Fleetmatics REVEAL Software


 

Fleetmatics REVEAL is a web-based fleet management platform suitable for small and mid-sized companies. Users can view all drivers on a map, and automatically detect behavior such as harsh braking, quick starts, hard corning, and other vehicle misuse; it will even send real-time push alerts to notify dispatchers and supervisors of dangerous driver behavior. By providing a dynamic map view of drivers, dispatchers are able to quote accurate arrival times to customers.

A native app for iOS and Android allows drivers to track their own performance using a smartphone or mobile device. Once drivers log in, they can view nearby company vehicles and receive their assignment. When they get too far from a vehicle, the app will prompt them to confirm that they're still using it. The Today view shows them what stops are scheduled as well as a scorecard to see how they compare with other drivers using metrics such as number of stops, idling, and speeding. Dispatchers can update stops in real-time; the app also provides turn-by-turn navigation through Google maps.

Fleetmatics miss-represented the product and now will not let us out of the contract. Many of their competitors offer better and more reliable functionality and with no multi year contract. Would recommend researching other options before signing up with this company. RUN AWAY!!!

ability to track our fleet, trending of major parameters monitored, current traffic conditions, paperless logging of hours of service

Cons

setting up or modifying the limits of parameters being measured is already done out of the box but changes to these are not intuitive in how it can be done. Monitored parameters display does not necessarily show the whole story of what information is trying to be conveyed and can lead to misinterpretations

A decent and simple to use GPS tracker

Pros

We use the program to track our six trucks. It is simple to use and straight forward. The real time updates are helpful.

Cons

Occasionally the web pages don't update very quickly. I also found that it was not easy to tag locations that are used regularly. (ie employee homes and suppliers). It would be nice if you could set it up to flag whenever trucks were certain places, or when they were travelling at certain times.

I love that I can access my druver's routes from not only my desktop or laptop, but my phone, as well. Once you get the hang of how the softwate works, it's pretty easy to use and gives me the ability to offer reliable ETA's to my customers, while giving me piece of mind knowing where our fleet is at all times.

Cons

It does take some time to get used to, each truck must have it's own unit (Which is expected, however, it is something you have to remember whenever selling or buying an addition to your fleet)

The use of EDL's upset everyone at first but has turned out to be a asset in log book management.

Pros

Ease of use, superior support and cost made Fleetmatics our choice. We (Like Most Everyone else) were not happy being forced to use EDL's but it has turned out to be a valuable tool to control log book entries.

We have been completely satisfied with the performance and functionality of Fleetmatics Reveal.

Pros

The stability has been flawless and the ease of use has made Fleetmatics Reveal a "go-to" for everything from quick reference location checks to detailed driver safety and vehicle performance monitoring. The fuel card integration has enabled us to monitor fuel purchases to ensure everyone continues to abide by our fleet fuel guidelines. The driving behavior reporting has dramatically improved our fleet's driving.

Cons

We really don't have many objections to the software. Possibly the developers could provide a screen saver function to protect large TV's like we use to display content from the application.

We have been using for Fleetmatics for a year. It has converted us from running our business and specifically dispatching like bats. Now we can provide accurate ETAs, see if our mechanics made wrong turns and see that the time they state that they are at a location is what reality is.

Pros

It strips away the veil of our mechanics in the field guesstimating how far they are from their destination, how long they feel they have been at their destination/job site and if they are taking side trips on the company clock.
We can manage the preventative maintenance of our fleet and see how many miles each vehicle has traveled.

Cons

It does cost nearly monthly, but the value you get added for your customers and dispatch to manage instead of run their function in the business.

Advice to Others

This is like having a security system 24/7 on that which you used to be blind - what are our guys doing in the field? Where are our guys really in the field?

Fleetmatics customer service is one of the worse I have ever seen. Horrible with replying back to emails and also with the service itself. We've had devices that are sent to us that are not functioning correctly. Management on their side does not respond in a timely manner, and we have had multiple complaints with no improvement in service.

tracking is the only thing that works.

the only thing I like about it is the tracking. I can find my trucks with no problems however I paid for the tracking and the elds . I now pay for someone elses eld solutions and im still getting charged for theirs.

Cons

I wouldn't know because they cant make it work. I was told that the system could be used on android and IOS but it only connects to apple products and still don't work like it should.

I don't know where to start but how about how many accidents this has gooten me out of on fault or false claims on my company vehicles when it showed it was no where around. How about the 100% reliability of it or the great customer service.

good product but awful customer service fix your customer service and bill people correctly it would benefit you in the long run.

Cons

Be careful they will charge you before you even get the devices installed, We were waiting on additional parts for the install and we were charger for 10 days even though the devices were not installed. Equipment was returned and cancelled service found a better solutuion for half the price. and better service.

Nothing!!! Would never use them or refer them! They have a lot of fine print, when your contract is over the fine print says that it's not over. I would never do business with a company that is so sneaky! I rate them an "F" I would recommend anyone shopping to run as fast as you can in the opposite direction!

Cons

They force renewals on you with some fine print. Will not call you back, will not shut these things off, their A/R department will call to harass, but you can't get anyone else. I told them I would pay if they came today to shut them off, they refused!

Tracking equipment keeps on messing up. And the system does not inform you, you have to check each equipment individually to make sure they are all working properly. Im having to replace 5-10 trackers every week, and it takes me an average of 30 minutes of being on the line with them arguing over replacements. And don't even start me on the ELD's!! I'll save my fingers from all that typing thanks! Everything was just a big lie with this company.

WE HAVEN'T REALLY RECEIVED ANY BENEFITS FROM THIS PRODUCT.

Works consistently on our company vans/trucks (LESS THAN HALF OUR FLEET!!)

