### Rating distribution

- 3 stars: 39 reviews (2%)
- 2 stars: 9 reviews (0%)

### Most mentioned pros

- It's an extremely powerful editing app and it keeps photos and files intact better than a lot of drawing and painting software. If you have adobe suite, it's also easy to shift files from app to app, link them, and work in multiple spaces at once.
- i like ptich tool, blending effect, brush tool, imaghe editing features like clarity, adjustment, face makeup and everything.
- From a brand-building and web development perspective, Adobe Photoshop serves as a highly versatile foundation for bringing visual concepts to life. Whether I am mapping out the structural layouts for new websites, vectorizing clean logos, or executing crisp image edits, the software provides the precision necessary to deliver professional client assets. While it can sometimes feel like overkill for simple edits, its robust feature set ensures that every asset created perfectly aligns with a client's broader corporate identity before the final design moves into production.

### Most mentioned cons

- This severe limitation completely restricts your mobility, forcing you to remain tethered to a powerful workstation rather than allowing you to seamlessly transition your daily workflow to lighter, more portable hardware on the go.
- My high-end workstation still exhibits lagging problems when I handle large PSB files and multiple Smart Objects.
- the massive adoption of a.i. tools, the automatic ingestion of your own images for training, the ongoing changes in their ToS to accomodate their a.i. building makes now everything shady and doubtful.

I can say my experience so far for the past years has being phenominal so far, has better tools and photo editing capabilities than most softwares out there.

#### Ratings breakdown

#### Pros

I love the flexibilty, of its tools and they offer a wide range of possibilities in the photo editing and design space.

### Adobe Photoshop: Grounded by Its Own Heavy Lifting

From a brand-building and web development perspective, Adobe Photoshop serves as a highly versatile foundation for bringing visual concepts to life.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

What I appreciate most about Adobe Photoshop is its foundational layer system and its long-standing history of pioneering advanced isolation features. Coming from a software background, the stacking logic makes perfect sense—the way an element positioned above or below another dynamically dictates the visual outcome on the canvas is both intuitive and incredibly powerful for complex editing. Furthermore, having used tools like the Magic Eraser long before mobile devices popularized automated background removal, the platform's ability to seamlessly isolate, mask, and manipulate specific elements of an image remains unmatched in my daily workflow.

#### Cons

The biggest drawback of Adobe Photoshop is its rigid lack of mobile optimization and its high hardware performance threshold. While Adobe is clearly attempting to target the smartphone market, the application heavily relies on desktop-class processing power and fails to scale down effectively for lower-spec mobile devices. This severe limitation completely restricts your mobility, forcing you to remain tethered to a powerful workstation rather than allowing you to seamlessly transition your daily workflow to lighter, more portable hardware on the go.

#### Reasons for choosing Adobe Photoshop

Why did you consider Photopea over Adobe Photoshop? Photopea was considered as an alternative because its free, web-based architecture provides the exact mobile accessibility and lightweight flexibility that Adobe Photoshop lacks. The ability to pull up a full-featured, layer-based editor directly in a mobile browser without being tethered to a high-end desktop CPU makes it incredibly appealing for quick edits on the move or when working away from a primary workstation. For a user who values mobility and needs to make agile updates without a heavy hardware footprint, Photopea's zero-cost entry and instant cross-platform availability offer a massive practical advantage.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 3/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 4/5

#### Pros

It is the best software I have ever used for digital art designs. It has such a huge variety of tools to edit images and with so much ease for my graphic design work.

#### Cons

Sometimes it can become overwhelming with the amount of tools and settings it offers if you are a beginner.

#### Reasons for switching to Adobe Photoshop

Because Photoshop is more widely used than photopea and allows more options while exporting the projects.

