### Clean UI and solid for scale, but pricey and not great support

Before using Lever, we were relying on spreadsheets and a mix of disconnected tools to track candidates, which created a lot of noise and manual work. Lever solved the core problem of centralizing candidate data and hiring activity in 1 place, which immediately reduced coordination overhead. Having a single system made collaboration between recruiters and hiring managers much smoother, w/o constant back-and-forth or status updates. The built-in automations, particularly around follow-ups and routine tasks, removed a significant amount of admin work from the recruiting process. As a result, the team is more organized, spends less time managing processes, and more time on high-value work like candidate conversations and decision-making.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

We use Lever as our ATS in a fast-moving, scaling environment where speed of setup and adoption were important. One of its biggest strengths is how clean and intuitive the interface is. Onboarding time was minimal, which mattered bc we needed to move quickly, and the initial setup didn’t require much external support. Lever became a core ops tool for us and is used daily. The customizable workflows and automations are particularly helpful when dealing with higher hiring volume, as they reduce manual coordination and help keep processes consistent across roles and teams. The LI integration works smoothly in practice, and the in-app support chat is useful for resolving small, tactical questions w/o slowing the team down. Overall, it provides enough structure and visibility to keep hiring on track without adding unnecessary complexity.

#### Cons

Customer support feels more reactive than proactive in our experience. Outside of renewal cycles, there is limited ongoing engagement, which makes the relationship feel transactional rather than advisory. Pricing can also be a constraint for smaller or earlier-stage teams. While the core product is strong, some advanced capabilities, particularly around reporting, come at an additional cost that may not be accessible to all teams, like ours. Finally, the latest analytics layout is difficult to use in practice. Getting to the data needed for day-to-day decision-making isn't always intuitive, and reporting requires more effort than expected unless you invest in higher-tier options.

#### Reasons for choosing Lever

Visibility over complexity - Lever’s UX surfaces the right information without overwhelming.

Lever is a good ATS for startups and growing recruiting functions. It is simple to easy, easy to ramp up on, and very intuitive. Most new team members have no trouble adjusting to Lever and comfortably using it. You can often play around and find answers to your questions without having to reach out to support.

#### Cons

Too simple at times. Could be a bit more robust in its functionality. We often run into issues with integration via other softwares or our accounts.

Because Google sheets isn't scalable for a full ats solution

It is okay. I can review the feedback notes, send rejection emails from the system. I like that it integrates with Recruitbot which helps with scraping information from the web on candidates.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 4/5
- Value for money: 3/5
- Customer support: 4/5
- Functionality: 3/5

#### Pros

I like that is tit serves a repository of information and allows for you to easily archive your candidates

#### Cons

I do not like that it is a standalone and does not integrate with Paycor or Paycom. This causes duplicity with entries. I also do not like that you cannot include additional documents such as health benefits information along with the offer letters. It only allows the offer to go out

#### Reasons for switching to Lever

The system was not robust enough. Did not provide the correct tracking and reporting we need. Could not determine where the candidate was in the process

It's quite simple to use and the interface is very straightforward. There are filters that you can use to filter the job postings by location, department, work type, etc. The application form is easy to pre-fill by uploading a CV. We also use it for our internal referral program.

#### Cons

#### Ratings breakdown

#### Pros

What we appreciated most about Lever is its flexibility in data and privacy management, adapting well to the specific requirements of different countries.

#### Cons

However, the unified pipeline presents challenges, as it forces us to include certain steps only relevant in specific regions. This setup requires HR to manually manage candidate movement through each stage, as delegating this to hiring managers could lead to confusion with steps unique to certain countries, potentially complicating the hiring process.

#### Reasons for choosing Lever

privacy compliance in europe and possibility to differenciate data and privacy workflow between italy and usa

Overall 4/5. There are things that I would change but as I said it does the job. At the end of the day, it is all a question of your usage, your team, the scale of the business, and ofc your budget. Lever is a great solution if you have a small team under 10 recruiters, company size under 1k, and a small budget to operate with. If you know how to run scrappy and get things done, Lever is a solid choice.

#### Ratings breakdown

#### Pros

Simple.Intuitive. Extremely easy to onboard new recruiters and get them up to speed. All the basic functionality to run a quick process is there. Not expensive - for the price point I would say delivers a lot of value.

#### Cons

Not innovative. They accept feedback - but nothing gets implemented. Even simple things that should take no time. I wish they were listening to the customers who are using the product every day - we want to help and make Lever better.

#### Reasons for choosing Lever

I am not the decision-maker for the implementation. When I joined the team - Lever was already there.

