Ditch the Adobe Creative Cloud subscription
As I occasionally use photo editing software in my field of work, for some of additional edits. Opening existing photoshop PSD files was a great WIN for me, and having a one off fairly priced piece of software was more appealing to me than getting sucked into the monthly subscription with Adobe Creative cloud. I have tried the accompanying iPad app and find it’s also nice to work with as well from desktop and iPad. Give it a go I don’t think you will be disappointed.
CONSSome of the habits and keyboard shortcuts from Adobe Photoshop are hard to forget and learning a few different approaches to some things takes time to learn.
Reasons for switching to Affinity Photo
The cost. A monthly subscription in Adobe Creative Cloud was costly considering how much I used the software. So a reasonably low cost one off fee to use Affinity Photo was just the perfect switch for me. Give it a go, I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

My favorite software
I switched to Affinity Photo at the beginning of the 2020 when they offered a three month trial. After the trial I happily bought Photo (and Publisher and Designer even though I didn't really need them at the time) because I learned to love it more than I ever loved Adobe Photoshop that I switched from. Affinity Photo is the single best photo editing program and I will recommend it to everyone I come in touch with. Switch to Affinity and save hundreds of dollars a year! My favorite part of Affinity software is that it is as capable as Photoshop but does not feel cheap like some other alternatives. It feels very well through through and the menus are all in the right places. The UI is comparable to Photoshop and it is very easy to make the switch. They even support .psd files in case you want to switch your current project over. I use it to make graphics for the videos I make, and to touch up photos I take. In both aspects, Affinity is a champion.
PROSAffinity Photo is the reason I don't bleed money on overly expensive programs that I only use a tiny portion of. It is inexpensive, reliable, and has all the features I ever needed!
CONSI would really want more customization options for key bindings. My drawing tablet does not support the current hotkeys well, but that's not only on Affinity but on the tablet manufacturer as well.
Reason for choosing Affinity Photo
Krita seemed to be geared more towards digital drawing and I needed a solid photo manipulation app.
Reasons for switching to Affinity Photo
Adobe Photoshop is an incredibly expensive solution. They have their software bundled and offer it only on subscription model. Affinity is not only cheap but is a one-time payment only.

Easy, plenty of tools and great result.
As a photographer, this software is packed with all the tools needed for editing my images. especially if you're coming from adobe's PS/Lightroom. took a while to get used to the interface and shortcut but the overall result was quite satisfying.
PROSAffinity Photo has all the tools I needed without any additional plugins. the ease of use and access to tools with a rich interface was helpful to quickly understand it after switching from lightroom/photoshop.
CONSLayers management is a bit behind compared to photoshop.
Reasons for switching to Affinity Photo
Adobe subscription plan was a bit expansive.

I love Affinity Photo as a Photoshop alternative
For image editing, I just don't find myself needing Photoshop any longer. As a user who uses many different apps infrequently, I was able to drop an expensive photoshop subscription and it's lock-in contract. I highly recommend Affinity Photo to anyone who needs a professional level image editor and wants to avoid Adobe's subscription based licensing.
PROSAffinity photo is an affordable photoshop alternative with much of the same feature set. Although given the choice between both I would still pick Photoshop, Affinity photo is much easier on the wallet for a freelance artist, and can do most of the same work. Affinity Photo also aims to make migration from photoshop easy, using a similar interface and workflow.
CONSThere are some features of photoshop that are missing from Affinity Photo. Overall, it's not as good for painting, and the UI and Shortcuts aren't always a 1:1 comparison. Sometimes I find a common feature in PS is missing from AP, or have trouble finding a particular feature.
Reason for choosing Affinity Photo
More professional, easier to migrate to
Reasons for switching to Affinity Photo
Adobe's products are now only available as an expensive recurring subscription, and the contracts often lock you in to introductory rates and long payment terms with early cancellation fees. If you use one or two apps on a regular basis it's not a problem, but if like me you need 10+ different apps from CAD to Image editing, these types of payment structures will bleed you dry.