I like it a lot overall. Once you understand how to get what you want from it. I've never had any lessons, so I've been mostly self taught and utilize info I find for what I'm trying to do.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 2/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 3/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

For over a decade I had a photo video business (before AI), so I used the photoshop 5 suite. Now I use photoshop elements to do what I need. When I stopped my business, the monthly fees for using adobe products were too much for me, so I bought Elements. I use it in conjunction with A.I. to achieve my goals for a finished product. Since AI can be "glitchy", I do the basics with AI and then use layers to create my final image(s).

#### Cons

I didn't like it when they went to the "rent not buy" model. While your upgrades are automatic, it's just not financially feasible for hobbyists, or small jobs.

#### Reasons for choosing Adobe Photoshop

I was already used to using it and liked what it can do, and GIMP was too different for me to learn when I already was familiar with photoshop

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

I love all the different things that can be done with adobe photoshop. It can be used in my personal life as well as with my business. It works great for editing photos. I use it for designing my business cards. The logo and graphics can all be edited in the same place. I like that I can a yearly fee to use all of the tools. I can switch from my personal use to business use using a login giving it an extra security feature.

#### Cons

Their is a lot of learning to use photoshop. I am constantly watching video tutorials to do different designs. I had a problem with billing and trying to get an actual person to help me took a lot of effort.

#### Reasons for switching to Adobe Photoshop

I wanted to try something new to use in my business.

Whether we're making images for online listings or eye-catching graphics for social media, Photoshop is indispensable to us. It's useful and allows me to be creative with it, which is great, but there's definitely a learning curve when it comes to everything it does. I would really like to see Adobe come up with a more company-size specific pricing structure. Nevertheless, it is the top option in case you are serious in relation to designing and precision.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 3/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

When it involves making more in-depth mockups for our apparel, particularly when we’re trying to demonstrate various layers or fabric textures to customers, Photoshop makes it much simpler. I really appreciate the flexibility of masks and the blending options, it's like working with the fabric itself. The choice of font is excellent for branding – down to the deepest level of typographic details is a lifesaver in projects that are constrained.

#### Cons

For smaller machines this can be too much software, particularly if you're working with higher resolution imagery for product catalogues. Sometimes the updates disrupt work processes, this can be frustrating, especially if it's on a tight deadline. Yeah, I really like Photoshop and Photoshop is a worthwhile investment, but being a smaller company, the subscription can be a little bit pricey — it'd be nice to have some sort of subscription pricing option for a smaller business like us.

Overall I am very happy! Originally started using when Photoshop was a single download product with "keys" to make it function - I have loved moving over to Creative Cloud and getting updates as they come.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

I have been using Photoshop for 12+ years, so the list of what I enjoy about it is rather long. The biggest advantage to me is the wide range of tools they offer, and how often Adobe updates these. My current favorite has been the AI Generative Fill - it has saved my photos more than a few times and has been a MUST in my toolkit!

#### Cons

I would LOVE an automatic update system. I find myself accidentally an update behind due to the manual nature of most updates. This is something very small, as even the "previous" version of Photoshop doesn't usually stop working (unless I find myself VERY behind... but that has only happened once) and this isn't a big issue at all.

#### Pros

It gives you complete control—from basic adjustments like brightness and contrast to advanced tasks like layer-based compositing, retouching, and digital painting. The layer system is especially powerful, letting you edit non-destructively and experiment freely without ruining the original image.

#### Cons

I have a friend that is a professional photographer. I have seen him do amazing things with Adobe photoshop. He told me it was easy and suggested I try it out. I love all the functions but even after two years of use it's a bit overwhelming at times. This is the standard for almost every professional photographer, many graphic designers and digital artists. Well worth the cost in my opinion.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 2/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Love the multitude of available tools available for basic photo touch ups to highly detailed digital art projects. I have tried several other photo editing programs and none compare.

#### Cons

Photoshop is not for amateurs unless they have a lot of time to invest in learning how to use Adobe photoshop. I actual hired a friend that is adept at it to show me what he knows but there are still features I have never tried.

