It would be nice to have some higher level education available. Especially if it could provide background on how the software is written. The support team is knowledgeable in the software and provides support for most concerns that arise. #### Cons The integration with accounting via the payroll module causes confusion and reconciliation issues when corrections are made. In addition, the variable sequences for processing can cause a headache if you have not set your system up exactly how it should be. Overall, P4C Foundation Payroll module is less than fair for the value. The customer support is available at times of an emergency, which is VERY helpful; however, in non-emergency situations, it can take days for a return call. The software functionality is cumbersome, but does get the job done with processing payroll. I would recommend understanding your company's needs and explore all options prior to selecting this software if you're a smaller sized company. #### Ratings breakdown - Ease of use: 2/5 - Value for money: 2/5 - Customer support: 4/5 - Functionality: 2/5 #### Pros Checks & Balance process to process weekly payroll is helpful. Access to generate Certified Payroll Reports. Customer service will call back timely in emergency, but not for a non-emergency call. #### Cons The software is NOT intuitive. Feels like a DOS based payroll software. Creating employees & union tables is cumbersome & easy to make mistakes having multiple screens to access separately for employee retirement options, unions, etc. Employee clock in/out feature does not round to nearest 15 minute. Formularies do not always align with other reporting modules (ie. workers comp reports, union reports, etc.) Customer support is helpful, but sometimes depends on who you're talking to for the resolution. Reporting is not as customizable as I would like. The Mobile options is also not intuitive, to add an employee, and not be able to assign the employee to designated areas from one screen is silly. Also our rep that customized our software did it backwards, therefore making it less user friendly. The employees have a difficult time accessing their pay stubs. There's no current training tutorials available for different mobile app options. #### Reasons for switching to Payroll4Construction Certified Payroll. Previously payroll was managed out of office by accounting firm. I appreciate how quickly support gets back to us when we have an urgent issue. I do appreciate supports checks once we submit payroll - there have been a few times they caught some errors for me. I love the employee wage detail report, as well as the timecard history. Those reports have help me tremendously with reporting I have to do. #### Cons Sometimes it feels like the answers from support can be not a full effort response. We ran into quite a few problems with our fringe, and had to talk to multiple support people to finally get it figured out. I would like more opportunities for custom reporting, although that is more on the accounting side, payroll reports are pretty good. I was VERY disappointed with our support when we first launched - a ton of stuff was set up incorrectly that we didn't realize until way down the road. #### Reasons for switching to Payroll4Construction EBacon was a nightmare for Payroll. It was so expensive, so time consuming I can't even put it into words. P4C is a million times better than EBacon. #### Vendor response Thank you for the honest feedback, Courtney! The interface is intuitive enough that even our office staff who aren't tech-savvy picked it up right away, and running payroll now takes a fraction of the time it used to. Every time we've called with a question — whether it's about a certified payroll report or just a general how-to — their support team has been fast, friendly, and genuinely knowledgeable. If I had to point to one drawback, though, it would be the time difference. We're based in California, and since their team operates on Eastern time, that only leaves us a small window in the afternoon to reach someone before they close for the day. On days when an issue comes up later in our schedule, we sometimes have to wait until the following morning for a callback, which can slow things down if it's something time-sensitive like a same-day payroll run. It's a minor inconvenience compared to everything they do well, but it's worth mentioning for other West Coast contractors so they know to plan around it. I like the ease of printing Certified Payroll Reports. It's pretty easy to use once you get used to #### Cons Sometimes the dates are confusing. We are unable to post in some cases without help from support. It gets confusing for us when we do bonuses to make sure they won't interfere with regular payroll and sometimes the funds get sent differently. It's hard to follow those rules of when that happens. I don't like that if you change the employee number in a timecard it doesn't automatically change the pay rate.
