Despite the ways of the roving herds — I don't want to sit and give myself carpal tunnel click-clicking drop down menus when the old-style command-shift-F (e.g.) and a few tab keys to enter a value works with half the effort. - However, using the software today, I need to often work around dozens of features that I don't need (and quite frankly don't understand) to complete my page layouts for print. - I have experienced payment and billing errors, including an annual subscription not being renewed automatically, which created unnecessary disruptions. ## QuarkXPress customer reviews Showing reviews 1-25 of 201 (page 1). ### My favourite app for desktop publishing - Overall rating: 4/5 - Reviewer: Peter C. - Verified reviewer: Yes - Industry: Graphic Design - Company size: 2-10 employees - Product usage: Used daily for more than 2 years - Reviewed: May 2026 - Review source details: This reviewer was invited by us to submit an honest review and offered a nominal incentive as a thank you. Overall, I like working in QuarkXPress. II've been using it for about 20 years now. Tt works well with bringing in images and creating magazine layouts. My only issue has always been with using font programs that never seem to work smoothly with QuarkXPress. #### Ratings breakdown - Ease of use: 4/5 - Value for money: 4/5 - Customer support: 3/5 - Functionality: 4/5 #### Pros I've used QuarkXPress for years and am comfortable with it, especially when there are upgrades. I've been creating magazine layouts for over twenty years and find this program to be well suited for that. #### Cons Working in QuarkXPress I've always found there to be issues with font programs and QuarkXpress. There seems to be a lack of compatibility . #### Reasons for choosing QuarkXPress Because I've been using it for years and didn't have time to learn a new program. #### Vendor response Thanks for your review Julia! No incentive was offered I’ve used quarkxpress for over ten years, longer than any other single piece of software. I converted to indesign kicking and screaming because of how different the workflow was because I was so picky. If you’re just starting out, I’d suggest you look at indesign. If you’re picking up someone else’s work, you can almost everything indesign can do quark can do too. #### Ratings breakdown - Ease of use: 4/5 - Value for money: 3/5 - Customer support: 2/5 - Functionality: 3/5 #### Pros After Apple’s Pages application, it is the easiest and simplest major print design software out there that you can use fairly intuitively if you’ve used a computer graphics program before. Just watching some tutorials online you can easily edit other people’s work fairly easily without much training. The second best feature of quark is the powerful xtentions that exist out there on the market. Other programs had this too but quark was the first to do this. Xtentions really streamlined and automated a lot of repetitive design tasks like updating prices and phone numbers (xcatalog). #### Cons It lacks full transparency gradients and doesn’t have adequate photo layering capabilities like opacities and layer modes. It also lacks a wysiwyg font menu so you can’t see they style of the font you’re using until you select it and enter some type. Quark is also a bit unstable at times. Prone to crashes. --- ### Quark, an excellent tool for almost 30 years - Overall rating: 5/5 - Reviewer: Pauline C. - Verified reviewer: Yes - Industry: Design - Company size: Self-Employed - Product usage: Used daily for more than 2 years - Reviewed: December 2025 - Review source details: This reviewer was invited by the software vendor to submit an honest review and offered a nominal incentive as a thank you. Quark support has helped me anytime I had an issue #### Vendor response Thank you for sharing your feedback Pauline! For packaging label layouts and related technical literature, I find the reletive simplicity and lack of overt creative functionality beneficial. I have been using it continuously for over two decades, and generally I continue to love it! #### Ratings breakdown - Ease of use: 5/5 - Value for money: 4/5 - Customer support: 5/5 - Functionality: 5/5 #### Pros For the type of work I do (agrochemical labelling/technical literature) the reletive simplicity and straightforwardness of QuarkXpress is perfect. I have been using it continuously for over two decades! #### Cons An annoying glitch (the loss of the specific sizing function) that require a software restart. I thought it maybe be memory related but the problem has continued with my brand new Mac Studio #### Vendor response Thank you for sharing your feedback Steve! It's easy to use, good value for money and customer service is excellent, if I've ever had a problem it's been solved quickly - in an easy and friendly manner. #### Cons The colour dropper I cannot use, I'm probably doing it wrong and have never asked how to do it correctly but definitely baffles me. #### Vendor response Thanks for your review Janet! I have always found Quark Express intuitive to work with plus great "personal" customer service available if needed. #### Ratings breakdown - Ease of use: 5/5 - Value for money: 5/5 - Customer support: 5/5 - Functionality: 5/5 #### Pros Quark Express has always been the standard design software in my view and always has been, it really works well for designers that want to think for themselves rather than being lead by increasing AI tech. #### Cons The save button being to close to the don't save button as with one slight misjudgement all can go wrong embarrassingly quickly! #### Vendor response Thanks for your feedback Ian! I have used QuarkXPress since it came on the market. I used it instead of PageMaker (when that was the competing software), and I use it now instead of InDesign. I have been loyal because I appreciate that it supports the ways that designers think and the overall design process. #### Ratings breakdown - Ease of use: 5/5 - Value for money: 5/5 - Customer support: 5/5 - Functionality: 5/5 #### Pros QuarkXPress has always provided a great deal of flexibility in creating designs. The user interface is quite friendly, allowing me to edit text and images with ease. I like that it knows if I've edited an image already inserted into my document so that I simply can update the photo without deleting and reinserting. I have used it for single page flyers and posters as well as for multi-page documents. #### Cons The customer emails are not targeted enough. The notices are unclear as to whether the offers are for new customers only. I have called QuarkXPress a number of times over the years to clarify their promotions. I know that the technology exists to send the right email to the right people. #### Vendor response Thank you for sharing your feedback Sally - we’ll use it to improve. Quark overall, 5 stars. Very pleased! Thank you Quark! #### Ratings breakdown - Ease of use: 5/5 - Value for money: 5/5 - Customer support: 5/5 - Functionality: 5/5 #### Pros I've been using Quark for since it came out in the late 80's...and this iteration is by far the best yet. Very intuitive and almost a stand alone app with all the capabilities. I like the export function the best. I can create pdfs and pngs directly from the app! I don't have to crank up the old distiller anymore. #### Cons The only thing I do not like about Quark is that after exporting a pdf to my desktop for delivery to a client, the pdf icon does not render correctly in some cases. Mostly when there are gradients. Clients who see the icon believe that the real file is corrupt, which it is NOT. I have to explain to the client that the icon did not render correctly and that the file should be viewed after opening. I addressed this issue with Quark and they went deep and decided it may be an issue with the OS,so, it may not be a Quark issue at all. #### Vendor response Thanks so much for your review Jerry, it is great to see that you have been a long time user of QuarkXPress.
