Pros/Cons
  • Pros

  • Overall Canva is a nice solution if you are a non-designer like me. It's the capability to give outputs in different forms like PDF and SVG apart from PNG and JPG is really helpful in my case.
  • It is so much better in terms of user-interface than most other applications like it. I started my graphics adventures in a math/science program named "grapher" which makes canva look like a magician.
  • It's super easy to use even if you have little to no design experience, and has an amazing array of templates and design elements you can use for free or minimal costs.
  • Cons

  • What I miss the most is I can’t do a drop shadow on an object. Often I’ll have to create the rest of the design, export it, then open it to Photoshop and add that element and drop shadow there.
  • For instance, if I have text, a picture, and a box shape to outline the text, it can be extremely frustrating to move them around without accidentally moving the wrong item.
  • If I had to complain about something, I’d say the amount of screens I have to go through when I open it can be a little frustrating.

  • Pros

  • But is also is super easy to use, is part of gmail, great sharing capabilities, and has a lot of cool features.
  • Overall, I'm a huge fan of Google Slides and the fact that it is free is great. I use it to design most, if not all my presentations.
  • It is user friendly, easy to integrate with other tools, great customization, and solid accessibility.
  • Cons

  • Sometimes it’s very hard to work on it because if there is an error than you have to find out error 1st than work on it.
  • Often users' rights are lost and it has happened to me that a manager gives me rights for a presentation, but still I can not open it due to lack of rights.
  • The inability to export to .mp4 (or any video format) has made me frustrated, however. It's Google Slides's lack of themes and effects which caused me to seek other options.
