Last year, I sent in a suggestion to the NCJSA-North Carolina Juvenile Services Association-that they take a look at Whova and see where it might help them. That's also an annual, and fairly large, conference I enjoy. I have no way of knowing if they did. I really like all the app opportunities for networking, that it doesn't always happen personally, but still feels personal and like a real connection. I hadn't used it since last year, but it didn't take long to remember the ease of navigation between everything this conference does; so easy to get right back into it. #### Cons The thing I liked the least about Whova is that some of the titles of the different activities seemed to be two different words for the same thing: I would get quite confused with what the difference was in the following: Icebreakers (I think the questions were fixed to only 4-thought I'd be creating my own), then Polls: I went there and was able to create my own, but I thought I wasn't doing polls, just entering a question where I'd seen more Qs on the app. So, possibly I created a Survey rather than a Poll! The room assignments for meetings, and the site map were very helpful for a fast paced conference in a large confusing hotel convention setting, where it would have been very difficult to find meeting rooms on various floors. Presenters were able to upload slide presentations so I could easily follow along, questions could be sent via the app to presenters and groups could communicate too. The app helped make my first AVECO conference the best I have attended. #### Cons At one time I was unable to see all the sub-sessions within an hour. The App essentially serves as the best member of the organising team for purposes of customer support and ensuring that the customers or conference delegates can focus on the proceedings without the usual attendant logistical challenges relating to movements around the venue. #### Cons The interface of the venue maps was not as helpful as expected. Having the ability to view the session list or agenda in a side panel or as a pop-up overlay would allow participants to easily check what’s coming up next, plan their time, and switch between sessions more efficiently—all without having to exit the current session.
