I loved Trainerize at the beginning, I was a part of as many beta tests as I could. I was always on their FB page trying to help new users out. As time went on, I could no longer excuse the increase of bugs the software was having. When TZ became a part of ABC and ABC wanted to rebrand everything. It seemed like the bugs got worse. I was ready to move on.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 3/5
- Customer support: 3/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Trainerize was the first software I used to train my clients outside of Apple Numbers. I loved that each client could have their own section of the app and everything was saved to them via their profile.

#### Cons

As Trainerize grew and they become part of the ABC family. The shift to nutrition became a main focus and the training aspect fell behind. Neither section was working very well after awhile, which left the software riddled with bugs.

#### Reasons for choosing ABC Trainerize

It's what my mentor used and that was good enough for me. Even after the mentor switched away I stayed with Trainerize until the Fall of 2023 when I could no longer excuse the bugs Trainerize had.

#### Reasons for switching to ABC Trainerize

Trainerize was riddled with to many bugs and Everfit seems like a more polished version with a better UI.

#### Ratings breakdown

#### Pros

The trainerize app makes communicating with my online and in person clients a breeze. The library of exercises and templates saves me hours. And the constant upgrading and new features are constantly making the experience even better.

#### Cons

There are some features I wish it had, but they are constantly improving and adding more features as users recommend changes.

### Professional system with great customer service

So far I have set up my existing clients and can honestly say the process has been easier than expected thanks to the support videos and support team. I am finding the system a huge benefit to my business and my client feedback continues to be positive. There are a few areas I feel could be developed further but the company appears to be investing in this constantly which is great to see. I would recommend the produce to other online coaches.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Initially the set up video were extremely helpful and something trainerize was considerable easier to negotiate than other systems I tried. The mobile app is brilliant and syncs with lots of other systems meaning data is collected all in one place. My clients have also found the app to be very user friendly and easy to use. I like how the calendar features allows you to drag and move item to different days - again a great feature. The customer service has also been very help in answering any questions, they also add extra reading links on the topic which i think is above and beyond.

#### Cons

It doesn't sync with Samsung health yet but they say this is in development. When comparing clients workouts in the progress tab it doesn't list the workout in the correct exercise order which is a little frustrating when trying to review clients progress. It doesn't use averages in the progress tab for nutrition or bodyweight - I hope they add this as I have to use a google sheet to personally calculate this at present.

#### Reasons for choosing ABC Trainerize

Its features suited what I was looking for more. Mainly in syncing with my fitness pal, data analysis, calendar ease of use and the mobile app for clients.

#### Reasons for switching to ABC Trainerize

Mobile app for clients to track workouts data all in one location data analysis made easier habit tracking features

### Trainerize is the best there is as of now for online personal trainers

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5

#### Pros

The exercises library is very extensive. It's very rare that we can't find what we need. Even then, we can add whatever exercise we need from an external source.

#### Cons

The ease of use on the client's side is not optimal. Often, we have to explain to clients certain functionalities. It is not as intuitive as it could be.

#### Reasons for choosing ABC Trainerize

Taking in consideration everything, this is the best online personal trainer software at the moment. It has more exercises, less bugs, better ease of use and much more than the competitors. Still, it's not perfect but they are constantly improving.

The great thing about Trainerize is that you can add your own exercise videos from your YouTube account very easily, which negates the worst aspect of Trainerize -- it's exercise selection.

#### Ratings breakdown

### Good for programming, misses the mark entirely for nutrition

- Overall rating: 3/5

- Company size: Self-Employed
- Product usage: Used daily for less than 12 months

Best comprehensive app I've found. But for straight programming I would go with TrainHeroic, and for straight nutrition I would use Google Sheets.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 3/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 2/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

The programs are easy to build, and the progression builder is very helpful for building out multiple week programs with overload.Client onboarding is simple, and you have the ability to customize intake forms, messages, etc.Easy to add your own exercises with videos. Built in library is extensive.Easy to make supersets and add rest periods.

#### Cons

When it comes to nutrition coaching, I've yet to find ANY app that works as well as the google sheets I created. There's no history of what the previous week's macros were. The app doesn't let you select a calorie level and then autopopulate the macros, you have to input macros until you get to the calories you want. There's no way to select a protein requirement (i.e. 0.8g/lb, 1g/lb, 1.2g/lb etc) or a carb/fat ratio. You only have preprogrammed tolerances of 10 or 20 or 30% so good luck coaching a bodybuilding client where you need +/- 2%.There's no charts at all correlating calories, BMR, body weight, etc.And then the "meal planner" that they charge you $45/month for is a complete joke. You can't set it to a client's individual goals. You have to use pre-programmed calories and macro ratios. There's no ability to deselect a wide variety of foods (just some basics like gluten or dairy.) There's no ability to select only certain foods. Most meals take 30 minutes or more to prepare. I've found it to be completely useless. The goals and habits are ok, but they can't link to any metrics, they have to be updated manually to show any progress, so it's all completely arbitrary. When it comes to programming, there's no way to program drop sets. Also, the instructions for the training week do not automatically come up when a client starts a session. I've had to go tell each client individually where to find instructions.

