Our home health agency is based in Dallas, TX. We have served patients in the Dallas metropolitan area for close to 10 years. What makes our organization unique is that we provide services across several programs like Medicare, Medicaid, PHC, CBA, and several other private insurances. We needed software that could help us effectively manage our operations, is easy to use, offered robust functionality, and offered good customer support. We were already using a web-based software that we considered to be the best in the industry. We desired a lot more out of our old system, but realized that there didn't seem to be more the vendor could offer us after repeated requests for new features. We were therefore surprised to learn about Axxess Agencycore software. We were initially skeptical about all the functionalities offered. It sounded too good to be true. After the demos, we decided to give it a try. We did not cancel our subscription with our old vendor because we were not sure how things would turn out. We signed up with Axxess in February 2011, and it is easily one of the smartest things we ever did as an organization. The training, support, and implementation were beyond our expectations. It took us about 60 days to complete a full implementation. The customer support team is very helpful. They are great. It is obvious that their background as a consulting company helps them, as their support staff is really knowledgeable. The software is easy to use; therefore our staff learned it very easily and quickly. The user interface is just pleasant. We can now bill multiple insurance companies electronically with ease. This is something we were unable to do with our previous vendor. Our census has grown by about 35% since we began using Axxess. We are grateful for what Axxess has done for home health. The quality of care we deliver is improved because of all the compliance tools incorporated in the software. Axxess Agencycore has really made a difference for our organization. I encourage other agencies to take a look to determine if it is the right fit for their organization.

Poor Customer Service for Return Calls
I like the feel and energy of the company.
PROSEase of use and features. Weekly training is very useful for new employees. Great support during and after Hour calls upon call in.
CONSToo many individual report tools that are not integrated. Can't print staff patient load. Schedule list all visits for that staff then you have to go in and delete repeated patients. Horrible customer service when it comes to return phone calls and specific issues with billing. Staff ignore and fail to return calls period. Seems like that the culture of dealing with clients with problems with software. Updates to software with no instructions on changes for new process. Billing insurance companies on Axxess needs work.

CONS1)Why, Why WHY do you send so much marketing information to us?? We like the software fine. We already pay for it. Why do you think you need to sell it even more? 2) THIS: I've been doing some chart reviews and noticed a few things from my PT's notes. Daily note issues: No place to add narrative under Homebound Status. Several of our companies have had audits and been dinged for this when clinicians aren't adding at least two reasons for HB status. One should based on the disease process and the other on a functional deficit that makes them homebound. The explicit instruction from the Home Health section of the APTA is to include items such as dependence on caregivers for management of assistive devices, supervision due to cognitive issues, etc. I would like to coach my clinicians to add this somewhere in the narrative or to ask Axxess to allow this. Any suggestions? How are other clinicians addressing the goals in their notes? While there is a 'progress made towards goals' section, I wasn't able to get the goals to copy and past into the narrative of my notes. No section to document coordination of care between disciplines, family, MD or ALF staff. I added this to the narrative but it would be great to cue the clinicians for this. Discharge summary: This is a light functional eval but without a treatment note, space for vitals, etc. Is there supposed to be a daily note attached to it? No way to compare progress since admit or towards goals. No place to document coordination of care for d/c planning - I added this to the narrative No cueing for discharge instructions to patient. Here is a response with tips from another admin here in the valley who uses this system: - Home Bound Status: it will flow over from the nursing assessment and must be modified there. This can be accomplished through staff training as well as quality assurance activities when processing the 485. -Goals can be copied and pasted from the therapy assessment. Go to the patient's chart, then the printer at the right of the assessment, then copy and paste onto your note. It will be on everynote there forward so long as you select the "copy previous note" from the upper right hand section of your note. -Communication comes through the communication tab in the patient's chart. You can select who you want to be included. This proves communication between disciplines. It goes out as secure emails to each person you select. I love this communication. - When you select the "view previous note" it will pull over the note you select so you can compare progress. - Yes, there is a discharge note per discipline, or you can use a regular therapy note. -Discharge instructions to the patient are on the discharge or transfer summary. You can build templates to drop down frequently used verbiage or use the templates already loaded. I don't like the templates - too wordy.

