Among the best for file compression, 15 year user

Vital when one works with "heavy files" such as image files or if one needs to send a very large attachment via email. While filelink protocols are a solution, some users tend to be "old school" and use email attachments alone.

PROS

1. Ease of use 2. Quality of output delivered 3. Strong security - files do not corrupt 4. Multiple customisation options

CONS

Some corporate firewalls do not accept winzip files at all!

Reason for choosing WinZip

1. Ease of use 2. Prior comfort with using winzip (15 years+)

Archiving was meant to be easy...

I've been using WinZip for years and it hasn't changed one bit. You can still use them in your context menu and they're still lightning fast zipping things up.

PROS

Windsor is able to do all the things the other guys do and make it a very simple process. They don't have too much fluff, but they incorporate all the features that you used to and could want in you archiving software.

CONS

Well I don't like that there's programs that could crack their password capabilities fairly easy.

Reason for choosing WinZip

Clear winner with ease of use and features.

WinZip for file compressions

WinZip is still a great app to use for file compression but they seem to be specialized on the Windows users, most Mac platform users switched to other apps that allows Mac specific formats.

PROS

WinZip is one of the oldest file compression application, it is still widely used, however kind of fell behind on the most current and wide variety of formats available out there. Mac users almost completely switched over to other apps because WinZip does not allow many of the compression formats used on the Macs.

CONS

Lost its flexibility and ability to keep up with current times.

The once-upon-a-time king of archiving software has lost his crown, in my humble opinion.

Awkward to install - it failed the first time; and to use some of the features you have to download more modules which need to be installed separately.

PROS

It's undoubtedly a powerful piece of software with a lot of useful tools, such as file conversion and encryption.

CONS

It's too expensive for what it does. There are plenty of open source options which will do most if not all of the same things.

WinZap, to compress and keep your files archived..

WinZip is a powerful software to archive, compress or combine multiple of your files together at one place. I like it a lot for it ease of use.

PROS

WinZip is a powerful utility software to compress and or archive your files and folders. It works very fast yet still compresses your files efficiently. It has a simple a intuitive graphics user interface which makes it easy to use. Not only you can easily extract archived files just by right clicking it and selecting to extract, you can also use it to create self extracting .zip files that eztacts it self just by double clicking. It supports all popular and widely used compression formats like .Zip, ,TAR, LHA, Rar etc. Also it integrates with Microsoft softwares very well.

CONS

The only thing that come in my mind against winZip is its price tag and in-availability of a free version except for limited check version to try befor buying it.
