Kronos Workforce Central Software


 

Kronos Workforce Central is a set of human resource and workforce management applications including Kronos HRMS, payroll, time and attendance, absence management, scheduling and more. The Workforce Central suite of tools has been created specifically for industries to help manage the workforce on a cloud platform that is scalable, secure and mobile.

Workforce Central is an automated solution that enables organizations to manage schedules, track time and attendance, manage attendance and leave policies and measure productivity. Additional features give managers insight into labor demands, worker availability and scheduling across the organization. The user interface includes one-click access to frequently used features and a customizable employee self-service portal. Suite-wide reporting and analytics provide managers with visibility into standardized data via alerts and dashboards.

What I like most about Kronos is it's reporting features within the system. Working in our HR department, we are often times asked to create very specific reports for our leadership team and Kronos allows us to get very detailed with the information we need to generate reports on in the system. Another feature I really enjoy is the timekeeping side of the system. Employees always share with us how simple the process is to record their time, which is nice when you have a large amount of employees to keep track of their time.

Cons

What I like least about the system is that it is often very difficult to understand how a change in one area of the system will have an effect on other areas of the system because their is so much information being stored in so many different ways within the platform. Something as simple as a date change in Kronos can effect so many other areas that you don't realize until you stumble across a problem later down the road. It would be nice to see Kronos make the system more user friendly for those not as ingrained in the system.

Overall, the simplicity and accuracy of the product, in addition with its ability to integrate with various clock systems -- whether managing hourly or salaried clinical or professional staff -- are well worth the added complexity of a catchall system.

Pros

Very helpful for managers who have both hourly and salaried direct reports, especially in healthcare professions where clinical and business side employees are managed very differently. Employees love the simplicity, and as a manager, it is very convenient for keeping track of time for hourly and salaried clinical and non-clinical staff alike.

Cons

It is a little complex occasionally. Although the ability to manage several types of employees in one place is convenient, it also means that there is a lot of information that does not apply to each individual. It's a necessary tradeoff for the convenience factor that is nevertheless irritating at times, especially to the individual employees who see no added value.

Overall, Kronos has proven itself to be a very useful tool.

Pros

I used Kronos with both the Desktop Version and App Version on my phone. The software was extremely easy to navigate and use. The feature of viewing your previous, current, and next week schedule was very useful. Tracking my hours worked, as well as upcoming schedule was very helpful when planning things ahead of time.

Cons

The user password had to be reset every couple of months, which was very inconvenient. The password could only be reset on the desktop. If my password had expired, I was unable to access my schedule. It was necessary to keep a printed schedule as a back up, since this seemed to happen a few times over a matter of just a year. I would be nice if there was an option to reset the password from the app.

My Experience with Kronos

We had considered adopting the entire HRIS platform but it was cost prohibitive and included a constrained and limited business intelligence platform.

Pros

We were able to automate our timekeeping process. We were able to generate real time reporting and also ad hoc metrics.

Cons

There was no ACA support
There were not metrics or business intelligence dashboards
Every user required the purchase of a software user
There was no geo position software

So far, so good is my experience with Kronos. I enjoy learning new things all the time and I have only the utmost respect for those technicians that, given the right feedback on what we need, they seem to know exactly how to help each and every time.

Pros

I believe the entire suite is satisfactory. Our employees use the Kronos clocks to log their time and enter PTO requests. Managers get the request and approve them as they see fit. KWC has tons of reporting options, lots of ways to view data. And by tons of reports I mean an overwhelming amount that would be great for analysts to use as needed for managerial decision. As an admin I can assign different reporting and security choices to user as needed for the individual to perform their work. A huge plus: their technical support staff always happens to be

Software seems to be slow especially when initially logging in. Also, it continuously asks me to install Java and when I install it, it does not seem to register that process.

I would not recommend Kronos to anyone. I wish I had done more research before signing the contract.

Pros

Reporting is about the only good thing that Kronos has to offer.
But you have to do a lot of customizing before coming up with a good report.

Cons

Unable to track unpaid time off
Poor implementation process
Charges for something that we are unable to use due to lack of knowledge from the implementation manager.

I like that this product is easy to navigate. It allows for you to check your time card approval online as well as correct missed punches. I like that there is added security such as fingerprints scanner.

I do not like that there is no back button. If you accidentally navigate to the wrong area while using the touch screen you must restart the whole process.

Effective management of timekeeping and scheduling.

Pros

It manages payroll and scheduling effectively when you know how to use it. It has many good reporting features and interfaces well with other software-eg peoplesoft.

Cons

It can be difficult at times with creating patterns-it needs to be completed in a specific sequence or changes that you dont want can occur. It also does not show availability on a schedule when printed-only in the scheduling assistant. It would be nice if it carried over onto a printed schedule

I LOVE that it makes asking for time off and granting it easy! It makes it easy to look up your working schedule without having to go in to actual work environment.

The best software I have ever work with in term of the ease of use and customer service, they really know there business.

Reporting functionality has improved as well as the separated comments and audit sections where cumulative comments can be seen

Coping and pasting in scheduler seems to take more time than previous versions-you need to be very precise with cursor or it wont work

The fact that you can add schedules to and it can alert you with attendance. It is very simple to use and love the alerts it provides.

Kronos does what it's literally supposed to do -- allows users to record their hours and managers to approve them.

Cons

At least the version we're using feels very, very outdated. It requires Java and doesn't run well when you don't use Internet Explorer. The interface isn't user friendly or intuitive at all. It's confusing to submit hours, approve overtime, see how many vacation hours you've used, review past hours, etc.

We installed Kronos stations at all our locations and it simplified our whole HR and payroll systems by enabling an easy to enforce standardization of our timekeeping policies.

Cons

The only downside (and the eventual reason we stopped using the system) was some trouble we had with biometrics.

It can be slow and kick you out sometimes. I think we would like it even more if we had Kronos payroll but we currently do not so that makes the pay integration difficult at times.

Easy to use.

Pros

Tons of options and customer support is great during interface and development. Newest version has lots of options and widgets.

Cons

Program runs slower with upgrades. Lots of bugs during upgrade and development. Not as cost effective as I would like for the options available.

This program is easy to use for the staff clocking in and out at a time clock. They can check their punches too.

Cons

It's easy for the people punching but not so easy to correct punch errors. They system also does not run on all internet browsers.

Kronos makes it easy to change availability of each employee. It also allows for organizing groups of employees by particular job duties.

Cons

Once you have made changes to the schedule for each day, it takes awhile for information to be updated. The more employees you have the longer it takes unfortunately.

It's a MUCH easier system to use than our previous system.

Pros

There is definitely an ease of use with this system. The initial set up takes some time (as does any system), but the contacts you have are wonderful in assisting with that.

It s very easy to maneuver & use the entire system & there are great knowledge tools to use.

Cons

There are a lot of products to use, so in order to get the best of the system, you have to buy everything, from Talent Management to Leave to Scheduling.

Buyer beware. They charge you for everything. Unless you fit their established guidelines you will have to customize your system.

Cost, support, turn over , turn over in people, turn around time.

Advice to Others

Best advise go with someone else. 2 years into a project to upgrade and migrate to a hosted solution we are still waiting. They have had turn over of project managers, key integration specialist. Feeling of having to keep telling them who you are and what your current setup is. Then to add insult to injury they literally charge you for everything. For a global company this is piracy at its best.
