A Great Scheduling App to Keep Your Team On Board

It does what it is supposed to do but it doesn't have much value in terms of in-app longevity.

Pros

Simple and does what the app is supposed to do. It's easy to find my restaurant shifts and switch with coworkers.

Cons

It's pretty much remained the same since it's release. There's a lot more that can be done with this type of app and it's not happening.

Hotschedules

Pros

I was very excited to get on board with hot schedules. After locking in for a year, I quickly realized that the paper and pencil way was much better. If they can figure out a new user-friendly format, I may change my mind.

Cons

A lot tougher to properly to a schedule with hot schedules than with paper and pencil.

Hot Schedules

Scheduling becomes easy and swift for the whole operation. You can see when and where someone is needed and change requests for time off or shift changes easily.

Pros

It is great for the employees. It helps management schedule and see where and when the busy times are.

Cons

Some down times but nothing that stops scheduling from being changed at a moments notice.

Love HotSchedules

I've been using HotSchedules for several years and I couldn't imagine running a restaurant without it.

Pros

Scheduling, messaging, and forecasting have never been easier! If you own a restaurant, you need this.

Cons

Customer service used to be excellent, but lately, it hasn't been good at all. I went from a 2 minute wait to talk to 6+ hours to get a callback—usually by the time I'm home. I'm confident they're just going through some changes and it will be back to the high standard.

BEST platform for managing a LARGE team

Pros

The interface is extremely simple and extremely effective in scheduling the work hours of an exceptionally large team. Never glitchy, always reliable. Laptop or App are both super functional.

Cons

I have nothing negative to say about this software.

Must have for anyone in the service industry

Pros

How easy and simple it is to use, it’s great going from a computer to the app without any issues.

Cons

The fact that when you look at your schedule it doesn’t tell you everyone who is working that day. If you are a server you can only see the server schedule and if you are a bartender you can only see the bartenders scheduled. There should be a feature that lets you see everyone scheduled not just your position.

Best app available

Pros

Ease of use, communication between entire staff and management team is as easy as can be. Forecasting is great

Cons

Mobile app needs more options, reporting should be mobile available. Some reports are redundant, but lots of info isnt a bad thing

Work Schedules Made EASY

It has been great. It is super convenient to pick up your smartphone and release shifts if you are busy on certain days or pickup shifts when you can.

Pros

HotSchedules allows us to manage our shifts with ease while allowing supervisor oversight and saving our company money.

Cons

There really are no downsides from a shiftworking employee's perspective.

Easy enough

It was decent. I wish there were a few more features like seeing who I am working with or viewing my hours from the app but it was easy enough.

Pros

Having my schedule right in the palm of my hand is nice, rather than having to search for it somewhere or report to work on off hours to get it.

Cons

Did not like that everyone had to pay for the app just to view their schedule. There should be a business cost that would cover all employees in a package.

Helpful in emergencies

This was a great software to use. After having to call-in shift changes and wait on hold for managers for years in restaurant work, this software and its app is a great gift. I also don't have to physically go to the restaurant to see my new schedule when it comes out!

Pros

I liked most how "shift-swapping" at my restaurant became very simple. I could easily release my shift on my phone app and people would pick it up or if I needed it quick I could message people on the app or call them on my phone. They could easily pick up the shift through their phone app and no need bothering a manager as a go-between. The manager does need to approve the shift, but it is simply done and after I've already got it covered :)
I liked how I can change my settings to receive email alerts or not.

Cons

I did not have any problems with this software.

Experience with Hot Schedules

Pros

The back end reporting was my favorite aspect of this particular scheduling software. Manager logs including sales information as well as labor were a huge asset!

Cons

While the logs are indeed a huge selling point, you do pay for them. The price would definitely be prohibitive for a small operation.

So awesome!!

Overall experience is amazing! This company does amazing work!

Pros

Love Hotschedules!! They are amazing at what they do and make my life so easy when it comes to scheduling my staff and letting them switch and pick up work shifts. This is definitely something that employers with many employees need to use to make their schedule!

Cons

Non at all. This software does exactly what it says and it is amazing!

Very convenient

I really like HotSchedules because it’s so convenient. The program is fairly easy to use but could use improvements like more schedule layout options.

Pros

HotSchedules is very convenient to use for the business and employees. I love that I can message everyone as a group, a specific job title, or individuals. I love that the employees can view their schedule in real time from anywhere.

Cons

HotSchedules is time consuming to use. The functionality of the scheduling area could be improved to save time. When it comes to syncing employees with our Micros system it takes too much time and has gotten “hung up” multiple times. Customer service gives great direction but takes too long to get an answer. The layout of the roster is hard to read and offering different layout options would be a huge improvement.

Whatever happened to Schedulefly?

Online scheduling and shift trading is ideal when your staff is young. If you run a business where you employ teens, I strongly advise getting it.

Pros

I like that your staff can add shifts, swap shifts, put a shift up for grabs, request days off, etc. I like that you can tweak it to require management approval for these things. I like the entire idea of scheduling this way, particularly in a restaurant setting.

Cons

The cost. Ridiculous. I should not be required to tell my employees they have to pay for an app to have these features. I would've much preferred ScheduleFly. Such a better deal for the employees.

One of best Scheduling Systems on the Market

Worked with it for several years. They are constantly evolving to meet the industry needs. Love the fact that I do not have to have several calls just to approve a shift change. It's all done on line and just a click away. A real time saver.

Pros

The variety of options available and the ease of multiple users accessibility. Also very user friendly for the staff.

Cons

A bit complicated for entry level managers

HotSchedules review

Pros

I liked that the features were self explanatory and that they were easy to use. There are also great reminders and therefore your schedules look great and are super useful.

Cons

There were a few lags in the system but nothing that stands out as a problem with a software.

Best for mobile workforce

Pros

Great tool for businesses with staff who need to be on the field most of the time using the app. Scheduling and task assignments are very easy to use. The app is very integrated with other apps including calendar amd contacts, and it has a very comprehensive reporting tool.

Cons

Just like any software, it works well for some and it does not for others; with this one however you dont get a trail version so make sure it fulfills all your needs before making the decision.

Overall decent

Overall, not too bad. Could have been better. For what you pay, I expected a bit more functionality. Cannot leave notes on staff or update different training tiers that they have completed. We have recently switched our scheduling platform.

Pros

Software makes scheduling easy for me and for my staff. Staff can request off time which managers have to approve. Our rep was able to customize some things for us, which is great! We spent a LOT of time trying to customize things for how we operated.

Cons

Pricey, for what you get. Staff have the option to "Request time off" and "Request unpaid time off"...one sends me a notification, one does not. Not sure why?

Works wonders

It's been the easiest scheduling program I've worked with.

Pros

How easy it is for myself to be able to get the weekly schedules done.

Cons

That there is no way to limit how many staff memebers can request off at a time.
