CakeHR is a cloud-based human resource management solution that integrates core features like 360 feedback, workforce management, performance appraisal and attendance tracking with scheduling that supports time-off policies and black-out days.

Users get a bird’s eye view of key data points like their upcoming tasks, goals, leaves and expenses. The solution allows employees to access all options in 3 clicks or less.  

CakeHR provides tools that can automate repetitive tasks. Furthermore, sick leaves can be requested directly from the dashboard without initiating email chains.

Each employee has a separate login and access permission level to safeguard sensitive information. Tabs like benefits, documents and emergency can be hidden. A directory of company and team roles with organizational charts is included to define who does what.

Android and iOS apps are also available for download.

Very good HR Management

A very good online Human Resources software for most of the companies. User friendly with a lot of features for employees HR management.

Pros

Very good User Experience and interfaces.
Easy to use and Feature are very handy
Ton of functionalities.

Cons

Historical logs are manual to access.
Nothing else that I can thought right now.

Easy to use

Pros

I like that it is relatively easy to use, employees can easily request time off. We were able to put in our accrued PTO and floating holidays and it allows for carry over.

Cons

Sometimes it is not straightforward on where to find different features. It is a little confusing when it shows employees their pto. Still not always sure how much they have to use. I would prefer if you could show hours instead of days some times.

Rep support off-hours

Excellent. Looking forward to using it for our company for a long, long time!

Pros

Customer rep sent me responses right away, regardless that it was past their support hours. She sent a quick video to show me how to set up and apply time off policies. Great help!

Great for small businesses!

CakeHR is a wonderful and handy tool for a small business to keep employee information stored. It integrates with Google Calendar, Slack, and a few others so it is great for us.

Pros

It's a great and handy system to keep tracking of employee demographic information, emergency contacts, time off accruals, etc.

Cons

We couldn't upload employee files without multiple people having access to them. Some files were pretty sensitive so we had to remove them.

CakeHR - good product, even better service

Pros

As an SME we needed a platform for our HR. We reviewed most of the systems intended for a business for our size and CakeHR was the best price / value combination. Since taking it, we've found it to be useful, it's done the job we wanted. Best of all has been their customer service. When we've had a development request they've taken it seriously and, in most cases, added it. The product needs some further development, esp around appraisals. But we are happy with our choice and hope to stay with Cake for some time, especially if they remain as responsive as they've been to date.

Cons

It could be a bit easier to navigate. I sometimes have to get reminders on how to find certain parts of the platform.

CakeHR's review

For the price soft is very good. The most important part is what do you want from the soft? If employees time off tracking is on of the main reasons, then CakeHR is a perfect fit.

Pros

I like the most customer support (it's fast, helpful, plus, some things which I have mentioned, later I see in the soft which is great and let's the customer feel special :)

Cons

Access levels - the weakest part in this soft. Still waiting for new levels which I could share with HRs in our other offices. Also a bit disappointing is reporting part. Would like to make reports more specified, with more options than now.

You can be better

I count see all the information in the google calendar, this was great, we can centralized all the information in the simple way and public for everyone.

Pros

It's useful and easy to understand.
The implementation was very fast.

Cons

In some section you don't have space for details information, for example, only have Notes, but you can't change the name, and sometimes is important to categorised some information.

We needed a software that work with the difficult legal system in Hungary. This one was capable of connecting our Time-sheet´s to the Leave Requests perfectly

Cons

Some functions are missing. The Company structure is not flexible enough for multinational companies and the folder structure has only one level. No sub folders are possible

Cake HR Review

Helped us a lot, but I think there are some parts that need to be improved.

Pros

Customer service, because they are very quick, kind and helpful. Always looking for a solution.
The dashboard is very good, collects all the useful data.

Cons

Settings, for me it is confusing where and how to add e.g. vacation related stuff. Not userfriendly enough, but maybe it's just me.
Also the documents part, I'd be happy if we could create more folders, better folder structure.
And the timesheet report, I would be happy of some changes.

Pros

We are simplifying the monitoring of our staff movements

Cons

Cost is prohibitive for that simple usage. And excel sheet can do the same, but not possible to integrate in calendar... so we have to pay for that comfort, that is not really well priced

WELL-ORGANIZED; EVERYTHING YOU NEED IN ONE, ORGANIZED PLACE

Pros

I am astonished on how well-organized this software is. The feedback feature allowed our team to determine employees’ rates. Scheduling and Time Tracking features are punctual. It is easy to use. As a Human Resource Specialist, this software has removed almost half of the paperwork and stored it in one place.

Cons

Undertime and overtime tracking is not a feature of CakeHR, we use a different software for that. It would be a great update in the future since it is one of the most needed time tracking option for most companies.

Pros

Cake-hr for time-off management

It's nice tool to solve a problem of availability visibility in the distributed team, easy to use.

Pros

- easy UX and UI
- convenient dashboard
- ability to create different policies for various locations (if you have a distributed team it's fantastic)
- integration with a google calendar & slack bot
- custom actions to be done after a time-off request is provided
- mobile app available

Cons

- documents storage is not convenient for users and search
- had few cases with support team when did not receive a reply in time
- would be great to have a follow-up for managers if they do not approve/decline the request of their direct reports
- request for few hours per day does not allow to give precise hours, simply [number] hours in the first/second part of the day. I would prefer specifying exact hours
