We Weigh the Pros and Cons - Overall rating: 5/5 - Reviewer: Hicham S. - Verified reviewer: Yes - Industry: Computer Software - Company size: 201-500 employees - Product usage: Used daily for more than 2 years - Reviewed: November 2022 - Review source details: This review was submitted organically. No incentive was offered Avira Antivirus pro is a great antivirus program for those with a little more money to spend. It's one of the most comprehensive antivirus programs out there and offers both real-time scanning, on-demand scanning, antispam filters, system optimization tools, and more. However, this program is not cheap—it's $60 per year (or $120 for three years), though you can find some deals that lower that cost by as much as half if you buy in bulk. That being said, this one is worth checking out if you're looking for something robust without a ton of extra features you may not need. As with any purchase decision, make sure to read through customer reviews before making your decision. Customers found that while the app had an easy installation process, many encountered issues after installation. The company responded quickly to all reports of these issues and was able to fix them right away. Customers were also pleased with how responsive the customer service department was when they required assistance or had questions about the product itself. A drawback customers reported was that they could not select specific files from their computers for protection against malware and viruses. One reviewer also found that it caused other software he had installed on his computer, like Microsoft Office, to crash every time he opened them up, requiring him to contact tech support, which thankfully resolved his issue within hours. #### Ratings breakdown - Ease of use: 5/5 - Value for money: 4/5 - Customer support: 5/5 - Functionality: 5/5 #### Pros Avira Antivirus Pro has earned a name as one of the leading antivirus software packages on the market, with over 120 million installations worldwide. But how does it really stack up? We’ve taken an in-depth look at this popular program to uncover its pros and cons.Avira Antivirus Pro is a popular antivirus software with features that are not available on many of its competitors. It comes with real-time protection, spam filter, email scanning, vulnerability scanner, file encryption, parental controls, and web protection. These features combine to make it one of the most comprehensive antiviruses on the market. It also has an intuitive interface that is easy to use for people who don't have a lot of technical experience. There's also a free version of the software, so you can test drive before committing. The Cons: The biggest complaint about Avira Antivirus Pro is that it takes up quite a bit of system resources because it offers so many security options. If your computer is already bogged down by other programs, this may be too much for your machine to handle. #### Cons While there are many positives to using Avira Antivirus Pro, there are also a few negatives that need to be considered. One of the biggest disadvantages is that it can significantly slow down your computer if you have a lot of other programs running in the background. The other downside is that it does not have an app for Apple devices. Finally, some people don't like how they need to pay every year for this software. However, others find this helpful because it forces them to make sure their security is up-to-date each year. If you don't want to commit to paying annually then these antivirus solutions may not be right for you. --- ### There Are Better Options - Overall rating: 2/5 - Reviewer: Verified Reviewer - Verified reviewer: Yes - Industry: Graphic Design - Company size: Self-Employed - Product usage: Used other for less than 12 months - Reviewed: April 2021 - Review source details: This reviewer was invited by us to submit an honest review and offered a nominal incentive as a thank you. Avira works as it should. Unfortunately, the Pro version doesn't offer much besides removing the annoyance of getting popups to get you to upgrade from the Free version. It's true that Avira has a long list of features, but most of them feels like padding to justify the upgrade. Turning them on just because you have them causes Avira to use up much more processing power, nullifying the benefit of being a lightweight antivirus. And for the asking price, you might be better off with a different antivirus that has features that you actually need that has a higher protection rating (Avira appears to have been slipping a little over the past year, but is still generally good at identifying and catching threats). However, if you're looking for a simple and lightweight antivirus, Avira Pro should definitely be considered. #### Ratings breakdown - Ease of use: 3/5 - Functionality: 4/5 #### Pros The antivirus itself is pretty lightweight which is always a huge plus for any software that is constantly running in the background. #### Cons The biggest problem with Avira Pro is the fact that the free version gets you pretty much the same thing. However, the Free version is constantly annoying you with popups to get you to upgrade to Pro. Most of the additional features are also locked behind Pro, but they are unnecessary features for me. --- ### Great All Inclusive package. - Overall rating: 5/5 - Reviewer: Charlene M. - Verified reviewer: Yes - Industry: Non-Profit Organization Management - Company size: 2-10 employees - Product usage: Used daily for more than 2 years - Reviewed: August 2022 - Review source details: This reviewer was invited by us to submit an honest review and offered a nominal incentive as a thank you. Avira has been a great asset to our protection. The options available, such as the VPN and Password Manager, are great adds. #### Ratings breakdown - Ease of use: 4/5 - Value for money: 5/5 - Functionality: 5/5 #### Pros I like that Avira offered a free version as well as the paid version. The additional options with the paid version have been well worth the cost. Being able to protect up to 6 items and keep them all safe is a plus. #### Cons Nothing at this time. The features offered are all good. #### Reasons for switching to Avira Antivirus Pro To have access to the additional options offered in Pro. --- ### Avira makes me feel safe using my computer - Overall rating: 5/5 - Reviewer: Verified Reviewer - Verified reviewer: Yes - Industry: Consumer Goods - Company size: 2-10 employees - Product usage: Used daily for more than 2 years - Reviewed: February 2023 - Review source details: This reviewer was invited by us to submit an honest review and offered a nominal incentive as a thank you. No incentive was offered In terms of performance, my experience with the program throughout the years has been positive. It is, in my opinion, one of the greatest and most powerful antivirus and spyware programs available. #### Ratings breakdown - Ease of use: 4/5 - Value for money: 3/5 - Customer support: 5/5 - Functionality: 3/5 #### Pros Continuous virus detection without user intervention, as the application runs a scan from time to time to detect viruses, and when the user downloads programs from the Internet or files, Avira checks and verifies that they are virus-free. #### Cons The software sometimes sends out false alarms, alerting the user to the presence of a virus or malicious program. These are not accurate notifications. also, the software's interface is old and out-of-date, and accessing all features is tough. --- ### University student Avira Antivirus Pro - Overall rating: 4/5 - Reviewer: Kent Charles B. - Verified reviewer: Yes - Industry: E-Learning - Company size: 1001-5000 employees - Product usage: Used daily for less than 2 years - Reviewed: February 2023 - Review source details: This review was submitted organically.
