SonicWall Security Firewall

Not bad considering the price paid, but in my professional opinion, the cost savings are not worth it. Other firewall solutions are more robust, easier to setup, configure and manage. Overall, not bad for the money.

PROS

affordable, less expensive than the standard brand options

CONS

not as intuitive as other firewalls, security software suite is thin, can be difficult to find and modify some options

Reason for choosing Sonicwall Network Security Manager

price, affordability. Business had a limited budget.

user comment

The fact that Sonicwall Network Manager is very expensive as a license was one of the main problems for us. In addition, users were constantly experiencing problems during the disconnection or connection stages, and this was constantly causing us problems.

PROS

The feature I like about this software is that it is reliable and fast connection can be established.

CONS

There is no topic that I like very little, although I use it both as a user and as an administrator, I could not see a drawback.

Reason for choosing Sonicwall Network Security Manager

Due to the price difference between the two, the cheaper company was selected.

Reasons for switching to Sonicwall Network Security Manager

The license fee is very expensive. And the really high fee for a vpn program is due to its low performance.

Good small office solution but not as durable as other products.

PROS

The sonicwall interface is easy to navigate and offers quite of bit of functionality. You can do everything through a web interface and licensing and backup are a breeze when you take advantage of mysonicwall.com. We use the sonicwall applicate in a small office and for the price and features we are quite happy with it. Firmware updates have not been an issue for us and keeping things up to date is pretty straight forward.

CONS

While the VPN options are plentiful we have had some issues with sonicwall keeping the connections up in some cases. There are multiple ways to configure VPN and because of how we had to do it our connection sometimes goes down and we have to log into the device and stop / start the VPN connection in order for it to get connected again.

Reason for choosing Sonicwall Network Security Manager

Sonicwall was cheaper for this use case and gave us the features we required.

Reasons for switching to Sonicwall Network Security Manager

We scaled down the organization and no longer needed such an expensive product.

Very good option to protect your network

It is interesting, because we have been using it to protect the network, and also as a VPN manager, it has their own management appliance, with clients which we can install it on the computers, or you can choose to use the directly Windows configuration. Therefore, it covers L2TP, PPTP, L2F and SSL VPN, which gave us a bunch of options to choose.

PROS

It is a robust solution, with so many features, roles, and options to configure and customize a firewall solution for your own network, working with various different protocols, covering the most used on the market, including a VPN based on different procotols.

CONS

It is difficult to find some options inside it, is not intuitive, to block a site, IP or file type, you will spend some time to understand it, need to be a midtier on network skills, not a product for beginners.
