ADP TotalSource provides cloud-based human resources (HR) support for small and midsize businesses across employee benefits, payroll, compliance, risk management, safety, recruitment and more.

The solution offers professional employer organization (PEO) services that utilize a co-employment model to manage HR functions ranging from payroll processing and risk management to compensation and benefits. Users have access to recruitment experts, job posting, interviewing, onboarding and training support.

ADP TotalSource's My TotalSource module enables users to track employee skills, certifications and licenses. In addition, the system processes payroll and provides a self-service platform for data management and generating reports.

ADP TotalSource’s Risk Management module manages risk and safety objectives along with local and federal employment regulations and safety standards. Its Separation module handles the termination process and assists in completing Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) related paperwork.

ADP TotalSource is available 24/7 and can be accessed from any mobile device to generate mobile pay statements and benefits summaries.

ADP TotalSource is a solid, no-frills PEO that works effectively for our joint ventures.

Overall, ADP TotalSource checks most of the boxes needed to satisfy all of requirements of being a software system designed to act as a PEO. While there could certainly be some improvements, none of the products on the market seemed perfect, and this was one of the best 2-3 that I found.

Pros

It integrated well with our other systems and software. The customer service and support has been good and the implementation and set-up went smoothly. It does everything it was expected to and does have some nice reporting functionality included as well. It's user interface isn't particularly exciting, but is fairly intuitive and easy to pick up.

Cons

While it does what is needed, I feel like they could display more info per page and find ways to minimize "unnecessary clicks" to accomplish basic tasks related to sourcing, candidate, pipeline, dispositions, and requisition management. Also, resumes don't seem to always open properly using the Chrome browser. Sometimes, they must be downloaded in order to be viewed.

Great support. The ESC is prompt and helpful.
Very easy to use. I like the option to run reports. Easy to navigate.

Cons

Times out quickly. Sometimes I wish it was easier to look up everything in the employee's profile without having to change tabs, but I understand that this is for compliance reasons.

Very user friendly software, great for small businesses. Payroll and HR support are included so you always have someone to call.

Cons

Sometimes the reps who are assigned to you are not responsive. They do not have a great sense of urgency.

The administrative portal is very thorough. The user portal is not as intuitive, unfortunately.

Pros

There are a lot of features and fantastic in-depth reporting, both standard and customizable. You can use csv files to upload large batches of data, instead of having to do the data entry one by one.

Cons

It can be difficult to find what you're looking for. The redesigned site is definitely an improvement, and there's a bookmark feature to assist with this issue.

Cons

Some segments are not available without paying extra, and the extra is cost prohibitive. The reports and queries are complex to create (custom).

Overall an easy to use product.

Pros

ADP is very easy software to use as a payroll administrator and as an employee. Entering and keeping track of hours worked is a very simple process. The ease of the mobile is a great plus as well. Integrated well with internal system.
One employee can use for multiple jobs.

Cons

There are many help options available but cant seem to get a "live/dedicated" agent to assist.

This software provides real time logging for accurate clock in and clock out. Software is quick, lacking any considerable lagging.

Cons

Time allocation is not as user friendly as storage of allocation codes is relatively limited. A more extensive list would be helpful.

Fairly easy to use and makes day to day repetitive tasks much easier and simple especially for the operations team. Overall it seemed more user friendly then competing vendors products even though they had new look and feel on their products

Cons

Custom reporting is a challenge. Many fields are not directly available and need to be customized by the ADP team. Plus my implementation work took longer than expected for a not-so-very-big-customer

I am able to not only clock in and out, but can access pay stubs, estimate pay, complete reviews, update insurance and personal information and even have access to coupons and discounts.

Pros

I like all of the feature that are available for employees in the ADP platform. We are able to complete so many necessary tasks with this platform.

Cons

The software is hard to access from mobile devices. It does not format for mobile viewing and must be used on a desktop/laptop for best viewing.

Payroll was easy to submit and always easy to review. Also accessible anywhere now by app. You are able to clock your time anywhere you are, not having to be burdened by old fashioned clock in.

Cons

Just that, you can clock your time anywhere so sometimes I would fine that employees would clock their time when they weren't quite at work yet. Also, sometimes the payroll is late which is never a good thing.

Save time and money by eliminating the hard copy portion of paystubs etc. No longer have to resend T4s due to staff not updating address, as the staff has the capability and responsibility to log on to their own account and download their own information.

Pros

Can create custom reports to meet our company's needs. Saves time and money by eliminating hard copy paystubs - staff has access to view their own information such as paystubs and T4s on line. Help desk is quick to respond. Offers more than just payroll by linking customers to the "Bridge" their HR information site which allows customers to network with other professionals as well as offering a wide range of pertinent HR information.

Cons

Have difficulty issuing ROEs, have had to phone for assistance every time and the ADP support team does not seem to be able to explain how to issue an ROE so that the employee's pay is zeroed out - consistently shows negative pay and requires on of the ADP support persons to make the adjustment.

I can get my personal info without going to a manager, I can clock in and out fairly easily. I can check it at home or at work. I have my own log-in. My various job titles are separated by different codes making it easy to differentiate my pay rates.

Cons

Wish it was quicker to sign in especially when others are waiting, and when password is entered wrong, you have to re-enter username too.

Most categories are well defined, and easily accessible. It's good to be able to be able to get contact information that correspond to each category.

Cons

No longer works on Safari (we're an "Apple house"). 3rd party EZLabor does not work well with software. Time-out is way too short.

Cons

It's not even the software, the only issue is for initial log on, ADP has many user sites. It would be easier if ADP didn't have so many log ins.

Ability to change and update wages, dates, hours, status and benefits enrollment on my own and that it's essentially a one stop record of all of my employment, benefit and wage data.

Cons

Not enough flexibility to combine different types of data into a custom report. Sometimes I want to pull data about hours worked, wages, attendance, discipline, reviews, benefits, etc. and all of the fields aren't available or aren't labeled intuitively.

I mostly like how easy and simple the software is to use. It also gives your employees a lot of control where it would just be time consuming for you, such as their personal information. Employees can update their tax info, direct deposit, request time off, and do all their time clocking. It makes it for a more hands off experience for HR so they can focus on bigger and more important things.

Cons

Sometimes there are items you can not change without ADP's assistance, that puts a delay on certain items. Also, some items work off of pay periods, so to remove an employee I have needed to wait one-two pay periods.

Easy access to all my HR, Payroll and benefits information at a click of a button. I would highly recommend this software for busy office administrators to simplify day to day tasks. I like knowing that I can access the software remotely when I am traveling and I get the same information as I would if I used it in the office. The accessibility is one of the best things this software has to offer.

Cons

New Hire Enrollment in new states. Can not set up in advance and it takes a long time ( 3 - 5 days) to get the codes needed to complete new hire process. Very slow and lots of follow up

Pros

Very easy to use. Do not need lessons to use and never need to contact support for assistance for every day things. I could probably state that in the time we have been using ADP Totalsource - approximately 6-8 years, I have had to contact support for their program/site less than 10 times.