Great Technical Support & Resource/Educational updates/Bloggs
With Axxess, i know that my Agency will not be left behind with what is new/what to expect with a rapid changing rules Medicare.
PROSTechnical support is sensitive to our needs. Axxess continually innovates of ways to help us efficiently. They are not perfect, but definitely listens to us, their customers... Educational Resource Center & their bloggs are a great support for Homehealths to be updated with rapid changing rules in Medicare.
CONSPlan of Care: Pls find ways to be more accessible on goals of pts/tracking of which goals was taught by each discipline. We need more webminars for specific Disciplines: RN's documentation & /PT/OT/ST/MSW

Seamless
The product is the absolute best I have found. Customer service most generally answers in 30 to 60 seconds, and 99% of the time solves my issues then and there. We are very pleased and have been courted by the "K" people, but we will stay Axxess!
PROSEase of use, very user friendly. New clinicians require a short time in training as it is very logical. Axxess offers a complete and concise answer to Cost Reporting and Quarterly Reviews. Our clinicians use the tablet and mobile apps and are able to complete the visit note, orders or find information immediately. As Administrator, I am able to run reports frequently to assist with payments, visits, financial, billing and many others that are essential to my position.
CONSSome reports could be customized a bit but I can't think of anything serious. A little difficult for clinicians to use Electronic Visit Verification and was the only thing I have ever asked Customer Service to explain that the agent was not able to do so. But, we need real signatures according to our consultants, so that is very minor.

AXXESS is by far the most user friendly EMR for both nursing and office
Ease of use for nursing, billing and scheduling. The number of reports available to run is outstanding. Nurses love the app for their phones, everything is at that fingertips. AXXESS is ahead of the curve in technology with the announcement of AXXESSCARE - I do believe this will truly change health care and it's delivery providing excellent care to patients with a decrease in workload on office staff. I am proud to be a part of this exciting company!
CONSNeed to be able to customize - I am agency that deals with commercial insurance and workman's comp patients and our choices of OASIS is very limited.

Easy Functionality for even a non-tech computer person like me.
One of my basis in choosing Axxess for our organization depended heavily on the feedback of our visiting nurses that works with various Home Health Agencies using other electronic software. Their #1 choice is Axxess. After a year & 1/2 of using the software, we had our unannounced Public Health State Survey. I had mixed emotions & unknown fear because it was our first survey using electronic charting, then when the State Surveyor knew that we are using Axxess, she commented " I like Axxess!". Because of its easy functionality, our clinicians have more quality time in caring for their patients, easy access to their Plan of Care, Medication profile, with more effective & meaningful documentation submitted to the agency.

Our agency consists of a main office as well as a branch office. We serve all types of patients. We began searching for another software after realizing that adding the point of care aspect of Allscripts would be very tedious and costly. We looked at several different home care software solutions before choosing Axxess Agencycore. We spent time carefully looking at all aspects of the software. Our goal was to find software that was user-friendly, easy to start up, as well as web based point of care. We found all these things to be true with Axxess, and to our surprise, Axxess was the most cost-friendly as well! We implemented Axxess Agencycore as our patients were either admitted or reverted for care. Our users were able to quickly learn how to complete their notes, and scheduling became a breeze! My staff was happier because they could access the patient's charts at any time and they could either document with their tablet, notebooks, or netbooks while making visits or when they got home after seeing all the patients. Our order tracking also has become much easier with this system. We no longer have to use a notebook to record when orders were sent, and resent, and finally received. As with any software, there were some initial and ongoing questions that came up. However, when I called the support line, there was always a friendly person on the other end of the line who was eager to help answer my questions. I can continue to call the support center if I have a question and there is no additional charge. Because of the Axxess software system, I can now schedule in a fraction of the time, QA all my employees documentation in one place, track the status of the notes done, and look at all my patients charts with no trouble. The reports for tracking and payroll aspects are also a huge benefit for me. Overall, I would rate Axxess Agencycore as the best software I have used in my 19 year home health career.

dashboard is easy as well as layout of software is easy but other than that it is not worth the money.
CONScrooks - charge more every month and keep finding ways to increase the monthly rate.. STAY AWAY! it takes too long for clinicians to document, evv signatures cant be removed, etc...

Worst Customer Service center in the business
If you never need assistance, the software works as it should but once as there is an outstanding problem, good luck with anyone helping you with your issue... they don't care about their clients and just want to automatically debit accounts for monthly fees which is their main goal at all points in time.
PROSThe billing software was generally good and easy to use until the organization decided to raise the pricing to use the billing only software 250% after which we exited our relationship with the company entirely.
CONSCustomer service representatives NEVER call you back when detailing an issue with the system. I have had a problem after terminating our use with their billing system for 3+ weeks and they still have not contacted or attempted to resolve the issue. The customer service line are message takers and can never resolve any issue themselves, and always state they have contacted the department associated with the issue but you never receive a call from the department that can actually help you with an issue.

