All Kentucky Tax Preparers stay away from this program.

We had problems with the Kentucky returns in 2019 and were told everything was resolved and those problems would not reoccur in 2020. Total lie. This program is a complete HEADACHE for Kentucky tax preparers.

We had no problems when it came to preparing the federal programs.

NO SUPPORT!!! TOTALLY IGNORE PROBLEMS WITH KENTUCKY RETURNS Here is verbiage from latest email that was sent this morning: Robert Jones You totally ignored all the problems that were relayed to you last season regarding the Kentucky tax returns. You would not answer my calls, emails, chats, or let voice messages. Today is the time that broke the camel's back!!!! I will be contacting the Kentucky Revenue Cabinet and the Kentucky Attorney General's Office today to file an official complaint against mytaxprepoffice in hopes of them NOT approving your program for 2021 tax preparation. Those Kentucky returns that we had problems with, and you were notified about time and time again, are now coming back with errors because once originally transmitted all information listed on Schedule M failed to go through. This is causing clients to get letters from Kentucky that they owe taxes. We now have to amend those screwed up transmitted return to show what was actually prepared corrected. I will also be posting this to all channels to warn all Kentucky tax preparers NOT to purchase your program.

Stay away from this product/company

This web-based product is not worth it for any reputable accounting firm. We were transitioning from another provider, and we found a bunch of issues that didn't quite make our transition justifiable. First, it took 2 weeks to migrate clients and returns from the previous tax year (about 250). TWO WEEKS!! Of those returns imported, many returned incorrect errors such as missing social security numbers, emails, etc. Now, that's not possible since we can't process a return without a social and we collect email addresses from every client. None of the business clients were imported. No carry-overs were imported. You can't create a new client without adding a form 1040 (so, if you only need to create a Form 2848, or a 2553, etc., you cannot open only that form. You'll need to have a form 1040). I had a lengthy conversation with a manager, [SENSITIVE CONTENT], to whom I reported all the issues encountered. There were more issues than the ones mentioned. These are too many adjustments needed to be made even before starting the preparation. Then, with no carry-over imports, we would have to check every return from last year to determine if the client is carrying over anything and make sure that our employees are aware of that possibility. A lot of time and resources before we get to the preparation. So, we don't recommend this product. Another issue was that they have a 14-day refund policy. Since the client import took 2 weeks, we basically were outside of the 14-day policy to get a refund.

Pros

Nothing. There was nothing in this software that ultimately convinced us to switch.

Cons

Everything. There are way to many restrictions that require time and resources to sort through. Not worth it.

Reasons for Choosing MyTAXPrepOffice

The sales rep convinced us to try the product and, in good faith, we believed that it could have been worth a try. What bothers the most is the time it took for the system to convert clients/returns from last year (2 weeks as mentioned above), which took us already outside of the refund policy timeframe before we had some real information to test the system.

This is not a real Tax Software

It's been a terrible experience from the beginning, getting my office set up and transferring my clients from previous years was headache.

Pros

I liked the day I stopped using it and switched back to Drake Software.

Cons

The customer support is terrible and they have zero knowledge of tax preparation, and very little knowledge of the software itself.

It was the cheaper option.

The price was way cheaper, but you get what you pay for. This software is terrible.