Cons

Does not work on our company equipment AT ALL!!
Performance and reports promised did NOT happen.
When called to complain, they tried to up-sell us on another version!
Can't get anyone to return calls or emails in customer service.
The sales team is excellent at selling. Then when they don't deliver on what they promised, you just get ignored after that.
Yet, they stick you in a 3-year contract you can't get out of even if more than half of your units don't work!

Venting and letting the next consumer to run from this product

Pros

Nothing - We are locked into a contract and still have 2 more years to fight with them. Buyer beware.

Cons

Their installers put in 1 year ago. Supposedly they could service anywhere the unit was. NOT. The units have been replaced repeatedly and work for a few days and break again.

It works good to track but they lock you into there contract. So make sure you set a reminder to when you need to send a letter.

Cons

Try and cancel and good luck, they use strong arm attempts to keep you. Found a better solution for my company. Spoke to them about this, when we went to cancel they told us we were auto renewed. This was never metntioned to use during prior conversations. And the offered a buy of over a year.

Pros

Verizon based communication works very well for us in this area. Reliable. Ease of use. Handles geofencing very well. Reporting is very good as well.

Cons

Does not support drivers logs if they are changing jurisdictions between the US and Canada. Our drivers must use US logs while in both countries.

Vehicle tracking, idle times and vehicle usage

Tracking is pretty good and fairly accurate, easy to use once set-up. Reporting is ok too and comprehensive

Cons

The sales team, they will rope you into a 3 year contract promising you the world, then they "allow" anyone in your company to add devices, each of them run on a separate contract, which then needs to bought-out.
My problem is that they allow "anybody" to add devices which holds the owner responsible for the cost and buy-outs.

I would not recommended for this reason, and caution everybody entering into agreements with them to limit the user

I cannot attest to the software itself; however, I can tell you that if I could give zero stars I would. Let's be honest, customer service is just as vital to the consumer as the software itself.

My experience: I was lied to from the beginning by a sweet talking salesman. It seemed this software would be a good fit for the new business model we were implementing. I stated my reservations to the salesman as we were embarking on a new phase, and about our new model not ending up being a good fit with their software. His response, "no problem we'll do a trial run etc etc." Come to find out it wasn't and they went back on their word and kept auto-deducting the monthly fee. My company ( 8-10 million a year and I'm just the Director of Operations) was forced to stay in the contract when we tried to cancel as I was promised. The company (actually me personally as I vouched for them to the owner) had to pay some amount for a software that I was promised they would let me out of. Every time I would call in the beginning someone would say "we'll call you back," no calls. This went on for weeks and then surprise I was passed my cancellation date. Then someone called me back after that date passed!

I could go on and on; however, just beware if you proceed with this company, you might get good, or even great software, but in the end you will get terrible and frustrating professionalism. You have no one to blame but yourself because there are so many good software companies to choose from! By the way, this is a short version with many other documented examples left our for brevity reasons.

These guys put on a great show by the salespeople when they are trying to get you to sign a contract but once you sign a contract forget it. Tech support is the worst tech support in the world. We were installing in our fleet of 25 truck and their GPS tracking did not work from the start. We installed it to basically track truck mileage for IFTA Fuel Tax purposes. We only managed to install in about five trucks before we realized that it did not work and how bad the tech support was so we stopped the install.
Their GPS system would show our trucks is other countries (showed one truck in Brazil on day. We are located in the United States). Another time that showed one vehicle driving over 100,000 miles in one day. Again we were paying IFTA taxes based on their GPS tracking.
Their final determination was that all of the ECM on our trucks were bad and they suggested we replace them at certain cost each for five trucks. They finally stopped returning phone calls and they locked us out of our online portal. Because we had problems from the start we were not paying the monthly fees and finally sent them a letter terminating our contract and told them to come get their equipment. Never heard back from them. There is something wrong with this company. Rumor is that they do not own the software and are at the mercy of another software vendor.

Fleetmatics has billed me EVERY MONTH for over a year and a half and has YET TO PROVIDE ME WITH A CONSTANT WORKING SOFTWARE!
They will continually tell you they are working on it, or someone will contact you, but you will be operating without Fleetmatics working...so in essence...your paying for nothing! And beware of the 3 yr contract...that is to lower you in and stick you with a 3 yr bill....it doesn't matter if they provide you with the service your paying for!!!! OH NO!!!...they just keep stringing you along and you get nothing....I stopped paying them for something I wasn't getting....they of course are hitting my credit and trying to collect..and you know what!!!!? I'd rather have the bad credit rating and bad mouth Fleetmatics every chance I get for the rest of my, then to continue to pay them money for something I am not receiving!!

I've had this product for just over 2 years now tracking 17 trucks. Overall, I like the software, the mobile app, the fuel integration, mileage tracking, and service notifications. We've had a few issues with the installed units, but the installation team (which is subcontracted out) is very prompt and responsive to getting the issues resolved. My account rep and sales team, however, are a different matter altogether.
First off, most of the time I call customer service, I will inevitably be transferred at LEAST 2 times to a different department, and will have to explain the issue in full each and every time. I had a billing dispute (where they charged me for an add-on e-log that was never received nor installed in my trucks) and they refused to issue me a credit or even really address the issue. Their entire attitude is basically "well, we shipped them out (to the wrong address) and it's not our fault you didn't install them". I've spoken with my account rep, his boss, and even the Customer service manager. Not only will they NOT respond to calls or messages (they never answer the phone), but emails go unanswered as well. I'm currently fighting them to buy out my contract so I can find a company that will actually provide service to their customers. Do your homework folks... Good product, TERRIBLE customer service!
