FasterNotes provides electronic billing, eligibility, payroll, authorization management, scheduling, and HR tools tailored to home health practices. The system helps keep agencies on top of CMS, ACHC, CHAP and Joint Commission regulations and is even a good fit for those new to the home health industry.

FasterNotes takes a “boutique” approach to customer service. Customers are assigned a “Success Team” that works closely with them to make sure agencies meet their goals. This team approach to success goes beyond software integration and into areas like regulation research, best practices and vendor support.

Overall, FasterNotes is applicable to small-to-medium-sized home health and private duty agencies because of its user interface and team approach to an agency’s success. Agencies using FasterNotes will decrease overhead, save time, stay compliant and increase revenue.

    Super easy to use - customer service was excellent! It seemed to actually be "faster". Things you need for the business are one click away. Great option!

    Cons

    I don't have much negatives to say. I used this years ago at a company that I "subbed" at. It really appeared to be a great option for the home health care business.

    Learning what to avoid in our next sw system and how to choose a good system going forward.

    Pros

    I can not find a Pro for this sw.
    Our clinical staff scream constantly when using this sw. Seriously! Their comments are not fit for this post.

    Cons

    It freezes up all the time and the clinicians have to start over multiple times because they lose their notes and there is no way to retrieve them.
    It has features that makes no sense, for example, if a clinical creates a note and chooses the incorrect note type- SOC instead of SN visit, they have to delete the completed notes and start all over.
    There is no flow to the sw workflow, you have to click out of every page to get to another page in the sw.
    There is only one individual who does technical support and she is only available at certain times. When they have a meeting, there is no one there to help.
    The SW stopped working for a whole day while we were having our survey and the response was that there was nothing they can do about it.
    They are on PST, so if you are on the east coast it can be a nightmare when there are technical issue.
    You will call the only technical person available to report issues and your complaints are constantly dismissed, even when you have the clinical staff emailing them to tell them that the sw is a nightmare.
    In all honesty, I would never recommend this sw! Please avoid it if you can. It is not worth the complaints of your staff.

    All around, this is a great solution for our office. Some more tools for the field staff would be nice but the office side was thought through very well.

    Pros

    Fasternotes was very easy to learn and use for my office. We did the 2.5 hour training and were able to start utilizing the software shortly after.

    Cons

    My field staff would like push notifications for when they have something pending in their to do list that has been sitting in there for a certain amount of time so they don't forget. I think this would be a great feature to add.

    Like program very much. Work well for the staff and followed training very well. Program support is helpful for any question.

    Pros

    Was fast for me to learn this program. Is nice organization and many tracking features I like. Good for the QA and Nurse Director to use the To Do List for their responsibilities. Very easy.

    Cons

    Some sort for lists not available. Only filter is offered. Would like sort for all informations because filter only bring up specific informations.

    Very helpful support staff especially for users that don't have an easy time using computers.

    Pros

    I am a field nurse and the agency I work for uses Fasternotes. I am not familiar with newer computer programs and it takes me a lot of practice to understand how to use new technology. I had a hard time understanding how to document my notes and was finding myself getting frustrated. So I called the support line and they did a whole training with just me and logged into my computer and walked me through each step. They were very patient and helpful. I had to called back a few times, but now I understand how I am supposed to do it. Brittany spent a lot of time helping me and was very patient. Not a lot of customer service is like that anymore and I really appreciate her taking the time to help me understand at my own pace.

    Cons

    Took me time to understand the program and how it works. It was very slow to get going and I was behind in my documenting for some time. I am caught up now thanks to the support help from Fasternotes, but it was frustrating for me the first few weeks.

    The trackable pages are easily the best feature of Fasternotes. So easy for us to track our orders and documents by using the order tracking page or the to do list. We started using the authorizations page and Fasternotes automatically creates tracking records for us. All we have to do is mark when we've completed the authorization steps. Very easy and very user friendly for all of our office staff. Our field staff also like that the program will automatically attach the required documentation when they add their visits making it really easy for them to know which documents to complete.

    Cons

    No offline feature for the field staff when they're in the patient's home. Other than that, the program has been really great for the agency's organization.

    Track everything from ONE program. Made life 10 times easier for our office staff.

    Pros

    Fasternotes is very helpful to our agency because it keeps track of EVERYTHING. We would normally track authorizations in one spreadsheet, payroll visit/documentation completion in another, and credentials in a completely separate program because out previous software did not do this for us. With Fasternotes, we got rid of the spreadsheet and the credential tracking program and we are loving it! Very convenient for us to have everything in one place.

    Cons

    Our field staff would like a better option for completing documentation at the patient's home. Maybe an offline version because some patient's homes don't allow for high speed internet.

    Very easy for office staff and clinicians to use the software. The previous software we had was very difficult for the field staff to use. They like fasternotes much more because the program will automatically add the documents they need to complete when they enter their visit details. This makes it very easy for them because they can just go to their To Do List when they need to finish pending work.

