PCS Express helps to streamline

It's been a good experience the last few years. Without Express, we'd still be spending dozens of hours weekly just typing up invoices within Quickbooks.

PROS

The biggest thing that we love about Express is the auto-rating features. It makes training new billing clerks a snap, because we don't have to show them the intricacies of each different customer. Further, we really enjoy the access to load information. You get back what you put in, so if you add all the information on a BOL, it means you can easily search for that information when you really need it.

CONS

It's not built for Canadian companies, and you have to manually add GST to each invoice which can get tedious.

Better price point, better functionality, and the team seemed very committed to training us how to use the software properly.

With over 2 years experience using PCS

PCS has stopped almost all double entry and tracking for my business. We can easily track all our assets and transactions.

PROS

PCS offers a complete accounting product with easy to use modules and ready to run reports for auditing and tracking your financial progress. Driver payroll works great, but best of all the fuel and escrow balances work so well behind the scene making things simple and reliable.

CONS

I used to use a premium accounting software that was separate from my dispatch software, but with PCS it's automatic with no double entry. If I have anything negative to say about the accounting and payroll, the payroll is too restrictive and limited. I use a payroll service whose tax computations never match PSC and therefore we have to make a journal entry to wash things out correctly. When I say limited, I'm referring to the number of fields allowed for additional pay like Bonus, Vacation, Holiday. If they all happen on the same payroll, I'm limited to only one selection.

Reasons for switching to PCS TMS

PCS stopped the double entry and added on-line access and I needed a more up-to-date product.

PCS

It has helped us a lot in some ways but could be so much greater if they worked with their customers more to see what exactly we need from their software.

PROS

The elimination of paperwork and how quick we are able to invoice now.

CONS

The pricing structure to add one more user. You have to pay a setup fee an a HUGE additional price increase to go to the next level for just one more log in. They are not familiar with liquid bulk and what we need legally in our commodity description. Still have not resolved our QB's integration issue... going on over a year. Always get told waiting on the developer. A lot of turnover.

Ultimately came down to the cost. We went with PCS because of the monthly rate - however that monthly rate has increased since on boarding with no additional services in what we are getting.

Reasons for switching to PCS TMS

Service, Cost. McLeod will nickel and dime you for every issue they create themselves.

It's ok, not the best but could be better. Software seems outdated and could be updated.

Simple, can use app for drivers getting loads

CONS

Not very fast. It would be nice if there was more color to highlight certain lines or loads. I feel like it could help make loads pop out more especially when you have 100s a week to put in.

Fast, Robust, Dynamic

Excellent hands on training and dedication by the PCS team to train our employees on the best practices and provide tools to utilize the system in order to reduce manual labor and admin work.

PROS

PCS has been a wonderful platform to work with. The training is robust with a lot of hand on videos and webinars. The roadmap shows that PCS is determined to continue to enhance the software to meet the needs of the industry. We enjoy the security and reliability of a cloud base system and the price point meets our company needs.

CONS

If for some reason the software goes down, which is rare but can happen, the company is at a stand still and cannot jump to a backup on the fly.

PCS Review

My overall experience with PCS TMS is pretty good other than you guys need to provide more features and updates more often.

PROS

I like how user friendly it is. Very easy to learn and pick up.

CONS

Missing crucial features that other softwares have. 1099 setup is awful. Everything has to be typed in for 1099, not a easy process.

Quickbooks was too complicated and not easy to use.

Awesome experience of a well designed TMS system

I just love what PCS has offered so far.

PROS

It's comprehensive, includes almost everything & it's customizable.

CONS

Sometimes, it's not so easy to navigate. Bit more expensive than other platforms however, it's worth it.

Review

I first utilized PCS 20 years ago, when PCS was on a local server. It has grown a lot, and continues to improve, this is the reason as I have changed companies in my career, but always have selected PCS as our TMS software.

PROS

Love how the accounting is integrated all together, also how PCS has different partners. Especially that there are continued up dates in PCS

CONS

I would think the reporting, and some fields for tracking information. Its manageable when we were smaller, not so much now that we are larger. Also working with different platforms, it seems more customers are wanting to integrate data.

Great Tool, Poor Customer Support

Overall, the features of the TMS are a benefit to our organization. The decline in customer service since PCS took ownership have been disappointing but not enough of a reason to change yet.

PROS

PCS purchased UltraShip TMS which was intuitive, easy to use, had great order management, shipment creation, route optimization, reporting, and invoicing. All these features remain.

CONS

Customer service has declined precipitously since PCS purchased UltraShip. PCS has failed to hire and train knowledgeable customer support staff who know the software. There are occasional bugs and issues that we find as daily users. In the past, support tickets to repair would be handled and communicated in a timely manner. We now are required to hold biweekly meetings for updates due to lack of progress and communication. Carriers are charged an amount to connect to the TMS with EDI, this amount increased 250% since PCS took over. Recently, our carrier made us aware that they paid and sent six emails over two months asking for updates on the setup which were all ignored by PCS support.