Overall switching to Lever has made our TA Team more efficient and we couldn't be happier!

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Lever is a fantastic ATS and very easy to use. We love use automations to automate some of our manual tasks, it's very easy to set up interviews with Lever's interface. The many integrations help speed up our onboarding process as well! Implementation was a breeze, [sensitive content hidden] was a great implementation manager and was working along side me the whole way.

#### Cons

Lever has a feature to book phone screens which is convenient but doesn't let you add buffer time between calls. I'm hoping they add this feature in a recent update.

#### Reasons for switching to Lever

iCIMS seemed out dated with their features and it seemed like anything we wanted to add to increase our efficiencies came at a cost when other ATS were offering that as a standard option.

By far the best ATS that I have used in 15 years of recruiting. The UI is intuitive, the ability to manage your pipeline using is as easy as they come. The reporting is accurate and it is easy to identify what impacts and triggers. I did 15 demos before deciding on Lever. And after each Demo I felt like there were missing tools or a misalignment on what those ATS did vs what I believed was an effective way to manage candidates through the interview process. With Lever I felt like the softwares functionality matched with my philosophy on recruiting and the candidate experience.

#### Cons

#### Reasons for choosing Lever

Levers focus on the candidate profile and the ability to manage your pipeline best allows me to manage candidates through the pipeline, providing a great candidate experience and never missing/ghosting candidates.

#### Ratings breakdown

The platform is incredibly easy and simple to use. Our hiring managers like the ease and simplicity of being able to review applicants efficiently (quickly). Also having the ability to pull a candidate into the candidate pool if the recruiter didn't include them.

#### Cons

Not ideal for very large corporations who need a more robust solution.

#### Reasons for switching to Lever

Jobvite overpromised and underdelivered features that were essential to our business. To "upgrade" for the functionality we were initially promised, but did not receive, would have cost our company an additional $35k per year.

Awesome dashboards and tools for performance rewiev and capabilities for continuous performance tracking since of sourcing, offer digital sign, onboarding and KPI tracking to hardware and policy documents assignments.

#### Cons

No solution for work force sourcing. That limits us for using it for construction industry and we are missing for access to contractors data bases. Above the average pricing. Time tracking needs attendance controls automation. Applicant resume parsing needs browser capabilities to be switched on. Good to have unified CV profile applicable to different ATS. Hard to migrate from previous ATS to Lever and needs specific mapping. Can have limits for using in offshore locations.

### Vast improvement in the automation of our young, growing tech company's hiring process

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

I love its seamless integration with the tools we most use--Gmail, Google Calendar, Slack, Abacus, and Docusign. It has made our entire hiring process more seamless as a result. For applicants, it provides a more professional, personalized (if templated!) experience than what our young company had previously afforded. For our People Operations department (of one) it has vastly improved our organization of resumes. Previously, I received from multiple sources (hand-delivered resumes, forwarded emails of resumes, dozens of job boards) often receiving resumes from people who were not directly involved with the hiring process. Lever has helped keep the channels of communication open between varying levels of involvement, equipping team members to track at the distance that makes the most sense for them. Furthermore, it has renewed energy throughout the company regarding our democratic hiring process. It is helpful that all team members can refer candidates more easily to the wider team, and that they can see all of their feedback forms/interviews in once place. The Slack reminders regarding feedback prove helpful since so much of our work is carried out via Slack. I also very much enjoyed the implementation process with Phil. He made clear that there is no dumb question. He was consistently friendly, and empathetic when there were obstacles in the implementation. He had a great way of allowing me to train by doing instead of training by sight.

#### Cons

I look forward to the tool having more options in terms of auto-text/mail-merge. For example, it would be great if email templates had some options for dates and times. I also wish that it were possible to add multiple locations to a particular posting. I created a location called "Multiple Locations," but it'd be nice to have more specific cities listed. Perhaps I'm missing something though and this is an option. I'm still very young in my use of this tool. I also wish that the workflow process could be manipulated by super admins. If ever we need to make an edit to the workflows, we will need to contact Lever's support team. I have no doubt they will be responsive. I simply wish we were empowered to customize this ourselves as needs change. It'd be great if each department could customize their own flow for their different hiring processes. Also, the cost was nearly prohibitive for our small company. I was glad that the team worked with us on this. I trust that if we can expand its use across departments (instead of the initially approved Client Success team), the company will see its full value. Right now it's a bit costly for our 1-person People Ops 'team' in its primary focus on Client Success hires. I think to get full use out of this platform, we would need a full-time recruiter--possibly using the Teamable and LinkedIn Recruiter integrations that Lever affords.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 4/5