Photoshop has upgraded itself with cutting edge technology for as long as I've used it. Beginning in the late 90's when it was fledgling and things moved on CDs to the new AI features today, Photoshop has brought the best and brought it fast enough to be edgy.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Flexibility: Tools; Exports; Workspaces. The Tool set provides functionality for everything I have ever wanted to do. The multiple tool sets curled inside a primary icon for the set keep the Tools panel at a reasonable size while creating extensibility. Additionally - and I always do this because Paint Bucket is something I use quite often - you can edit the Tools in the panel. So personalized configuration here is an excellent feature. Exports: I work with a variety of formats: ebooks; hardcopy; social media; and PhotoShop gives me RGB for digital; CMYK for print. Print often requires higher densities. I can do that, too. Workspaces: I can change my workspaces around in case I need to work on multiple images at the same time. And it links to Adobe Stock for Images; connects to Bridge, InDesign and is miw being updated with sophisticated AI tools, for example, seamlessly blending new images into existing backgrounds.

#### Cons

The order of the Tools panel. I always think of Photoshop as a production tool and maybe the out-of-the box Tools panel contents are set up for the more creative folk.

I taught myself to use Photoshop with just a few YouTube tutorials and created images that were shared on social media for my organization which were seen by millions of followers. It's the best image editing software on the market and is surprisingly user friendly.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 3/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Photoshop is the most advanced editing software and has the capability to create complex graphics in a logical way. I love using photoshop layer features to create complex social media graphics in a way you never could on Canva.

#### Cons

The cost of Adobe Photoshop is hard to justify when Canva is available for so much cheaper. I LOVED Photoshop before they switched to the subscription model but for certain projects it's hard to justify the price.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

It is a fully comprehensive piece of software which is crucial in my role as a graphic designer and pre-press technician. The customer support is good with some really helpful tutorials and there is a lot of automation built in in regards to image editing making it a lot easier to use when creating designs.

#### Cons

It is hard to keep up to date with the changes and updates. It is capable of some clever things and it is a learning curve! Also the worst thing I find is that it no longer supports Pantone colours. This has been a huge set back.

Adobe Photoshop is a full featured photo editing package, it has a ton of capability and ability to create graphics and logos with ease.

### Photoshop is the best raster image editor, period

Like any Adobe program, Photoshop has quite the steep learning curve, and I'm sure that I've only tapped about 30-40% of its capabilities, even having used it for over a decade. That being said, I don't feel like I've ever had a raster image edit task that I couldn't accomplish in Photoshop. You're limited only by your imagination and knowhow, not the software itself.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Photoshop is absolutely necessary for photo editing and creating professional-level imagery. Even if you intend to export to other tools like Figma or Canva, Photoshop is the number one tool for creating the perfect foundation. From professional headshots to product imagery to whatever creative thing you can come up with, Photoshop is top-notch at refining colors, textures, lighting, and edges.

#### Cons

I only wish that Photoshop was still available as a standalone downloadable program file as opposed to being part of yearly subscriptions. I don't necessarily need the ongoing updates and would be content with it as is for now.

#### Ratings breakdown

#### Pros

I like the versatility it offers, the regular updates, which are usually very useful new tools that adapt to current technologies. It is also quite fast and smooth, if you have a good computer that supports it.

### Adobe Photoshop - It is THAT good!

It was hard to learn at first and I honestly don't like the jacked up price. There are opensource alternatives like Gimp, but they are just as hard to use and are not integrated with other software like Adobe has. The software itself is great and I would recommend it to anyone needing image editing for their graphic design.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 3/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Photoshop allows me to edit images in ways that other software cannot (even Adobe Photoshop Elements). I like that I have complete control and tools to change and enhance the color, size, DPI, quality, and effects to name a few of its abilities. But this just touches the service of its capabilities.

#### Cons

Photoshop is a HUGE learning curve for anyone new to Adobe products. You work with layers, channels and paths. I started using Photoshop around 1998 and there weren't YouTube tutorials then. It took me a long time to feel comfortable using it. Probably a year. However, today there are a lot of tutorials on YouTube and if you are the stubborn learner that I am, then you will love this software.
