reading a simple replay such as “thanks” turns into a longwinded process of opening webpages and logging in. • Email management becomes a nightmare. A frequent user of Egress emails you some important information, good luck ever finding that again with no search facilities and impossible to quickly scan emails. • There is a potential legal issue going forward if you reply using egress since the Egress account holder effectively has a lock on the record of your communication if they remove your Egress account. So for example if a client requests in an email for work to be performed in a certain way then the recipient of that order would have no way to find or read that communication potentially years later. The web client is glitchy.- • Replying to an email frequently leaves the recipient names blank meaning you have to close tab and try again. • It can also conflict with other local security protection, again requiring multiple attempts to reply. • Has a habit of disabling send, losing the email content you have just written. • The outlook plugin seems to provide little additional functionality but does also add additional faults such as complete inability to reply. From a security perspective it actively encourages the clicking of links in emails to the extent of being a phishing scammer’s dream.

Egress email security
Email security remains one of our biggest data protection risks and Egress is helping us address those with a combination of encryption, monitoring and intelligent email handling,
PROSThe combination of the different technologies have made sending o emails safer across the organisation. The customisation options are key, and it has been good to work with the team on some specific developments that enable integration with our systems.
CONSThe software is good, although the constant renaming of the products can get confusing. We have had some issues with the integration with some of our systems although these are being worked though

Easy to use with Outlook
The fact that it is fully integrated with Outlook. The Outlook add-on makes it easy to send encrypted emails, just a click of a button. You can also track if a recipient has received and accessed the email, and revoke access if necessary.
CONSEveryone, including recipients need to register with Egress and be logged into their account in order to access/respond to emails. Not easy for for those who are computer illiterate and can be very time consuming. It also automatically changes an email to a Large File Transfer if the attachment(s) is over a certain size and encrypts it even if you don't want it to.

User friendly and secure peace of mind - an essential for any professional transferring data
We strongly recommend this software to all our clients to ensure that their data is protected during transfer to and from our processing team. Clients payroll data is particularly sensitive and regardless of legislation requirements, it deserves protection and security. We provide this by insisting that all our clients use Egress.
PROSIt's easy to use once set-up. There is minimal training required. I also like the prompts that appear even when I don't want to encrypt. Very helpful!
CONSCan be confusing for some people but generally it is because they think they have to log in each and every time they want to send an e-mail. Also I would prefer if I could transfer larger packets of data without having to access the cloud facility.

Find it very simple to send and open encrypted e mails with the Outlook plugin
Knowing that e mails which contain business sensitive or personal information are more secure. This is very important to us especially with the changes to GDPR
PROSVery simple to use with the Outlook plugin and no issues with opening or sending encrypted e mails either internally or externally
CONSWhen it automatically creates a large file and encrypts the e mail if the attachments are over a certain size even if I don't want the e mail encrypted

Very awkward, cumbersome and confusing
This is my first experience with a dedicated "Secure" email system (vs Gmail or Hotmail) and so I have nothing else to which to compare it. Perhaps when there is the additional layer(s) of security other systems are just as difficult to navigate. What I can say unequivocally is that I really dislike this product and have made my impressions known to the MCO.
PROSThe only feature I can appreciate is that it is supposed to be very secure in maintaining the privacy of the clients whose information is passed back and forth through the email system.
CONSAs an end user - required by the Managed Care Organization to communicate client information for purposes of authorization and billing - I find it very cumbersome and difficult to use. - There is no ability to create client folders within which to place various communications between the provider and the Managed Care Organization. - The MCO with whom I am contracted doesn't use the client name in the Subject line, and there apparently is no "Search" function to more easily locate correspondence by Client. Consequently, it requires going through each and every email numerous times in order to locate a particular client's correspondence. - The interface is not intuitive nor user friendly: I have yet to figure out why it is that when I log on to Egress from a correspondence from the MCO, at times the previous emails received will appear in the roster of emails, and other times there will be "0" received emails showing. - The system doesn't allow you to view an email and then "back arrow" to the list of recent emails. Apparently, you have to log in another time - I find it very difficult to attach files that I create in my Spreadsheet program, unless they are saved to my drive, which adds another layer of work.

Great to start but losing functionality
Great at first but not working as well now
PROSBeing able to read and forward on protected emails
CONSIt was great at first but it hasn’t been working so well recently . I keep getting asked to give permission to people i forward emails on to and they have egress to. Help desk to understand problem and then the solution if deleting each email address because of corrupted caches only worked short term and it’s happening again . Also some emails with big attachments it won’t let be forward on
Reason for choosing Egress Protect
Because the other organisations we work with cafcass and cumbria county council use it

The software is the only one we have been able to find that allowed all of our users to keep their own email address. Whether people use Gmail, self-host, Yahoo, MSN, AOL, etc, they are able to use the Egress service to send and receive secure emails.

Email security is very important
Such an easy process to set up. It does exactly what it says it will do. This program could potentially save your entire system from human error in interacting with malicious emails.
PROSWe have all sorts of firewalls in software to screen out malicious emails. However, when some emails get through it is the end user who has to decide whether to push or not. This program gives banners to help identify suspicious and malicious emails. Helps to eliminate human error, which is where all our mistakes have been made.
CONSThere is no cons about this program. The program was exactly what I was looking for and what we needed.