    Cons

    Would like automatic notifications for the field staff to let them know when their credentials are expired or are about to expire.

    I QA all documents coming in so the To Do List is very easy for me to use. I can communicate with the field staff if there is something wrong or missing on a note through the document chat. I was a little tough for me to understand the visits and documents connecting as separate pieces. I do also want a chat system outside of documents so I can communicate more general things.

    After using Fasternotes for 6 months I really appreciate how everything flows together and things like patient status, claims, and authorization records automatically generate in the program. If I create a hold for a patient, I can automatically generate an order and the patient will change to the hold status as soon as I save. It helps because otherwise, I would have to make sure to do all of those steps myself and that can be easily missed or forgotten when dealing with a lot of patients. I did have some trouble getting used to how everything worked but the support staff was so helpful and patient with me.

    Pros

    Automated processes are extremely helpful and efficient.

    Cons

    Can be frustrating at the beginning.

    Great Features, A Little Tough To Use

    I like all of the features provided by this software. Organizes everything for us and the pages are all workable lists. I don't have to print off many reports to understand when documents haven't been submitted or when billing needs to be done. I can go to each page and check pretty easily. It did take some getting used to as it's nothing like the software we used to have in the office. I like how everything is laid out and it's very easy to see all of the information I need. also really like the dashboard feature because I can access when I want to and it doesn't clog up my screen when I need to use the program to work. Our other software would pop up all of the dashboard items and I would have to close out of them every time I logged in just to be able to see the navigation panels.

    Pros

    Very organized and simple layouts with all the information I need without printing reports.

    Cons

    Was had to use at first.

    The software feels very simple because of no clutter. I like that so I don't have to look at too many things at once. I see essentials and that is best for me to work faster. Pages are easy to sort like To Do List. I can sort for all pending item by field staff and know exactly what still need to be done. Very easy for me. Patient list also very easy to see if OASIS or Plan of Care is done. Very nice.

    Simple and easy to sort for my jobs. I get my jobs done faster because of this.

    Fasternotes has worked out really well for our small family business. The program keeps track of everything for us and we just have to keep up with it which is very easy. It did take me some time to understand how to use the program. I'm not very computer literate so it was hard to get used to a new program after using the same one for 10 years. All in all, I think we are all impressed with the level of organization the program provides.

    Was hard to me to use at first. Still have trouble here and there but I understand the basics.

    I am really impressed with the layout, functionality, and performance of Fasternotes. I really liked the software from the first demo because it was so different from all of the other software companies I demoed. First, think I noticed was a lack of clutter. The pages display everything you need to see for a quick look and don't overwhelm you. Very simple sorting in the patient list, claims page, orders, etc. makes it extremely easy to be efficient. You don't spend a lot of time searching for anything. Everything is right in front of you. The training was easy and helpful and I was able to easily get started afterward.

    Pros

    Easy processes and very simple and self-explanatory movement around the software. NOT cluttered!

    Cons

    I would have given a score of 10 out of 10 if Fasternotes had an internal messaging system. It doesn't cause that big of an issue, but it would be just that more convenient to be able to send out a message to field staff within the program.

    I was personally really impressed with the level of support/training we've received from the Fasternotes support staff. They were very attentive to our needs every step of the way. We had a few training sessions which got everyone comfortable with the program. We were also helped with migrating our data from our old software even though our old software wasn't able to generate an appropriate file with our data. Very, very helpful and extremely knowledgeable about home health care. Very happy with the software so far as well as the exceptional support team!

    Took us a good amount of time to get set up and get our data entered. Afterward, the tracking pages (to do list, orders, authorizations) really helped us stay organized and get into the swing of things. The QA process is very efficient and our field staff like that setup as well. Very easy to track/send/receive orders. All around, very organized pages throughout.

    Love the simplicity of the navigation in Fasternotes. Makes it very easy for us sort lists and get our work done. Clear processes for everything and the training was very thorough. Every detail can be managed in the settings making it super easy for our field staff to complete their visits and documentation. We complete our MD order management in minutes and this used to take half the day to manage.

    Simple Sorting for Pages

    I find it simple to use. Specifically sorting and filtering the pages to generate a list of items that need to be completed. I like being able to sort the patient list to see any OASIS or POC's that need to be completed. Keeps me very organized and on top of all my tasks.

    Sorting pages according to tasks.

    Cons

    Sorted pages do not save sorted when you leave the page so I have to re-sort the data every time I leave the page.

    I'm really impressed with the clean look of the software and the very organized lists. Not cluttered and I can easily sort lists to find the information I need to see. Very simple to use and very straightforward processes. It's not overwhelming to look at and the To Do List is a huge help for me. I can see everything pending without having to do a lot of research inside of charts which usually requires a lot of navigation. Navigation is kept to a minimum and I can get everything done efficiently.
