Free to try for 60 days, FreeDOM by Health Data Services is an extremely affordable solution that is a great fit for smaller practices and home health agencies. The functionality in FreeDOM supports every need of the agency, from point of care to billing, scheduling to accounting.

FreeDOM's web-based deployment means that there are no up-front costs or training fees; there are also no fees associated with licensing, maintenance and software updates. Healthcare providers just pay a basic fee based on a combination of services that include claims generation, statement creation and insurance eligibility verification and auto-posting. Unlike other solutions, pricing is not per seat, agencies can have as many users as necessary. 

FreeDOM is best suited for home health agencies with a census of fewer than 200 patients. In addition to general home health, it also supports private duty and hospice care. 

FreeDOM was designed to be easy to learn and easy to use, while still offering smaller healthcare providers the reliability and efficiency in one user-friendly, affordable package. In addition to point of care and scheduling, the billing features are especially robust, with insurance clearinghouse services, ePrescribing, EOB posting, eligibility and print and mail services.

Its very user friendly and pretty much self explanatory.

I think if you could have little videos to navigate around the site, it would be helpful for those individuals like myself that forget easily or get overwhelmed.

Recommendations

I recommend that you should give it a try for 90 days to see if it is a good fit for your needs. The customer service is outstanding, I can not say enough about the attention and patience that I have received while trying this software, I can't imagine trying anything else.

We began a specialized practice focused on men's health in late 2011. While I had many yeards of experience in the medical device industry, it was on the industry side. This was my first experience with starting a medicl practice.

After careful consideration I chose FreedomMD and am extrememly pleased. N system is perfect - and I didnt even know the questions to ask when we began - but it is robust with features like scheduling, claims and auto apply for claims. It has gone through a few updates and now offers more features like print screens in many places. Reporting is comprehensive as well.

What really seperates this is the support folks. Karolyn and Gin are there for me all the time, and are extrememly familiar with my practice needs. Sign up for the ongoing support and they are generous with the "call count" so to speak. I had a lot to learn about systems in general and they taught me a lot. I had some complex issues with getting claims recognized by a large payer, spent hours on the phone wiht the provider rep to no avail, and they persisited for days to solve the problem. It was with the payer - not the system.

Its the people behind the product that make this particularly special.

We used this software a while back. At the time, we were told it was free. After several years we decided to switch to a different EHR. Shortly thereafter we tried to go back into the software to get some of our data. We were told that we would have to pay for each month that we did not use the software before we could be granted access to any of our data.

Pros

Support is good.

Cons

Well, we were unable to access our data without continuing to pay monthly fees even though we were no longer using it in favor of another EHR.

Advice to Others

Be very careful in the verbiage of your contract.
