### Most mentioned pros

- TriNet has provided a comprehensive HR platform that makes it easier to manage payroll, benefits, compliance, and employee support in one place.
- Everything I need to conduct my HR duties is right there on the dashboard. If I ever need assistance with a task, a customer service representative is always there to resolve my issue quickly. If I need to provide more details, I like to create a case on the platform, and it is always resolved quickly as well.
- TriNet also has a wonderful virtual community named The Wing, and we all connect and learn from each other in that community while completing challenges and earning points for rewards which makes the experience even greater!

### Most mentioned cons

- Abrupt System Logouts & Technical Glitches: Some reviewers mention minor technical frustrations, such as frequent automatic logouts for security or temporary glitches during peak benefits enrollment periods.
- Sometimes we have an issue with getting complete answers to complex questions submitted by employees and administrators - this usually only applies to questions that require more nuance in thinking through the issue or question at hand and how it should be correctly and completely addressed.
- Our company is on a PEO model. If I did not have Admin/Manager-level access, I feel that I would not be as informed and would not know where to go to easily find certain information.

Overall, my experience with TriNet was positive. It is a solid HR and payroll solution that offers a comprehensive set of tools for managing employees, payroll, benefits, and compliance. While there are opportunities to improve customer support responsiveness and streamline the user interface, the platform performed reliably and met our business needs.

#### Ratings breakdown

Customer support response times could sometimes be slower than expected, especially for more complex issues. The platform can also be a bit difficult to navigate at times, and certain reports or features require more steps than necessary.

Overall, our experience with TriNet has been very positive. They have been a reliable HR partner, providing the tools, resources, and support needed to manage our workforce effectively. Their combination of technology and knowledgeable service has helped streamline HR operations and given us confidence in handling payroll, benefits, and compliance. I would recommend TriNet to organizations looking for an all-in-one HR solution.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

TriNet has provided a comprehensive HR platform that makes it easier to manage payroll, benefits, compliance, and employee support in one place. Their customer service team has been responsive and knowledgeable, and I appreciate having access to HR expertise when navigating complex employment questions. The platform has helped simplify many administrative tasks, allowing our team to focus more on our mission.

#### Cons

Like any robust platform, there is a learning curve when first getting started, and some features can take time to locate or fully understand. Occasionally, navigating between different areas of the platform isn’t as intuitive as it could be, but overall the functionality has met our needs.

#### Reasons for choosing TriNet

The sales lady at TriNet thoroughly answered all of our questions and make us feel really comfortable during the sales process, as well as onboarding and has checked in a few times after that.

My experience has been mostly positive but there have been some pain points around paid leave. The annual performance review module needs a lot of updating. It is very manual and has limitations.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5

#### Pros

Website is fairly easy to use, they are continually making improvements, work with real people and not automated agents.

#### Cons

Mistakes are sometimes difficult to correct in a timely manner. They are not set up to allow us to be on a private, lower cost paid leave plan.

### Good Resources for Smaller Businesses but Still Needs Upgrades in Technology

I think TriNet is probably best for companies with fewer than 100 employees. Once it gets beyond that, it becomes a little less practical. It's also not great to have to tell employees that you'll need to contact TriNet to fix these issues. It feels like they see it as an unwillingness to help them. They are improving some automations, but the technology still leaves much to be desired.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 3/5
- Value for money: 3/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 3/5

#### Pros

Support for employee issues, including an EAP and AI tools to help employees choose their benefits. The learning curve is steep, and the reports and analytics platform are a bit rudimentary.

#### Cons

The user interface. The platform is clunky and counterintuitive at times. Also, when using their chat or calling in for support getting conflicting ways to resolve issues. Also, it is helpful for tax management and the filing of unemployment taxes.

#### Reasons for switching to TriNet

We wanted a newer technology that helped us as we continued to grow exponentially.

### Partnering with TriNet

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 3/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

TriNet has a very user-friendly platform that helps small companies stay on top of HR related things. Whether it's offering your employees cost-effective benefits, providing payroll services, or staying up to date and compliant with federal, state, or local regulations. For our small company, partnering with TriNet has allowed us to focus on the things that matter most.

#### Cons

Considering the reasons most small companies look for PEO firms, the price per employee is a little on the high side and continues to go up year after year.

I highly appreciate the fantastic customer service that my assigned TriNet consultants have offered over the years as this gives me confidence that I can talk with "someone" and not just a machine/AI to review or assist on a matter; I am happy to say that this top-notch customer service aspect has remained after almost 7 years of working with TriNet team members. The platform also provides good security for personal information (multi-factor verification). Our company has been on a PEO model, and the TriNet-sponsored benefits have great options for all of our employees in addition to a super easy benefits election process during Open Enrollment period!

