ADP TotalSource provides cloud-based human resources (HR) support for small and midsize businesses across employee benefits, payroll, compliance, risk management, safety, recruitment and more.

The solution offers professional employer organization (PEO) services that utilize a co-employment model to manage HR functions ranging from payroll processing and risk management to compensation and benefits. Users have access to recruitment experts, job posting, interviewing, onboarding and training support.

ADP TotalSource's My TotalSource module enables users to track employee skills, certifications and licenses. In addition, the system processes payroll and provides a self-service platform for data management and generating reports.

ADP TotalSource’s Risk Management module manages risk and safety objectives along with local and federal employment regulations and safety standards. Its Separation module handles the termination process and assists in completing Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) related paperwork.

ADP TotalSource is available 24/7 and can be accessed from any mobile device to generate mobile pay statements and benefits summaries.

    Run Away, Don't Walk

    Terrible. Full of promises that were never acted on. A "dedicated" team that never responds. Look elsewhere, immediately. We tried giving them numerous chances, numerous, for very simple things that were promised. None are fixed. Even their 24/7 support line takes 6 days to respond.

    Pros

    PTO tracking was pretty good. And good healthcare rates. They consulted when we had an issue with a bad employee. That's about it.

    Cons

    Everything. The system is full of bugs and errors. Running payroll takes about 30 steps. The support team, when actually available which wasn't often, never had answers. We have gone over a year and still have not had a simple employee manual, which was promised the first month. They knew we had employees in California since the beginning, and our dedicated Payroll support person said 1 year later, I didn't know you had employees in CA when we asked why it wasn't available in a dropdown. Our HR support person rarely responds to emails. We keep getting late notices for non-payment from the unemployment services office (which ADP is supposed to pay on time). Employees pay was randomly changed without our notice. The benefits selection process for our employees was a joke—numerous broken links in the system. They weren't even provided a simple explanation of benefits for the plan options. I could go on for days and days about the ridiculous number of errors broken promises. Sorry is all we get, with no resolution. Its a lot of money to pay with NO value. Or a "that's an upgraded feature" despite it being promised by our sales team. The only services that work are the 3rd party solutions they use (which are a lot).

    I have adp do my payroll. Employees also use the app.

    Pros

    How easy it was to use. I especially like the app. You can view your pay stubs right on the app. Setting payroll every week is a breeze and customer service is amazing.

    Cons

    Make sure the employer has everything set up for your account or else you can not access anything.

    Very straight to the point but without much description on paychecks, benefits, etc items.

    Pros

    Once you log in, it is a great place to quickly and easily see your paychecks, W2s and benefits, along with other ADP perks.

    Cons

    I just recently found out about my ADP total source discounts for car insurance, flights, pet insurance, etc. I only found out about this through word of mouth from my HR Director. After learning about it, it wasn't extremely difficult to find but it wasn't prominent on the website to get to.

    Can see all my persona information, pay stub, etc. Can clock in and clock out. It is piratical.

    Pros

    Details on the Information provided. Would be good more explanations boxes saying what is it Item about and the purpose.

    Cons

    You can not use the application in two devices if you dont log off from one of them. THe application at the cell phone is a bit slow.

    The ease of navigation was the thing I enjoyed the most. Everything was self explanatory. I didn't need any coaching or training class on how to use the program, even after I was given admin access to approve time cards, approve PTO, and deny certain requests.

    Cons

    The price. To my understanding, my company stopped using it because it was costing it too much money. We decided to go with another software called BambooHR.

    Its incredibly easy for employees to use. Tracking time, seeing paystubs, and fulfilling HR needs is now easier than ever.

    The costs. I know there are a few other options out there that are slightly cheaper, but for the quality I dont think you should pass it up.

    I like how ADP puts tax documents, new employee documents, benefits, payroll/check stubs, vacation policy and employee documents in one place. It's very easy to use, and it's great to be able to fill out documents electronically rather than requesting and copying and mail/dropping off documents over and over again.

    Cons

    There really aren't any "cons" that I've found. For an older and established product with a lot going on in it at once, it's not too difficult to use or to navigate. Quite satisfied.

    I would like a quicker way to clock in. The site does seem dated, but it works. The see my paycheck function is slow and does not open in the same browser.

    Convenience more than anything.

    Pros

    I can use ADP from my phone. I am able to clock in, view my hours and see my pay without anywhere and anytime. It's very convenient.

    Cons

    The software doesn't always pick up my punches so my manager has to manually enter them. if i can't remember the exact time of my punch, I have to guess and I lose time.

    The ADP app for my phone was great. I could obtain a copy of my paycheck prior to auto deposit. I was also able to access my W2s.

    Cons

    Had to consistently change my password. It seemed in excess and a nuisance. This was a very minor issue.

    As far as payroll goes ADP offers complete access to both employees and employers. From managing time cards to checking pay stubs.

    Cons

    If a person has had ADP prior to sign up it pulls forward old pay statements which can be confusing while making you make a new username.

    I can see and do everything I need to do. When using a competetor's software I always had to call or email somebody for basic functions

    There were more upfront costs with switching platforms but overall the costs will be lower; so far using the software is really easy

    Complete lack of transparency in pricing. They outright refuse to provide information on pricing, so it is very difficult to compare to other similar products or keeping in house. Other PEOs are up front about what you are paying for. In addition, you give up a lot of control. For example, you cannot apply your own Paid time off policy because their system won’t accomdate it. Also they tell you if you don’t use their employee handbook (limiting your particular needs) that their Errors and omissions insurance won’t apply.

    We use ADP throughout the day every day and I have had nothing but great experiences with it; very easy to use and navigate.

    Cons

    Just today, actually, I was signed in and then had to restart my computer. When I opened up a new web browser to restart ADP, it kept telling me that I had it open in another screen. ...which I didn't so that was weird.

    We were able to move from paper to electronic records.

    Pros

    Helped us transition from paper to the electronic age. We now had a system within which we could maintain several employee functions, so in the end it did save us time and allowed us to do more (run reports, retrieve employee data quickly, etc.)

    Cons

    It was so buggy! The two sides (HR and Payroll modules) would not "talk" to each other which meant errors or glitches. Trying to keep data accurate was nightmarish. We had to develop our own internal process of not making any changes on the HR side when Payroll was running. We actually gave it two days before we would make any changes, even if an employee had terminated on the day payroll was running. Reports were rarely accurate.
