HireDesk Software

HireDesk by Talemetry is a Web-based, best-of-breed applicant tracking system (ATS) that suits businesses of all sizes across industry verticals and can be configured to each company’s unique needs.

From the HireDesk Desktop, users can access almost every part of the system in one click using the navigation tree—from data imports, to email to the solution’s reporting options.

With the system's internal search function, recruiters can search for candidates, hiring managers and even new applicants simply by typing in a name or a few keywords. The system also stores past job requisitions, which recruiters can use as templates for future open positions.

When it comes to sharing job postings, HireDesk integrates with a company’s careers page. Using the system’s talent portal display settings, recruiters can customize which fields they would like to appear on the public job posting and publish directly from within HireDesk.

I have used this system for about 3 years and although it does everything I need it to (track applicants and notes, customize fields, auto-post to various job boards) the functionality is very basic compared to many other systems out there. There has not been an update for this software for some time now and the overall system is not worth the money that you pay. We are a medium sized company however we only have one user. With their payment system, you are tied into yearly contracts that are based on the company size, not the users for their system. Their customer service is also non-existent; they only ever called me to talk about renewing the contract. Although I didn't need too much help with the system as it was fairly easy to use on the most part, their lack of contact and customer support was very disappointing. Also, their reporting functions are terrible. The system is also not mobile friendly, although you may be able to purchase an add-on to help your careers page become mobile friendly, but this is offered free of charge in most other ATS companies. Overall, I am no longer impressed with this company and will be seeking a more affordable and modern ATS; one that responds with the ever changing requirements of the recruiting industry.

Pros

Does all the basics one needs in an ATS. The Desktop is clean and can be customized to fit your needs. Job Workflows are great organizers.

Cons

Not mobile friendly. Search functions are limited and poor. Reporting is not easy to use. Cannot copy old job postings to create new ones. Limited job board customizing capabilities. They have not done an update to the software for many years and there doesn't seem to be any plans to do so in the near future.

Advice to Others

Make sure you do your research. Figure out what kind of pricing structure works for you. Find out when the last time was that the company did an update to their system and what it was. You will most likely want a system that is not afraid to change with the times and will take into consideration what changes its clients want to be made.