Started out strong but fizzled out
When we started with the company in 2013 we were somewhat pleased with the software. It had it perks.
CONSThis software had us so out of compliance with the COPs and state regulations that it has taken us 7 months to begin to get back in to compliance. We had to change software in order to do this. Then we had a nurse who was not doing her job and using the copying feature which we were advised was a great thing by Axxess but ended up getting us further out of compliance. The customer service was horrible and my staff and I not only called, emailed support but upper management without calls back or follow ups. After stopping payment they shut us off midday jeopardizing patient safety. We pulled our records but most were corrupted and blank.

It is Simple
In its simplicity, it is very step intensive, it does not think for itself. Everything it does has to be directed by the user, at the simplest level. A good system would let you set up preference at one time for each insurance and then the system would take that information and use it to simplify the steps. This system does not! For billing you have to manually create every claim, for every patient. It does not allow for mass billing, of billable visits, or multiple claims at one time. What I used to be able to accomplish in a day with my old system now takes me weeks. In this system, you cannot search by invoice number or track anything accurately. When you post a payment, you do so in each claim, and you physically have to go back in, find the claim and mark it paid. Everything is simple, not hard, but I might as well go back to paper. Everything has a work around, because nothing works the way it was intended! Very, very frustrating, especially on the accounting!

Generic Lower Priced EMR system
Overall affordable lower end of the EMR systems, very commonly used in the home care industry, get what you pay for kind of a program. Fulfills all of our basic needs.
PROSEasy to use, and easy to educate those on field visits along with those in the office. Recently underwent a transition of EMR software from one to another and was easier to input new information into axxess in comparison to our previous EMR vendor.
CONSHorrible customer service. They go through periods of not answering or answering but the tech on the line does not know what the question is and/or what our home care needs are to properly answer

Crooks basically
It takes too much effort to watch over these people who are not trust worthy at all. I plan on switching as soon as my contract is up. They renew contract for every little change you make to the agreement locking the client up for another whole year.
PROSSoftware is decent but service and people working for the company aren't. Other than that most of the other software can do same things as well.
CONSAccounting Department is a rip off - with really long wait times trying to get a hold of them. They overcharge every month! they also force you to buy products that are not needed, i do not need Evv or dde but i need to purchase it and pay it every month to use the basic product which is total rip off.

Not keeping up with the Home Health industry
This software has many unintuitive and serious flaws are present that Axxess has been slow to address, if at all.
PROS"Windowed" environment in browser allows for multiple windows to be viewed at once. Cloud based functionality means you can work anywhere, anytime.
CONSRestrictive, system-wide lack of intuitive ease of use, built in reporting features are severely lacking.

I think it's the world best home health software
Vancouver Home health Care Agency (vhhca.com) has been working with Axxess since 2014 and we are very happy to be in association with Axxess …At Axxess.com tried them on for size you want regret it....
PROSI know I can't keep this software to myself but as much as I love it I have to recommend it to anyone who mentions software for their business and home health.

Innovative software with user friendly features.
Customer hold times after new software releases are way too long. This past year was a good example and almost had to complete new soc when coordinator accidentally erased a chart.
PROSAble to chart existing visit and retain notes from previously charted visit or assessment. So easy to tweak my notes when I actually have something to compare it with.
CONSThe wound care details often don't carryover when charting. Sometimes this carries over and other times not. Not sure what the issue is.

Absolutely horrible customer service and major reliability issues.
Do not waste your money and your time on this company. I would not recommend this software to even my competitors. I have had much success using Kinnser.
PROSIt was easy getting in touch with a sales team and they were very eager to start services. What follows afterwards is a whole different story.
CONSExpect to wait over 45 min to 60 min for anyone to answer their phones. Worst customer service from an "established" company. Major glitches with the software. Hours of clinical charting disappeared and nonrecoverable due to changes with the new COP. The new Medicare COP was announced in 2017, yet in 2018 the software is yet to be reliable.

I I think Axxess is a good product that greatly facilitates my work as QA. Very easy to use. I have used Axxes for about 4 years and I think it is generally very good.

Customer services is extremely poor. They don't return your calls. It took about 10 phone calls and over a month to resolve a billing issue.
PROS
Axxess is easy to use. It is comprehensive. It is web based and very accessible. The oasis scrubber is also very helpful.
CONSThe reports are limited. Customer service is extremely poor. Too many billing issues. They like to charge for additional services not requested or needed.

Functionality of Axxess software
Price point is great. Ease of filing claims. Quality assurance system is very nice. Creating orders and OASIS is great.
CONSSoftware changes. For example we were unable to create claims today and had to call customer support to resolve the issue.
