You get the latest and the greatest when using CRYENGINE, and it has powered some great AAA titles in the recent years, namelyCrysis, Kingdom Come and the Sniper Ghost games. Cons: The engine itself is excellent, but it is impaired by its poor documentation. The documentation is thin, and has archaic examples and code. Trying to do something when you are new will mostly lead you down a rabbit hole. The community is kind of non-existent and the resources/tutorials are sparse.
