The Butterfly Effect

Butterfly is incredibly impressive software, but in my experience, the people behind it are even more impressive. The professionalism and diligence of the Butterfly team is always apparent in all of our interactions, especially with how concerned they are about evolving to enhance both the user experience and the tool's effectiveness for our needs specifically. Their proposals & suggestions are always much appreciated, in addition to inevitably being thoughtful and thought-provoking every single time.

PROS

Butterfly is an innovative and intuitive tool that the team has come to rely on to regularly communicate their input & feedback, just as much as leadership relies on it to gather information and resolve issues in real time. Whether collecting cumulative or instant feedback, the insights gleaned are always valuable, leading to more focused, productive and proactive approaches & solutions.

Critical Utensil of the Modern Manager Toolkit

We have been using Butterfly for 4 years now at Ogilvy. It has become a central tool in our approach to talent management. Being able to collect feedback at such a high frequency with that level of transparency has allowed us to develop unique insights into how our team is feeling . This has been especially true in the era of BLM and heightened awareness around DEI, as well as during the whole of the COVID pandemic. The employee experience we are delivering to our team has significantly improved since we implemented Butterfly, with direct impact on team retention and satisfaction.

PROS

We love that Butterfly is extremly acctionable as a tool. Equippe with the information and the feeback. We are able to take actions an have a true impact on a weekly basis.

CONS

Have something to say, we hear you.

Haven't come across any issues that needed solving, but I can imagine that it will help in the future.

PROS

Very easy to use and understand. The fact that associates can say what and they are feeling and voice their concerns about the way things are going at work allows people to keep stress off their shoulders and work more intuitively, efficiently, and be more productive.

CONS

Not a difficult product to use. However, there needs to be more than the same 6 questions used for the survey. There needs to be a variety of questions that pertain to the facility and the work we do.

Effectiveness of Butterfly

Management style and benefits provided, same with the safety and comfort of the workplace are captured along with the career opportunities present. Yet, there is a need to improved the questions that captures the real feelings and condition of individual staff and member of the organization.

PROS

It captured the management and leading style exercised in the organization. It seek feedback on the safety and comfort of the work place and the benefits the employees received. It is a tool usable for way forward improvement in leading a team and in the provision of benefits, safety & comfort of individual employees. It is user friendly and easy to access and a straight forward queries capturing the essentials in feedbacking management.

CONS

The feedback summarized did not accurately reflected on the actual staff handled. It sets confusion on whether the feedback is for me or for my boss. Confidentiality should be maintained yet feedback captured and given should be from the actual & current staff handled.

Being able to get feedback from employees on what they feel is good or bad, any ideas they may for certain items.

Getting team members to participate. Sometime comments are inaccurate when and employee is upset the certain situations.

Butterfly Review

People are wanting more hours so we have come up with a plan to allow employees to have between 35 to 40 hours a week.

PROS

I like the 1 to 10 scale and how it changes colors. The color differential between questions are nice as well and it makes it easier to interpret.

CONS

I did not like that I was not able to see comments the first 5 months.

Great Tool for Employee Feedback

PROS

Very clean interface, is easy to use, and gives a great high-level overview from a managerial perspective.

CONS

I wish there was more visibility into the time frame when feedback was left and I wish I was able to categorize historical feedback into one single view.

A Key Performance Indicator

By using Butterfly, I have improved understanding and build a trustworthy relation with my team.

PROS

There are so many good things about this software but mainly, being a team lead, one can make assessment about overall team's mood score and the issues they cannot express openly and hence can bring improvement while having one-on-one dialogues. Also, it a very right platform where one can give his/her input or ideas for improvement required in any area.

CONS

The survey forms should not be kept anonymous and if the one who is happy or not happy at work must be visible at least to Head of Department if not to an immediate line.

Gamechanging feedback tool with excellent support

PROS

Butterfly is easy to use with a fantastic support team and has made a huge difference at our company. We have a much better idea of engagement and satisfaction and are able to use the tool to create real change within our organization.

CONS

Butterfly is still growing - occasionally we encounter bugs or tools that are still improving but the team is always engaged in helping us and updating us on upcoming development.

PROS

The ratings, the scores, the possibility of anonymous feedback among large teams helped understand mood sets among team members . Also feedback in any way always helps the HR and the leaders understand the true moods of the employees giving them a sense of pride for being heard.

CONS

Felt that the organization and Butterfly could have explained the benefits of the surveys to all employees much better to ensure better feedback and response rates. Perhaps linking it as an award or appreciation for most consistent respondent would have helped in better responses and more feedbacks.

Feedback tool

PROS

We recently started using this service as a internal feedback tool. It allows you to submit feedback on a weekly basis anonymously see how the team is feeling and discover what issues need addressing. All the employees love it!

CONS

Even though the anonymity is guaranteed, I feel that the managers can read who send the feedback.

A great tool, to help me understand my team and act from wherever I am

I believe I was one of the first user to be on the platform, it was recommend from a fellow manager at my company. I have to say that it is a nifty little tool, that helps me gather insight in a timely manner. Although HR run their internal engagement surveys, I never have the insight in a relevant time frame. Butterfly is great to help me focus on what matters to my team.

PROS

The design and ease to use. I don't need a Phd in HR to understand the data, and my team really appreciate the user experience. I've been using it with slack, which makes it super easy to spread out the messages to my team.

CONS

I'd expect more from their slack integration, but apparently it is coming very soon

It's good to get the top-level pulse/feedback. Addressing the concerns is another though. How can we address or getting back to the team(s) without loosing anonymity is something I feel we need to figure out. I would hate to get the feedback (or general concern) yet getting hard (or harder) to further soliciting the inputs to figure out "so what can we do about it." These tools are only helpful if we can get to that next steps. Otherwise, it's either "pretend all is going well" or "I complain but nothing happens".

PROS

that it's easy to administer via Slack. The response rate is high and I think it's because it is easy to respond.

CONS

There was some problem initially to use multiple-choice follow-up. Now, I think it's fixed though. I think I need to give more time to try different ways to reach out and getting better inputs on how to address any challenges/concerns via Butterfly.