#### Pros

- Scheduling interviews have never been easier for our Talent Team. Our conference rooms are linked to Lever so we can do everything without checking Google Calendar! - Easy to use interface. Every tab, page, and profile is very user-friendly, with the recruiter/hiring manager in mind. - Sending candidates a link to schedule their phone interview cuts down on the back and forth. - Communication between approvers, hiring managers and interviewing team is ridiculously easy that even my mom can use Lever. - Automatic job posting to external job boards. Super easy to use for niche job boards as well! - The referral system is super easy for folks who don't use Lever on a daily basis. - Customizable application per posting. SUPER easy. I love this feature. - Reports are very easy to pull and read. - Recruiters have control over who they involve in the hiring process. Before when we didn't have Lever, all hiring managers had access to every single job posting and its applicants in front of them. Now, we assign them to specific jobs they own. They can't see anything else. - Lever Extension on Chrome is insane, in a very good way. Extremely helpful when you're sourcing candidates on LinkedIn! - Andrew is great. Always there when we had questions and always willing to hop on a call with us. - Implementation phase was super quick and simple. The Lever team did whatever we asked and in turn, we did whatever they asked.

#### Cons

- Requisition approval needs fine tuning. When we decide to hire internally for a requisition that has already been approved, we have to delete the current req and add another one indicating it was an internal hire in order for us to report on the number of internal hires. There's very little you can do with a req once it's been approved without getting the approvers involved again. - Offer approval is backward, in my opinion. The letter should be drafted first, then sent out to the approvers for their review. Right now, it's approval first, then offer letter draft. - Referrals are counted as "applicants" and not "leads." That's crazy to me. - Once a lead has applied through our careers website, we have to manually move them from the lead bucket to the applicant bucket. There's no automatic transfer. No notification, either.

The user experience with Lever was much higher than that of most ATSs that I've used. My favorite functions included:- reminding interviewers to submit feedback- being notified when an interviewer submitted feedback- being able to see when the candidate's next interview was scheduled- the notes section on a candidate profile for those one-off conversations with candidates or when discussing with a hiring manage- Being able to tag someone in the notes- Resume review was quick and painless

Lever provided us with an effective strategy for recruiting the best talent. The automation of Lever made it easy to job postings and receive applications, while the sorting and filtering capabilities eliminated the need to manually review resumes and applications. Additionally, Lever documented all interview and evaluation procedures transparently.

#### Ratings breakdown

- Ease of use: 5/5
- Value for money: 5/5
- Customer support: 5/5
- Functionality: 5/5

#### Pros

Our organization has found Lever to be the perfect talent acquisition solution. Lever provides intelligent functionality and automation that simplifies its usage, allowing us to easily create, edit, and publish job postings and experiences across various social media platforms, notably LinkedIn. Lever's automation feature guarantees that no suitable candidate is overlooked by automatically sorting through applications. I especially appreciate that Lever allows us to manage all stages of recruitment, share feedback and ratings about candidates transparently, and automatically document all updates on the candidate's page.

#### Cons

It's not too complicated, especially since the customization capabilities are excellent. I just hope that some restrictions are removed so we can add grades/marks during the quick review process for a large list of applicants.

### Clean Functionality, but Major Flaws

#### Ratings breakdown

- Value for money: 3/5

#### Pros

Lever has made a great many clever, intelligent design choices. For example, color coding makes for a clean UI with clear calls to action, so that when a candidate needs to be scheduled for an interview, a big blue "schedule" button appears next to their name.

#### Cons

Our company recently made a terrible discovery about some secret Lever functionality. It turns out that some our top executives have been somehow put on a secret "Suppressions List" which caused all of the messages being sent to them within Lever to be blocked. Many of these messages were time sensitive and mission critical. As a result of this "secret suppression", several top candidates bottlenecked at key points in the hiring process. After not receiving a response, many of them dropped out and extremely valuable talent was lost. So instead of accelerating our recruiting process, this suppression list functionality damaged our process. And the WORST part of all this is that Lever never once informed us about any of this. We discovered it ourselves. No one in our company was notified when our executives were added to this censor list No one in our company was ever informed that this could EVER happen No documentation or info was ever provided to us about this kind of "Suppressions List" functionality We still do not know how this Suppressions List is tracked or maintained This Suppressions List functionality is not covered in any of the Lever on boarding training with new clients This Suppressions List is not described anywhere in the Lever HELP documentation This Suppressions List is not accessible to our Lever Admins Why would any legitimate ATS company build such terrible gestapo like censorship into the bones of their product? We are still scratching our heads on this question, while we try to undo the damage that was caused