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

What I like most about TriNet is their continuous push for improvement across all their service, process, and products that benefit both existing clients and new SMBs. I have been using TriNet for over 6 years and have witnessed this positive change. I've observed that almost all of the changes over the years make a positive impact in my daily/weekly workflows, which is rare as I find that most tech changes are often design-related and not truly for a better user experience. TriNet also has a wonderful virtual community named The Wing, and we all connect and learn from each other in that community while completing challenges and earning points for rewards which makes the experience even greater!

#### Cons

I'd like to get more legal information on an employee-level. Our company is on a PEO model. If I did not have Admin/Manager-level access, I feel that I would not be as informed and would not know where to go to easily find certain information. I would also like TriNet to offer immediate access to virtual trainings such as Harassment/Discrimination and Workplace Violence Prevention upon a new hire. I was previously informed that access to these trainings is not immediately available on the new employee's first work day.

We have been with TriNet for about 20 years. It has not always been smooth but over the last 3-4 years it has improved tremendously. Currently, LOAs and Workers Compensation are my only pain point. I will also add that the benefits offerings are far too many and it is confusing and overwhelming to staff. I have expressed a desire to reduce our company's offerings numerous times but we have not been able to do so.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 3/5

#### Pros

TriNet's payroll team is very helpful and efficient. We rarely have payroll related concerns and can rely on their support.

#### Cons

TriNet's LOA process is tedious and flawed. Information is not properly communicated to all parties involved.

### User friendly software for smaller businesses with one location.

- Overall rating: 4/5
- Reviewer: Amanda K.
- Verified reviewer: Yes
- Industry: Human Resources
- Company size: 51-200 employees
- Product usage: Used daily for less than 2 years
- Reviewed: October 2025
- Review source details: This review was submitted organically. No incentive was offered

TriNet is very user friendly, easy to navigate and great for a small business. It is intuitive and somewhat customizable. I can't say it was a great value for money. For less costs, we could have switched to UKG. We ended up leaving them for ADP due to having multiple companies that we needed to manage that TriNet was just not capable of doing under one dashboard.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 2/5
- Customer support: 1/5
- Functionality: 3/5

#### Pros

I used TriNet when it was still Zenefits. Overall, I think the software was very easy to use for payroll and employee pay, benefits administration, performance reporting and tracking, onboarding, and employee management. I will say, the program was easy to navigate, which allowed for a very minimal learning curve, which I appreciated.

#### Cons

I would not recommend TriNet if you have multiple companies that you need to manage within one system. This made payroll management and running reports quite the ordeal. I had to run the same report, in each company profile, and then combine the data. When you're doing this for 8 companies, it can be annoying. The other thing about TriNet was the payroll compliance issues. It would take a representative FOREVER to acknowledge receipt and then even longer for an answer. I had to stay on top of them constantly.

### Good for small US subsidiaries but expensive, watch the minimums

- Overall rating: 3/5

TriNet served its purpose as our first US payroll solution and handled the basics competently. The low employee minimum made them accessible when we were just starting out. However, the cost became hard to justify as we grew, and their inflexibility when we temporarily dropped below minimums forced us to switch. Good starter solution for EU companies entering the US market, but be aware of the price premium and contractual requirements.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 1/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Allowed us to run payroll for our US subsidiary starting at a low number of employees, which was critical as a German company expanding to the US. Benefits integration worked well and saved us from managing multiple vendors.

#### Cons

Extremely expensive per employee. Software felt clunky and dated. Most critically, don't dip below their employee minimum.

#### Vendor response

We are glad to hear that we helped you navigate the complex HR needs of a global company like yours! We appreciate the feedback.

#### Pros

TriNet is incredibly helpful for viewing and downloading my bi-weekly paychecks, accessing my retirement plan portal, submitting expense reports, viewing my health benefits, and tracking time off all in one place. I especially appreciate the "Estimate Balance" feature on the Time Off page, which allows you to view the exact date at which you will hit your earned PTO cap. This has enabled me to always make sure I take off time before I hit my cap, and avoid losing out on well-earned PTO. The TriNet mobile app also gives you access to most, if not all, of the same features that the web browser version offers, so you can check any work-related details you might need to on the go.

#### Cons

There is honestly nothing I dislike about TriNet. Our company had no cohesive, one stop shop for all of the services TriNet provides until we switched to TriNet, so it solved all of our problems with one software.