PCS Software Review

The software is a must to operate a freight brokerage business. It allows us to operate and manage both the daily operations and the accounting operations. It is virtually two systems in one. We are pleased with PCS Software and would recommend them to potential new customers.

PROS

We like the accounting feature that is built into the software. It make accounting pretty seamless. We like the ease of creating dispatch loads and updating the system regarding pickups and deliveries. This software is very straight forward and easy to use. PCS will train you to use the software too and answer your questions. We have used PCS for over ten years and are please with it.

CONS

We do not feel that there are any cons or things we do not like. One reason is because throughout the years PCS has updated it's technology moving forward in time. The system is a great fit for our freight brokerage business. It was a pretty smooth transition.

Reason for choosing PCS TMS

We choose for two reasons. One, the operations and accounting were both inter mingled in the software and two the price was reasonable and fair. There was less cost involved when looking at other products at that point in time.

I've been a customer for over 10 years

I have been a generally happy customer for over 11 years. The system is usually very reliable. I think in all the years that we have been a customer, we have only had challenges reaching the database 3 or 4 times. Dependability is paramount in the transportation world, and PCS is just that... Dependable.

PROS

The ability to manipulate shipments as needed for our type of operation. It has helped me keep track of almost 200,000 shipments that we have completed.

CONS

The inability to have simple change requests followed up upon. IE: when building a load you only have the ability to sort by name, but would love to be able to search by address, as when locations are entered, sometimes the company gets purchased, or have their name changed.

Good option for our fleet

Overall we are satisfied with PCS. Support issues are generally resolved in a timely manner.

PROS

Express is an all-in-one platform from dispatch to invoicing.

CONS

API integrations with other providers is hit or miss. We were not able to provide real-time GPS updates for some of our larger brokers, so we have to rely solely on our ELD platform to do that.

This is Ultraship

PROS

Easy of use. Some TMS systems are cumbersome, slow and confusing. Ultraship is quick and very user friendly.

CONS

The only con I can think of is, one weekend we were locked out and the on call tech support was spotty. We got back in but it took several hours.

Not all clients/customers opt to engage 24x7x365 premium support. Most are comfortable with the Monday through Friday support hours that are included at no additional charge in every customer's subscription fees. Our support team responded on a weekend even though premium support was not activated in this account. While it is always frustrating to wait for assistance, in reality, this support request was addressed far ahead of when it would have been if the Ultra Support team waited until 6AM the following Monday to respond. It is for this commitment to service that the UltraShipTMS Client Support Dept. was presented with a Gold Stevie Award in the `Customer Service Department of the Year¿ category during The 12th Annual American Business Awards in Chicago.

I find PCS increasingly frustrated and a call center I dread having to use.

PROS

The potential of what PCS could do is hopeful.

CONS

Poor execution of what looks like a program that could be great. There a many little hang ups throughout that if tweaked could be a game changer for this TMS. Lack of broker features, no internal no section for loads in dispatch. The inability to see what our customer is going to see from the dispatch screen. Dispatch manager is mediocre, the inability multi sort or even see all loads OTR for a specific day is not an option.

Very simple and you can interact with both accounts, in our case, and it helps you to integrate almost everything in a single page but with many options to use

That I can't interface with other programs like Quick Books. At least i don't know

Because I reduce the man hours and I simplify everything in a single electronic sheet but with all the necessary options to achieve the desired comprehensively

Best Product At Any Price

PCS allowed my team to absorb a 140% increase in volume with very little additional headcount in the Operations area and "ZERO" increase in the back office expense.

PROS

The ease of implementation allowed for a quick transition from prior TMS at little to no integration expense.

CONS

Like most transportation entities, we operate outside normal business hours and the technical support during the "off hours" is lacking - but not needed more than a few times in the past 12 months.

Functionality. The price was simply an unexpected benefit.

We knew we had a tsunami of new business headed our way and the old TMS simply wouldn't handle the information and provide the visibility we needed - and the billing/invoicing functionality was a big time saver.

From a finance point of view

We have a niche business and need a lot of customization before we can say this software is ideal for us. We have to a lot of work arounds to do.

Easy to use, forgiving program.

Overall, pretty good. Wish they were a little less expensive but I know with this inflation under the Biden administration has hurt a lot of us.

PROS

The program allows you to make mistakes, after all we are human. Other software makes you do a lot of work to change something once you input it. PCS Does not. The check cutting, billing and scanning are easy to use as well.

CONS

Raised prices a while back and it costs A LOT more than it had prior.

PROS

PCS is great in that everything I need on a daily basis is at my fingertips in one place.

CONS

It does not happen often, however; it is frustrating at times when entering a bill, if you tab through too fast and don't assign it an account, it will freeze and I have to "end task" to get it to close and then re-open the program.