#### Reasons for switching to ABC Trainerize

Better functionality and options.

#### Pros

I feel that this software goes an extra mile when it comes to tailoring and personalizing fitness programming for clients, but ALSO the trainers. In addition, the quality of the videos are excellent. You can choose between the full explanation video or a short loop of the exercise method. I also love that you can add personalized exercises and video for your own clients.

#### Cons

I wish there were more pre-made programming available. However, I want to note that the detail and quality of the available programming is excellent.

#### Reasons for switching to ABC Trainerize

My clients are not functional/cross fit athletes and I feel that TruCoach caters to that population of athletes. The videos were tiny and hard to see for my clients and myself. Trainerize is more friendly and encourages communication.

### Best tool I could find for my online training & health coaching business

My overall experience has been very positive. It's very easy to program for individuals and groups, communicate, see progress, give nutritional help, and charge/track services. I recommend it to any trainer looking for an online platform.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

I really like how there are video demos of all the exercises - and if there is not an exercise in the list that fits what you are looking for, you can use a YouTube video and create your own. It's user friendly to the clients as well, and they can track their progress in various ways. They can track their weights used for each exercise, refer to weight they have used for that exercise in the past, and then when they finish a workout, the app tells them if they have set a new personal best (and it tells me too!). I was also able to upload nutrition information and set macro goals, and see their progress if they link My Fitness Pal. I also appreciate how I get a push notification when a client completes a workout, sets a personal best, or messages me - eliminating the need to constantly open the app for updates. It sends them reminders to do their workouts as well.

#### Cons

I feel like it took me about a month to figure out how to create workouts and have them appear to the client how I wanted them to. There are also features for the client that I don't think they are aware of, and would be helpful if there was a mini tutorial they could go through when they get started (tracking weights, substituting an exercise, etc.) I also had one client who said she had to take the app off her phone because it was slowing things down/wasn't working - but that could have been an issue with the phone.

#### Vendor response

Hey Katie! You are making us blush!! Thank you so much for your kind review :) We are thrilled you love our workout builder! Good news, our marketing team is currently working on some great "how-to" and educational videos that will be coming out soon! I can definitely pass on your feedback to them so they can touch on those topics! - Team Trainerize

Initially, this was a great tool when I started training in 2020. However, they have gotten progressively worse and have become borderline unusable since another company acquired them. There are two main issues: client experience/support and lack of useful features. I now spend a couple hours per week troubleshooting for clients due to issues with their account. This ranges from data being deleted to clients being unable to access their workouts. In the beginning, Trainerize also emphasized new feature rollouts. However, recently they took months on a useless rebrand that offers no value. Meanwhile, they've failed to offer any meaningful upgrades like e1RM tracking or group workout tracking. Sad to see a good product nosedive like this.

This software is fantastic! I have been a user for the past 7 years and I love it. It makes my life as a coach much easier and way more organized. My clients also enjoy all features such training programs with videos and instructions as well as meal plan with food tracking. Most client connect trainerize with their apple watch and have everything in one place. I noticed my clients and even me are way more accountable to each other and especially those who work online with me.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5

#### Pros

Trainerize is probably the most affordable option for new trainers. Programming and PROGRESSING workouts is easy enough, as well as organizing your exercise video library. It has a great messaging system and integrates into a lot of other products like Apple Watch, Fitbit, MyFitnessPal, Slack, and they keep adding more. The client gets a daily to-do list with all the things you programmed such as workouts, habits, tracking, cardio, and nutrition.

#### Cons

Although you can create program templates that include workouts, messages, and measurements.... I wish you could "stack" program templates. For example, give a few clients the same workout program but pick and choose which messages get automatically sent (or reschedule ONLY the messages for example). And although Trainerize offers a lot of integrations, I wish they had a membership portal with forms built in. (like PTDisctinction offers)

Trainerize allowed me to build my online personal training business and has helped me work from home and not in a gym. It has enabled me to work with more clients, get them better results and with less time and effort!