Professional Quality, Budget Friendly Alternative to Photoshop
I can edit photos, create and manipulate graphic designs, as well as create SVG files for custom cut files.
PROSAs a long time Photoshop user I was looking for a replacement which would offer me a product with comparable features. Affinity exceeded my expectations and is offered at an amazing price point. Instead of paying a monthly fee I was able to purchase a lifetime license for all the functionality I needed plus some!
CONSI wish there was a more active support after purchase. While there are videos on youtube, I ended up purchasing the Affinity Photo Workbook (hardcover) to use as a reference. Well worth it and still substantially less expensive than Photoshop.
Reason for choosing Affinity Photo
All the features I needed for a one time price rather than an unending monthly expense.
Reasons for switching to Affinity Photo
I had an old version of Photoshop and was going to have to switch to the monthly subscription. I didn't want to get stuck with a monthly expense so I began looking for an alternative. Affinity came highly recommended by a colleague.

Beautiful and powerful
We tried the app as soon as it was presented and shortly after we decided that, despite some missing features of the first versions, it would become our image editing software. After years we do not regret the choice: the workflow runs fast and there are no limits. The app is constantly developing also on the reports of us users. No limits, very fast.
PROSUI and UX are the best, not for nothing the software has earned some design awards. Resources consumption is very good, so making changes and editing will be faster.
CONSIn my option, the very lost feature is a fully compatibility with Adobe PS smart objects: we can use embedded files as a an alternative.
Reasons for switching to Affinity Photo
Good design, simply UI, full list of features, very low cost (one-time).

Give up that monthly subscription
I switched to Affinity after trying numerous image editing software options that would get me away from the monthly subscription model. Affinity best met 95% of the requirements I was looking for and over time I've discovered other ways to get it to do what I want. It's great for creating flyers, ads, and graphics to use on FB, Twitter, and Instagram
PROSIt's so easy to use once you get over the learning curve. Even after 2 years I am still discovering more and more things that I thought were not possible with this software
CONSThere is a bit of a learning curve and some features do not work as I'd expect. I would also like other things implemented (adjustiblity per layer, etc) but I also understand that for the price point that's not something they are in a hurry to implement
Reasons for switching to Affinity Photo
I was tired of paying a monthly subscription for a product.

Starting now with editing photos? Start with Affinity
I'm not a professional graphic designer but with Affinity I am now able to do simple yet professional works. First of all it has a super affordable price: I hate this trend of subscriptions everywhere, for literally anything, it's expensive - especcialy if you dont' know exactly what you'll do with a software. Then it comes with a great collection of video tutorial, easy to understand even for me that I'm not english mothertongue; this allowed me to learn lots of stuff about photo editing and now I can manage every aspect of my job without evere asking to professional designer.
PROSIt's a real, reliable, professional software at a fixed (low) price.
CONSMy only quibble is that it takes a while to load itself. I have a Macbook Pro 2015 and it was once super quick, so recently I reset the entire Mac, on order to have it clean and fast: disappointedly Affinity still take long time to be ready.
Reason for choosing Affinity Photo
Because it has a fixed price and not a subscription.

Affordable Photoshop Alternative
I love how Affinity Photo has all of the features that a graphic designer needs to succeed. It has features comparable to that of Photoshop, but it's more affordable.
CONSI have some issues with patterns. Sometimes there will be a thin line between two objects in a repeating pattern. I looked up the solution to it, but it would be nice if this wasn't an issue at all. It's a minor issue, but still an issue nonetheless.
Reasons for switching to Affinity Photo
Subscription base model was not the one for me. I would much rather purchase and own a product up front, which is why Affinity Photo is a great alternative to Photoshop.

A good alternative to photoshop
Nevertheless, I love affinity photo, I use it daily and I've learned to work with its problems. It's an affordable piece of software, and since version 2, it's been offering some particularly interesting features. It doesn't yet compete with Adobe Photoshop, but it's getting closer.
PROSAffinity photo's interface is quick and easy to learn. The business model is interesting, with a one-time payment system (no subscriptions). It includes many of the same functions as Photoshop, making it suitable for a wide range of users.
CONSOn the other hand, Affinity isn't perfect: it's not optimized for Windows, and lags and bugs are common, even on powerful computers. Another particularly disconcerting point is its layer management, which is totally at odds with the competition. For example, there is no notion of a locked layer, which can prove problematic.

