Gather is great, their support team is great. I just prefer more customization options.

Horrible Customer service

They are an okay system to use up until you have to cancel your subscription. I contacted them 8 months in advance to my account renewing. I stated I wanted to make sure it doesn't auto renew. They said they couldn't help me because it was too far in advance. then I get a bill stating they charged my card for another year. I immediately contact them stating I didn't want to auto renew. They said it was too late, no refunds, and I have access for the rest of the year. Spoke to several people trying to get assistance. No one could help me. Horrible customer service.

Pros

pretty basic system so it's easy to use.

Cons

Customer service, billing, bugs in system, reporting is a joke and you can't export anything properly.

I used Gather for almost 2 years and the pros are that the system does allow for accurate notes to be recorded in the system. I liked the format of the banquet event order and it was easy for the operations team to read. They were constantly making updates to the system which added new items

Cons

You were not able to record the responses in your correspondence with clients which could cause issues. The company was constantly making updates to the system, but they would never let you know so things would disappear and you'd be confused for a day or 2 until you figured out what had changed/been updated

Overpriced and lacking

Pros

Overall, the UI is clean and easy to use. We can train our employees relatively quickly when they are first hired.

Cons

It is way overpriced. For what you pay, there are other platforms out there that have more functionality and you can still operate your business well.

Gather has SIGNIFICANTLY reduced the amount of time it takes us to send clients a quote.

We have sped up our inquiry to closing rate.

Pros

Fast quote building, the payment portal within the proposal, and super easy to use. We used to edit contracts individually, Gather has totally changed the way we interact with customers. I HIGHLY recommend this product for anyone in the events industry.

Cons

Hard to get customization per account due to Gather having a small team. We needed a small add-on, but since it wasn't in the current roadmap, its unlikely that it will happen.

Lacks Many Qualities for a Large Venue.

Only use if you are a one room venue.

Pros

Easy to read, cloud based. Thats really about it but this line has a minimum of 100 characters needed to submit.

Cons

This product is made for a restaurant. It DOES NOT support a large venue. You cannot make any specific modifications to the program for your venue. Reporting is poor and only exported into excel, cannot hold space for multiple rooms in multiple time frames under one booking, reads military time, cannot print an invoice for multiple bookings, cannot enter a percentage discount, support says they will bring up issues to team, but rarely resolve anything.

Don't do it!

Pros

Potentially a good product but they lie to you to get you in and then don't follow up on their promises. Not to mention the software is lack luster.

Cons

Little to no customization. Support is completely non-existent and the software is buggy. They sell it well but won't let you see under the hood with trials. The sales person promised me that I could try it out and they would refund the full years payment if it wasn't a fit. I tried it our within the first week and realized it wasn't a good fit and then they said they couldn't refund us!! They sales guy even admitted he promised me but said I signed a contract! Wow. They refused to respond to my emails about the issue. Since then I tried using it but the features are so lame it creates more work. Stay away!

Gather is a great way to get organized with your event business. By far, the most helpful feature is the internal messaging. Truly an awesome way to keep everyone on task.

Cons

The entire system is very user friendly. However, I do wish there was a different way to configure the calendar. Like a three month snapshot.

Gather simplifies my life

Pros

Intuitive software with the best support in the industry. New features added all the time. The Gather team listens to their customers and they adjust on the fly. I save minutes of my day every time I use this software's features. What could be more important than that.

Cons

When I changed over to Gather Software, I abandoned my old system which was a box of files in the back seat of my car. The box is still there. I wish Gather could clean my car. I am working up the nerve to call Gather Support and ask them.

Easy updates for client change requests and keeping events and clients on file for later use. Fast delivery of proposals to clients for quicker response to details and questions from clients.

Issues with finishing contract because full information on client may not be known and required fields may block you from finishing proposals to send out.

Time saving and keeps all event information in one place.

Ease of booking. Tracking every aspect of the event. Uploading and saving menus/ credit cards etc saves me time.

A little complicated to use, but it's a powerful event management tool that your clients will love!

Pros

From the customer/client experience, it's wonderful. Great, professional design, easy to review contracts/policies, make payments, and correspond with questions. From the admin perspective, I like that it keeps me organized. There are so many moving parts to events and it's so nice to have everything organized in the calendar, have each event represented, and every event have it's own page to store details, connect with the client & staff, track & collect payments, create and send policies to review, request payments (can be custom or based on pre-set pricing menus), and store details for your team and/or the client (i.e. event floorplan, vendor info, etc). Gather's customer support has also been amazing! They always respond to questions in a timely manner and provide webinars on a consistent basis as well.

Cons

It's pretty complicated to use and takes quite a bit of training, which can make it hard to collaborate or inform part time staff or contractors on event details (or have them help with invoicing, scheduling, etc). There is also not an ability for clients to "sign" contracts, only approve proposals. For an industry that can be pretty litigious, I wish they emphasized their event policies a bit more.

We really wanted this to work...

I don't recommend this product if you're a large company or if you do any business at off-site venues.

Pros

Our clients love how professional Gather looks. We get a lot of compliments, from clients, on how easy it is to use.

Cons

Unfortunately there are just so many issues... We're an off site catering company and it appears that this product is more of an "in-house" program for on site/private dining... They knew this when they sold us the program and should have realized they were not for us...

Most important was the fact that our invoices weren't adding up correctly; had we not manually added them up we would be out of thousands of dollars. There is no where for our clients to confirm their contact info (phone, address), not efficient when booking a high volume of events. The zip codes for our clients, on the BEOs, default to our zip code; so we have to go in and manually write the client's zip code on every BEO so that our delivery drivers don't get lost.... We've spoken to them several times and yet no one can seem to correct a zip code. There is no way to enlarge the font, when doing several events it's hard for kitchen staff to see the menus.

The support team is very polite but can't ever really answer a question. They respond with "we'll mention this at our next meeting"...

Simple yet advanced event planning software.

Having one place for all of the events to live.

Pros

Gather offers users the ability to easily organize a vast majority of events that otherwise can become overwhelming. Being able to process payments on Gather is the BEST feature. It promotes a feeling of professionalism for the guest.

Cons

It could be a bit more streamlined, it requires some clicking that to get to new pages that could be eliminated. To be honest I am not crazy about their new branding, the symbol does not translate for me to something that makes sense.