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

I have been using Trainerize for over 3 years. It has helped me build my business. Being a personal trainer my wife and I were able to move everything online vs in a gym. Freeing us to train more people and in less time. We can create programs, see the client's activity level, see how often they are working out. Trainerize also has a built-in messenger which is great since it is separated from our personal text messaging. I looked into and tried other programs similar to Trainerize but Trainerize, in my opinion, was so much better than the competition. Not to mention my ideas were heard on improvements to make and things to change. They are always coming out with updates and making things better.

#### Cons

I don't really have many complaints about Trainerize. Typically if I had a problem with the software or needed something to be done that it could not currently do, then the developers would work with me on making those improvements. It has been amazing to see the updates they have come out with since I started with them. They really want the user and client experience to be great and they want you to be successful!

Helps me stay organized with programming and client communication. I can stay on top of all my clients without going nuts or spending too much time. Clients are always impressed with the professional structure Trainerize gives my business, and they love keeping track of how many workouts they've completed, receiving messages for their Personal Bests, etc. A simple feature that goes a long way in client retention! I can't say enough good things about Trainerize. In the 2 years I've been a customer, I've seen them listen to customer suggestions and put them into action. The app has grown and developed exponentially in 2 years, which makes me look forward to every update they make. Wow - thank you SO much Ana! We appreciate your review and are so happy you love the Trainerize interface! Regarding having more functionality on the mobile app, I can definitely pass your feedback on to the development team for review! - Team Trainerize

I am able to build my business with my phone. I train multiple clients at once. Tracking is in one place & easy to refer to.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

This is a low overhead cost for me. I can train clients from anywhere; without renting time/space out at a gym. I find extreme value for my money as I can train multiple people at once. Trainerize keeps client messaging solely on the app. This does not mix in with my personal text messaging.

#### Cons

I need to upload multiple meal plans for a client. A client has a low carbohydrate/high protein day followed by a carbohydrate loaded day.

#### Vendor response

Hey Jordan, Wow - thank you SO much! We are so happy to hear that Trainerize transformed your fitness business. We are also thrilled that Trainerize has allowed you to offer a more complete and comprehensive fitness solution to your business. In regards to multiple meal plans option, it does sound like a good idea to have in Trainerize's future. We will definitely pass your feedback on to the development team for review. - Team Trainerize

Very easy and enjoyable to use. Has everything I need to track and communicate with clients in one easy spot.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

So many things! I love the way you can build workouts and easily implement then into clients plans. Love that it tracks your progress from workout to workout. Also love that it graphs body weight, stats, has pictures, steps, habits and even a meal plan option. I seriously can go on and on about the app :)

#### Cons

I wish that there was a notes section by each exercise so you can add in a lil something about that exercise. Like if you used dumbbells or cables. Also when messaging it would be great if there was a send button and that the messages didn't send by hitting enter.

#### Vendor response

Hey Jennifer! WOW - thank you so much for your review and kind words! We're thrilled to know that you like the Trainerize app and the ease of building workouts for your clients. Your idea of adding a note section for exercises, sounds like a cool feature to have in Trainerize's future. Could you email help@trainerize.com with more details on how that would look? We can pass that on to the developers and they can get in touch with you if it is something they are going to add to Trainerize. - Team Trainerize

I ended up swapping to a software I found easier to use.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 2/5
- Value for money: 2/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 3/5

#### Pros

The app makes it easy to connect with clients where ever and whenever. Additionally, it makes programming and tracking workouts easy.

#### Cons

I found many of the pre-recorded exercises weren't what I was looking for in terms of form and the programming aspect to be cumbersome when wanting to edit single workouts.

### I really like it. I tried PT distinction for awhile but didn't like it. It fits my style of program

Easy client management - I run my entire business using this software and Facebook.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

I like that you keep updating it and making it better so that it stays in line with your competitors.

#### Cons

I'm struggling to think of something. I think you changed it so that now I have to use the calendar to copy a programme from a current client to a profile which I am currently logged into......... but in the past there was an option to do this in the clients 'training programme' section. I'd like to have that back. (I think you can only add a brand new programme now when in the training section) I'd also like to be able to schedule messages to people so that on day x they'll recieve a message. I know there is an option to do a few of these at the beginning but I'd like to be able to schedule a lot of these running over the course of a 6 month programme. A bit like PT distinction and also another software called coachcatalyst (previously habitcatalyst)

#### Vendor response

#### Pros

I like how you can request features on the site and customer service does respond in a timely manner.

#### Cons

Trainerize can be integrated with Stripe, but they don't allow you to pause payments for customers. This is a feature that Stripe allows, but Trainerize Pay (Stripe-integrated) hasn't included that feature. This was something that coaches have requested to be included, since many clients get sick or go on vacation and want to resume at a later time.
