Sometimes I'm away from my desk in a client specific meeting and it's nice to be able to come back and enter the time spent on the project or with the client without having to turn on a timer and remember when to turn it off. I also really like the ability to add project and company names in detail rather than being limited to 25 or 50 characters. #### Cons I feel that the sorting of projects/clients could be improved. No incentive was offered Over the past several months I have used Clockify for day-to-day work with Clockify. I am writing this from current use, not from a setup we abandoned. On the positive side, We get fewer next-morning 'did my payment go through?' messages than we did with bank-transfer confirmations. The constructive side is equally specific: card-funded payments and instant deposits make the fee line harder to predict than a simple flat rate, which complicates how we quote clients. That is why Clockify stuck after the first month of requesting payment on an invoice the same afternoon we finish the work. Contractor payouts that we used to batch on Mondays now go out the same afternoon we approve the hours. I also like that the confirmation and the ledger line stay attached to each other, so we are not reconstructing a Saturday job from memory on Monday. #### Cons The product does the core job, then loses time here. Card-funded payments and instant deposits make the fee line harder to predict than a simple flat rate, which complicates how we quote clients. Search in the history is usable, but a dense Friday list still means scrolling past friends-and-family looking noise if someone paid from a personal profile. Previous attempts with other tools failed because the friction of logging time was higher than the benefit felt. Clockify flipped that. It stays out of the way and just captures what you need. Starting a timer, logging hours manually, switching between projects, none of it requires figuring anything out. The free tier is genuinely usable which is rare, most tools gut the free version to the point where it is just a trial. Reports are clean and give you a clear picture of where time is going across projects and team members without needing to dig around. #### Cons The deeper you go the more you notice the rough edges. Editing time entries in bulk is clunkier than it should be and the project structure can get hard to manage once you have a lot of clients and tasks stacked up. The integrations work but feel bolted on rather than native. Some of the more useful reporting features are behind the paid plan which is fair but the jump in functionality between tiers is not always proportional to the price jump. #### Reasons for switching to Clockify We had been on Toggl for a while and it worked until it didn’t. The tipping point wasn’t really the pricing, it was that the reporting started feeling too shallow for how we were trying to track billable hours across multiple projects and clients. Clockify gave us more visibility into where time was actually going without having to upgrade to a tier that wasn’t worth it for what we needed. Timesheet can easily be submitted to supervisor for approval, making payroll processing easier. Integrates well with Asana and Quickbooks for billing our project specific clients. Before Clockify, many times revenue would fall between cracks in reporting time, so it really reduces revenue loss. Also, Clockify was a big help in tracking workloads, employee productivity, and expenses. #### Cons Not good for mobile employees as it doesn't have GPS tracking. Manual entry of time led to a couple of time where employee reporting was inaccurate. Strict monitoring is required. #### Reasons for choosing Clockify Cost and easy of use, mostly. Prior to implementing the time clock I had my employees simply submit an invoice to me when they were ready and probably worked shorter hours than they should have. But the time clock has allowed me to monitor how many hours they're actually worked and that's been really refreshing. The checklist on the food truck is great, as my employees are now doing the work I ask of them. This is good as the scheduling system is working out well and none of my employees are complaining about it too much. They also offer a rewards voucher program that we may utilize during the new year, provided that we are still operating at that point. The chat feature is functional for reducing the number of times that my personal cell phone is blowing up with texts. #### Cons I think the learning curve is going to be monumental and I am not sure how much of their webinars or meetings I’m going to be able to tolerate. The vendor sends us the recordings afterwards but I struggle to find this as it’s buried deep in some menu and there are hundreds of different settings. The product is slick, works well for reporting, simple to run reports with all the detail needed, tag support. If you need to record and allocate time, then Clockify does the job perfectly. #### Cons I don’t like that I can find a way to edit seconds on manually entered time entries. This is such. As a virtual assistant for many different companies, my experience using clockify has been great! For being a free program, I love using it! You can switch from "stop watch" mode to manual entry really easy and you can also label the different projects for each time recorded too which makes it easier to keep track if you are someone who clocks into multiple different projects like me. #### Cons I have yet to find something I don't like about this software. I can track hours designers and copywriters spend on client work and create clean reports for billing.
