The tracking and monitoring ability that is provided by Motive, gives our organization real-time information as to where all of our vehicles are located at any given time. Yes, it even shows the vehicles traveling down the roadway in real-time. The monitoring system allows us the ability to coach drivers based on an actual scoring system that is provided by the telematics of the vehicle. Seeing (with video) how your drivers actually drive is so important. Drivers with poor driving habits are allowed to be identified and coached. This gives transportation risk management a whole new perspective allowing you to reduce incident frequencies. #### Cons It would be great if Motive could redesign how videos are catalogued when a driver creates an event. The ultimate benefit of this system is to eliminate risky drivers and reduce accident frequencies. For example, Activity report has Summary and Detail. You can see total mileage by date and period. It is very easy to check driving miles and idle time when you calculating the driver pay. #### Cons Drivers upload log sheets as documents. When I download them directly, it creates a PDF file. The first page is a useless header. If I want the image only, I have to click and download from the inside. One of the first to offer a free to use/ try before you buy kind of deal. It was a great way to let people experience what would soon be coming down the road in the near future for HOS compliance... Literally! It was good back then and has only gotten better! Fast forward to 2026, the same awesome service plus some added features that stand at the top of the leader board with the best ELD products on the market. It should be listed right next to the graph. 2) The times on the graph at the end of each duty status should be in minutes NOT percent of an hour. 3) It would be great if there was an external button a driver could hit to mark and save a video file. So, even if they are not involved in an incident they can go back and find the file to be reviewed and sent to the police or concerned parties. As it is now, unless there is a event detected ie: hard braking or cornering etc, it is almost impossible to find the video. For example, if parked in a dock or at a truck stop and driver sees another truck hit somebody else's truck or damages property, it would be nice to be able to retrieve that video file. #### Reasons for choosing Motive I didn't like samsara so i wanted to try something new. I can show someone how to use this product in 10min and expect that he or she will be able to do the bare minimum required of them with this. Or I can take the afternoon and show someone how to make it work for them personally and the best way for them to use it. #### Cons There are a lot of gaps in the GPS service. I notice at least 3 times a month, the gps stops tracking. It will then randomly pick up again. The reports are great and real-time tracking is amazing #### Cons I don't like the fuel program (which is important to me). There should be an easier way to make corrections than one entry at a time - very time consuming and usually makes for a bad day! I think you guys have a great product, and your customer service is truly the icing on the cake. #### Reasons for switching to Motive When ELDs first came out Verizon jumped right on board to provide the product and everyone was scrambling to find a carrier because most companies had procrastinated hoping that the bills would not pass making them necessary. Verizon made lots of promises with all the flash and glam -- but sadly I don't think they knew what they had just bit off. It was very frustrating to trucking companies as well as the drivers. One of my drivers came in and talked to me about KeepTruckin he said he used the ap on his phone and it was phenomenal, so I made the call and talked to sales. I would definitely recommend to anyone starting out, as there's a ton of regulations to keep up with, use Motiv to help with your ELD needs, but the IFTA tax portion is a MUST HAVE. #### Ratings breakdown - Ease of use: 5/5 - Value for money: 4/5 - Customer support: 5/5 - Functionality: 5/5 #### Pros Motive- Formally Keep Trucking, was a great ELD software to help out drivers stay compliant. Easy view of all clocks from homepage. Reports and logs are easily accessable. Ifta Fuel Tax Reporting made simple. #### Cons Cost. We’ve had a three way call with one particularly outstanding young man who assisted an older driver on our fleet with unbelievable patience. He was over the top amazing. Other times I’ve had to call about the same issue repeatedly - which has been referred to engineering at least twice but I never heard back from anyone… and it still isn’t fixed. Our business has lots of room to improve - and so does Keep Trucking:) #### Cons Keep Trucking doesn’t have a way - presently, to keep track of dispatches and load info. It has all the features we wish we had in our old system and coupled with outward-facing , integrated cameras it has allowed us to have greater confidence from our insurance company allowing us considerations we previously didn't have such as considering driver applicants with less than two years experiance. #### Cons Since we are a brand new user of KeepTruckin, we are still in our learning curve so the answer may change over time, but right now I wish the reporting options were more robust. #### Reasons for choosing Motive Putting aside the robust features of KeepTruckin, we experienced a very professional and balanced sales approach by their representative. The UI alone is enough reason for me not promote motive or recommend to those seeking similar software. Motive is easy to use, laid out to where everything is easily accessible. It's an overall good system, I've had a couple of challenges. I feel there should be assigned TEAMS to handle accounts/issues. The reason being, when I call in I get a different person each time and then a CASE number is created and then I have to wait for a response via email. I believe in good old customer service with live individuals to get things rectified. Motive allows for us to track our fleet/assets but there are many times the Solar Gateways need to be recharged and it makes it difficult for us if the asset is sitting at an offsite far way location. Motive has supplies us with cables to recharge the Gateway but if my asset loses charge while in a different state, how do I find it and recharge it? This happens more frequently than desired....just frustrating. #### Cons I wish there was a way to input more than one destination address because our trucks have multiple stops as route trucks and I have to continuously make changes rather than inputting all the address at once and watch my driver's progress. I've brought this up to Motive many times. I should be able to input the multiple addresses/route and watch the progress of my driver rather than feel as though I am babysitting them and asking them to call in after every drop. #### Reasons for choosing Motive Sold on product and cost.
