When this happens, the unit disconnects and stops transmitting vehicle updates and location data. - Sometimes one screen (maybe camera screen) will say the driver is ON DUTY and another screen (hour of service report) will say the driver is DRIVING so it's not 100% uniform across the platform. We have now used footage to dispute damage claims and com out victorious. I am looking forward to the newer features that are coming out. #### Cons I least like the self-coaching feature. The safety department I am in is small, and we review footage daily, but do not have the time to coach each driver. I am 100% Samsara now. It is very reliable and has an overall ease of use. The dashboard is easy to teach drivers, and they pick it up fast. The cameras and the playback video is much easier to see and use vs Netradyne that I have also used in the past. I have had recent help from customer support as well. Their patience and thoroughness is also much appreciated. I also love the having my Fleet Screen up all day to reference where everyone is. Cuts down on calling them constantly to track their eta. Overall, Samsara has been a solid tool for fleet management and dispatch operations. The GPS tracking is accurate, the dashboard gives good visibility into driver and vehicle activity, and the video features add an extra layer of accountability and safety. Customer support has also been helpful when we’ve needed assistance. Being able to see exactly where drivers are and track routes throughout the day makes dispatching much easier and reduces the need to constantly call drivers for updates. My overall experience with Samsara as a new Safety and compliance person has literally taught me things with in my job duties that have changed over the past 25 years. Which is a great thing. The training video and course work is self explanatory. Customer support when something goes wrong is on top of the issues an resolve them in a timely fashion for continued use of all platforms within Samsara. Cameras and video quality is exceptional and precise. The tracking system within Samsara has help in locating assets that would have otherwise been lost. #### Cons Some of the reports That I use could be better when looking for a specific driver or asset. Sometimes comes up with driver or asset not found. In general, we are satisfied, and we do believe Samsara can improve many things to attract even more customers. Would I recommend them? Yes. But would everyone accept it right away? The cameras could still be improved, but overall I’m happy with the system. #### Cons I don’t really like the constant updates that slow things down, or the new features that show up without a clear explanation and often aren’t needed. The payment process is also a bit unclear. There are good things, but there’s definitely room for improvement. The IFTA reports could definitely be improved, as well as better control over speeding. I also want to mention the updates the data connection is limited, and with weekly updates this often causes incorrect hour calculations for drivers. When it comes to hours, this is a real issue, especially because Samsara is considered one of the best ELD devices in the USA, and my company uses it mainly because the logs cannot be edited. Because of that, Samsara should improve its services and make things easier for drivers, not force them to do “math problems” just to guess how many hours they will have. This platform has become a one-stop shop for most of my driver/truck related tasks. The data available for helping me build a strong safety culture is top notch. In addition to video snips that I can review with drivers, I am able to deep dive so many different factors (speed, accelerator on/off, etc) and supply so many hard data points to the drivers and help them see exactly what happened and why. In addition, the videos and data help me fairly dismiss an event when we find something triggered for the "right" reasons, which protects their safety scores. Example...a harsh brake event because a deer ran out in front of the driver. Harsh braking was the correct action. From an administrative perspective, reviewing DVIRs, HOS, driver efficiency, etc is easy and seamless. The menu layouts are well organized and intuitive. The system reacts quickly to my clicks with very little load time. The overview of my fleet is used daily to quickly allow me to see where my drivers are at any time. Trucks are often passed from driver to driver and the ability to make timing judgements based on where they are has been invaluable. Specifically, Samsara has significantly improved driver safety, data analysis, and overall operational efficiency. Our drivers consistently follow their scheduled routes, conduct mandatory pre-route and post-route vehicle inspections, and submit digital vehicle inspection reports (DVIRs). This technology is critical for driver safety and efficiency. It allows us to know the real-time location of our drivers, facilitate necessary rerouting, and provide immediate location data in emergency situations. #### Cons I have noticed inconsistencies with the real-time alerts. Recently, one of my drivers was involved in a car accident, but I did not receive an accident alert. Instead, the only notification I received was a harsh brake alert. This suggests the accident alert functionality may not be working reliably. Second, for the route planning feature, it would be highly beneficial if we could be more precise when choosing the departure times for our drivers and other related schedule details.