Affinity Photo is a great alternative to Photoshop
Price is the initial driver to move to Affinity photo. It offers all the facilities of a top end photo manipulation software package without the price. It does everything I need.
CONSComing from Photoshop the learning curve to do certain things was the biggest hurdle, but not insurmountable. I do miss some of the enhancements of photoshop, but as I rarely used them all, I found other ways to achieve the same effect. Think photoshop in the 90's!

A much cheaper alternative to Photoshop
I like how Affinity Photo is not subscription-based like the Adobe Apps. It's simply just a one-time payment for each of their programs
CONSIt's missing some tools that Adobe Photoshop has, along with some intelligent features such as automatic background removal, however, I can do this manually, it just takes a little bit longer.
Reason for choosing Affinity Photo

Best value for money for professional photo editing
There are many pros to using Affinity Photo. First and foremost, it is a high-quality photo editor with a ton of features. It also has an easy-to-use interface that makes creating and editing photos a breeze. Finally, its price point is very reasonable given the number of features it offers. It is almost comparable with Photoshop and a super reliable alternative. It's a great asset for every social media manager, content creator, and designer. I'm still used to photoshop, but I can achieve almost the same results with Affinity Products.
CONSThere are some cons to using Affinity Photo. One downside is that it can be a bit more difficult to learn than other photo editors, so if you're not an experienced user, you may take longer to master its features. However its still simpler than Photoshop, which is madness compared to Affinity Photo.

Looking to try Photoshop? Use this instead
If you are a business heavily invested in Adobe, the cost of switching may not be worth it. For everyone else, Affinity can save you insane amounts of money. As a casual photographer, I did not rely on many of Adobe's enterprise-oriented features (and related price tag). I got it on discount, but even at normal pricing, Adobe cannot compete for casual users.
PROSThe photoshop-like interface made it easy to switch over as a casual user with very little learning curve
CONSHaving to update by downloading an EXE from a website rather than having an app like Creative Cloud desktop is an annoyance

Great image editing software
It's a great cost effective photo/image editing/manipulation piece of software.
PROSAffinity Photo has a great set of features that are easy to use, much more cost effective than the market leader and if you use any other Serif/Affinity product the workflow is very similar. Lots of great features like background cleanup and object removal.
CONSSome bits can be quirky, but easy to get used to.
Reason for choosing Affinity Photo
It's available on Mac and Windows and iPad and just works, easy to use, works well with Affinity Designer and Affinity Publisher.

The perfect image editing software for your designs.
Affinity Photo is the most perfect and robust editing software with its multiple compelling features.
PROSOn my end, I have used Affinity Photo in combination with Affinity Design to achieve more conclusive results in terms of editing. Modifications can be made to images without altering the original image data.
CONSWhat I like least is that I find Affinity Design to be more advanced, and I feel more comfortable using it. That's why I've combined the two software together.

A nice complement to Affinity Designer.
Although I don't heavily edit photos, it is a great tool to use in conjunction with Affinity designer. It is a nice tool when you need a quick and easy way to edit photos. It has the more powerful features, which I have played around with and these are very good, but it is a much less overwhelming tool that can fit a variety of needs unlike Photoshop.
PROSEasy to use and great for editing photos. It has a comparable level of features to Photoshop, which are just as powerful, and in some cases are even better. The interface is very intuitive and it is a pleasure to use.

I absolutely love Affinity Photo
I use Affinity for virtually all of my personal projects. It's a staple of my workflow and I love using it. I'd recommend it to basically anybody who needs to edit photos.
PROSI stumbled onto Affinity years ago when I was too poor to afford a subscription to photoshop and wasn't adept enough to use GIMP proficiently. A few hours of messing around and a couple video tutorials later and I was using it pretty comfortably. It's followed me through several job and career changes and I'll be using it for years to come I'm sure.
CONSThere's REALLY not much to dislike. If I had to pick something it's that I don't think I can download a version for PC if I've paid on Mac. Small complaint but if I could use Affinity on my work computer I would be.
