This Software is leaving the market!

Up until now, other than the fact that it is somewhat outdated, we have used it effectively since 2006.

PROS

I have used this software since 2006. It has served its purpose up until now. It is based on an old technology but it still works for all intents and purposes.

CONS

I have been told by Talemetry's Account Rep that the company is "going in another direction", and when Microsoft no longer supports Internet Explorer Hiredesk will no longer exist. They have not communicated this to their subscribers by any official communication, and when questioned about this issue the rep just kept repeating that she will escalate this internally. They have a script to follow to be sure. Essentially they will continue taking your money until they shut it down. There have been no updates for a few years now. As a boutique recruitment firm it will be a large and expensive program to move all of our data, so some notice would have been most appreciated. Unfortunate that this is how they have chosen to treat their long term customers. "We aren't forcing anyone to stay." We will definitely never recommend this company or any of their existing products to anyone going forward. Highly disappointing and bordering on unethical.

HireDesk - Early 90s technology in the late 2010s!

HireDesk is very ancient technology. It's old and wrinkly and ready for a heart attack. It serves a purpose if you don't want to use anything but your ancient 8088 processor and Windows 95. Too bad you can't use any browser but Explorer (I know - you're asking "what is Explorer?" It is a browser, sort of like Netscape and Alta Vista...that's how old this technology is. It is pre-Facebook tech). The company is no longer updating this program, although their legacy support is terrific. Don't waste your time - get something that will work with current technology - you will be SO much happier.

PROS

It is relatively inexpensive! It has a great search feature, as long as you understand legacy search techniques.

CONS

The interface is Explorer 11 or lower ONLY. It looks as if it is early computer technology (think 90s Oh MY - look at this new thing called the INTERNET) technology. It can't be used on any mobile device. It does not automatically import cover letters. All fields have to be manually checked for accuracy.

Basic System - Not Worth the Money

I have used this system for about 3 years and although it does everything I need it to (track applicants and notes, customize fields, auto-post to various job boards) the functionality is very basic compared to many other systems out there. There has not been an update for this software for some time now and the overall system is not worth the money that you pay. We are a medium sized company however we only have one user. With their payment system, you are tied into yearly contracts that are based on the company size, not the users for their system. Their customer service is also non-existent; they only ever called me to talk about renewing the contract. Although I didn't need too much help with the system as it was fairly easy to use on the most part, their lack of contact and customer support was very disappointing. Also, their reporting functions are terrible. The system is also not mobile friendly, although you may be able to purchase an add-on to help your careers page become mobile friendly, but this is offered free of charge in most other ATS companies. Overall, I am no longer impressed with this company and will be seeking a more affordable and modern ATS; one that responds with the ever changing requirements of the recruiting industry.

PROS

Does all the basics one needs in an ATS. The Desktop is clean and can be customized to fit your needs. Job Workflows are great organizers.

CONS

Not mobile friendly. Search functions are limited and poor. Reporting is not easy to use. Cannot copy old job postings to create new ones. Limited job board customizing capabilities. They have not done an update to the software for many years and there doesn't seem to be any plans to do so in the near future.

Great Software!

PROS

Great beginners ATS tool. Does the basic functions need to properly recruit candidates. Has the function to leave notes for all team members to view.

CONS

Not compatible with modern technology. Needs to be more contemporary for today's market. For example, does not have the function to directly contact candidates through the ATS system. Not compatible with Firefox.

The Noninteractive Software

Started off great but the system did not stay relevant and it was a slow decline in use for me with a raising of the fee--not a good value at all.

PROS

Fairly easy to use, straightforward. Have decent support, which was needed.

CONS

Not as interactive as it needs to be, can only access through Explorer which is no longer supported by Microsoft, causing system crashes and slow loading. Not a lot of functionality, no ongoing training or additional new products. One year the pricing was determined by a high pressured sales person who asked what I thought the software was worth and dickered with me on pricing--not a professional sales system. When I changed to another system, the importing of all my data was a joke. Hiredesk totally messed it up.

Review for Hiredesk

It was okay. A bit lagging in terms of features. For example, when doing an email blast it took time to send.

PROS

I liked that you can mass email candidates

CONS

What i lease liked about this software was that it was slow loading

Hiredesk out of date

PROS

The newer Talemetry wrap is a huge improvement over this older version which really didn’t meet our needs.

CONS

Lack of functionality on the recruitment marketing front - couldn’t post jobs in appropriate postal code because of town size limitations. Not a fit for companies with operations in smaller towns.
