## Figma Pros and Cons

We analyzed 864 verified reviews for Figma to find out what actual users really think.

Select to learn more

Real-Time Teamwork Features

Figma enables multiple users to work together on the same project in real time, regardless of location or device. Built-in chat, commenting, and cloud-based access make it easy to share feedback, iterate quickly, and keep teams aligned throughout the design process.

Versatile Design Capabilities

Figma offers a wide range of design tools for creating web, mobile, and graphic assets. Its intuitive interface, templates, and auto-layout features help streamline workflows for both beginners and experienced designers, making it a popular choice for collaborative design projects.

Intuitive Prototyping Tools

Figma provides user-friendly prototyping features that allow designers to build interactive, high-fidelity prototypes with ease. Dynamic layouts, reusable components, and plugin support help teams visualize and test ideas efficiently before development.

Slow Performance With Large Files

Figma often experiences lag, slow loading times, and high resource usage when handling large or complex design files. These performance issues can disrupt workflows, especially on less powerful devices or when working with many artboards and images.

Confusing Workspace Navigation

Navigating Figma's menus, sidebars, and file browser can be unintuitive, especially in large projects. Users find it difficult to locate features, manage components, and orient themselves within complex workspaces, leading to frustration and slower workflows.

Limited Export And Import Options

Exporting and importing files in Figma can be challenging, with restricted support for formats like .xd and Illustrator. Users report issues with SVG exports, managing deleted files, and difficulties saving or reusing design elements across projects.

Figma is the best tool for interface design

5

I have used Figma from the beginning in my everyday work as a UI/UX designer. It is intuitive, it has everything you need for the interface design process, and they always surprise us with some new tools and functions. I want to emphasize the function of teamwork and collaboration there, you can work with your team on the same document in online mode, leave comments, and make changes right there. You can create components and whole libraries/UI kits for your projects and share them with your team. This function is highly important, especially when your team creates a huge interface with many screens. It is absolutely worth the money; the pricing is fair. Also, there is a free version if you want to try it out or use it only for personal projects. It is perfect for interfaces, prototypes, and wireframes. With a new function, 'FigJam', it works for brainstorms, mind maps (very useful), and other projects when you need to create a structure or a user journey map, for example. I love the 'prototyping' function; it can be used for live prototypes, for navigation tests between the screens, or even to present your product to the client. Your projects are stored online, and I didn't have any problem with it, but maybe you should consider having backups sometimes. Actually, I didn't have any issues at all during my work on Figma, so I've never had to contact support. Each Figma update comes with new features or subtle interface changes. I use it for digital products and for some print projects, because there is no more comfortable product for a clean design, interface design. But, for more advanced drawings, designs, or professional photo editing, I use other products. There is a community option, where you can find mock-ups, icons, and other digital assets for your products. Also, there are many useful plug-ins, for example, for finding icons, stock images, or lorem ipsum texts and putting them into your interface. The plug-in library is huge, and it is always updating, such like the community. For developers, there is an option to convert your design directly to code. Of course, the app doesn't do all the work for you, but this function might be helpful. Also, there is an app called 'Figma Mirror', where you can see what your interface looks like on your phone in online mode. This is so useful. Figma is my digital workspace, I'm happy with it, and I have all my projects there. I totally recommend it, and I'm planning to continue working there.

Functionality

Pros:

The best interface is when you forget about the interface. Figma was made by designers for designers. You can concentrate on the design fully, and there are plenty of tools in Figma for it.

Cons:

Figma is primarily a tool for web design/interface design and other digital design products. If you want to use it for print design, you may find some difficulties: there is no CMYK profile there and there is no export option in 300 dpi (but you can use some tricks for it or a plugin). The new draw tool is pretty nice, but the brush settings are limited compared with other software. You need an internet connection when you work there; sometimes it might be limiting.

Reasons for switching to Figma

It was a natural switch; the company where I worked made this decision.

You'd be crazy to use anything else at this point in time!

5

I'd used multiple different UI/UX design tools as a product manager. There was JustInMind, Sketch, Adobe XD, and a few others, but Figma was a genuine breath of fresh air. I have no plans of switching platforms again, and I know they will continue releasing even more useful features and improvements.

Functionality

Pros:

From a product management standpoint, it provides us our one-source-of-truth for all of our product designs, and it still gives me the freedom to experiment with designs and make prototypes. It also helps out our developers in a massive way. They have a very clear vision of what the final product will need to look like.

Cons:

It's difficult to come up with any true downsides to using Figma, but I could mention that you really need to take time to learn the different modes, methods of editing, keyboard shortcuts, and especially how formatting works. I banged my head against the wall several times initially, but its because I attempted to jump right in without doing the homework beforehand.

Reasons for switching to Figma

Adobe XD quickly fell behind Figma on features and functionality. We switched and haven't looked back even once.

Pros:

The best part about Figma is the cross platform possibility which Adobe XD could not provide. The new AI integrations also serve a huge purpose making figma a peak creative platform. Also their customer support is one of the best in the field.

Cons:

In overall, Figma is one of the best Designing tools. But the limitations of plugins and their paid usage is a downside I've noticed in figma. It also has minimal possibility for animations but it covers up the flaw through its AI and prototyping with smooth navigation.

Reasons for switching to Figma

Easy access through all devices because of the Cross Platform feature and the advanced Prototyping.
