Oracle Taleo Enterprise Cloud Service Software


 

Oracle Taleo Enterprise Cloud Service is a cloud-based human resources (HR) suite suitable for large and midsize businesses in all industries. Key features include candidate management and employee onboarding, especially for high volumes of employees, prospective candidates and new hires.

As part of a talent database, current employees and new candidates can be matched to open positions. Users can monitor onboarding activity, track completed onboarding tasks and manage uploaded information from new and current staff.

Employee referrals can be used to source talent, and HR personnel have access to talent reports and recruiting pipeline data to assist with the development of recruitment programs. A single view of available and potential talent across all processes is also available.

Oracle Taleo Enterprise Cloud Service can be integrated with other Oracle software. It is priced on a per user per month basis.

Taleo Not Serving Customer, Not Serving Ultimate Clients

Lighten-up Taleo, you're not that important. Allow applications to be submitted w/o registration and so many questions.

Pros

The service is technical, too technical. Long-time in the market place. Terrible reputation with most candidates and growing with their customers.

Cons

A L-T friend, bank exec, noted that Taleo gets much negative feedback from their recruits for mid-high level positions. Too much info, time, questioning, etc. VPs don't want to spend time filling in blanks in a data base. He said this to me because I filled a Taleo 'VP' application for his subsidiary bank with a Taleo internal rejection. The rejection was due to Taleo's issue with "Masters of Business Administration" vs "MBA" and "Masters Business Administration". Apparently, many people, even more mid-high level people are tired of this nonsense. The result is that they just won't use Taleo. The old method of give the friend a call, email a resume, etc are being kicked out by HR directors. It was replaced with a basic, load resume, fill in key info system. Thanks to Taleo, the current 2 hours of input by the recruit, no feedback to the recruit and the best candidates are not joining your company's team.

Cons

The potential for this product is great, so you may end up asking for everything, WAY before you're prepared to use it all, which might render the simple things the system does, useless.

Cons

not too satisfied with this product. Currently searching other ATS . When we purchased this item I was not aware that I could not use a lot of its features because we only have 700 employees. I was told in order to do some of the items I had to be on the Business Edition. Implementation was not very helpful either I am doing too many manual steps I want a user friendly ATS. Posting jobs, customizing the application, sending offer letters, onboarding into our ATS, and being able to work directly with our background vendor. All features that do not work

Lots of functionality - if you can find it

Taleo Business Edition (TBE) is an applicant tracking system with tremendous functionality. The problem is finding that functionality. It is very difficult to use, almost programmer like in its requirements for templates and workflows. And although it offers multiple languages to support a global enterprise, it does not allow for separate requirements in terms of requisitions, approvers, etc. Either everyone does it, or no one does. Lastly, the Chinese language used does not translate accurately, per my Beijing group, and so is unusable to them.

Pros

Having all my candidates in one place, separated by Req.

Cons

Difficult to use. Where's the drag and drop? Where are the smart features? It even looks clunky.

Advice to Others

Unless you have a fully integrated recruiting and hiring process where workflows are necessary, don't use this system. It is simply too robust for simplified recruiting processes.

I like that it does give you a place to house your candidates.

This product has too many features and options to customize, too many reports need to be built only if you know how to code. The scheduling feature is very hard to work with and the bugs that happen are a bit scary.

Recommendations

If you are looking for a product that you can completely customize, this is the one. However, keep in mind, you need to have a TALEO super administrative person on staff or a budget to fill the needs of training, fixing, and setting every little piece up.

It is simple to add in candidates and positions, keeps good track of the candidates submitted for positions, reports are easy to make, easy to open the software, and it keeps track of your recent activity to candidates are easy to revert back to when needed

Duplicates names and positions regularly, can't search via zip code, not efficient enough for recruiting in my eyes unless your a smaller company (1 to 15), can't go back and delete things unless your an administrator (we all make mistakes but Taleo coerces even bigger issues when you have to get others involved). Can be frustrating

Recommendations

Be sure to look into many different platforms before picking one. Don't shy away from a product that might cost you a little more up front as the results will prove why. Make sure when demoing the product to run all the queries you currently do and also the ones that you would like to have/use; just to make sure the product meets those needs

Taleo is a difficult program for users to access, its slow and not intuitive. I also have not had great success working with our Customer Support Team, it is one of the more difficult vendors to work with.

Recommendations

Taleo is configurable however it's very important to set up the system in your planning process. We have the onboarding tool and have paid for it for 6 years now, however do not use it. This should have been set up from the start. It's very difficult and costly to implement new features in the system w/out an IT ATS wizard on your team.

Taleo gives us the ability to speed up our Onboarding process and create a positive first impression. Our employees are able to knock out their new hire paperwork before their first day, speeding up their time to production.

Likes Least

Occasionally there are bugs with the PDF's loading. For example the Form I-9 and state tax forms that we have our employees complete are sometimes unable to be completed online and we have to resort to filing them out manually. This causes a hiccup in our process and is sometimes a headache to reach out the employees with the form, ask them to complete it and email and scan back to us in a timely fashion.

Recommendations

I think it is important to shop around, be involved in as many demo's as you can and even ask your network who they are using so you can touch base with them and see what issues they have.

When you think of Oracle, you can only think of greatness. Unfortunately Taleo does not live up to the mark. The following are the flaws that I have found as a user.

I used this system as a recruiter for a major trucking company -- Taleo is a great product for storing, managing, and reviewing potential recruits. Job postings are simple enough and allow for quite a bit of in depth detail if needed. From the job seeker side, it is a typical long drawn out process to fill out, and it does lack abilities to pull in correct data from Resumes when loaded. That being said, it is still easy enough to navigate and review even from the recruit side.

Does not do a great job of grabbing correct data from uploaded resumes.

I managed a team that used Oracle LMS and CRM services for 5 years. Yes, it took an entire team to wrangle all the features and possibilities that these systems through our way. We were overwhelmed from day one with the enormity of possibilities, which often is used as a selling point for a product like this. However, I found that we spent so much time learning how to make the system do what we wanted, we weren't able to focus on our learners and what their needs were. Personally, I felt that many of the features here were simply "industry standards" that were all about creating a compliance learning environment. This is great for companies who provide training as a checkbox because it's the law or so that they can get an insurance break. However, many of the commonly believed truths about how adults learn were not addressed by this system. I preferred a simpler system, with less bells and whistles, that focused more on what they learners really wanted. Quick and easy access to information that helps them be great at their jobs. If you have a huge team and company with tons of time to spare, maybe you could make Oracle work for you. For most of us, it's just too much, both in cost and in complication.

I used Taleo at my last company, sometimes they were not very flexible with customization. The biggest pain point was the reviews/talent piece of Taleo. If you can't customize by company when each one is soo different, you shouldn't offer the service.
I think the recruiting piece of Taleo is better than the talent piece for sure.

While Taleo has a lot of robust functionality and capabilities, it's also complex, involved, and behind the times. Count on needing a full-time administrator if you select Taleo Enterprise. While it is customizable, the configuration is not simple in comparison to other HCM solutions. The end product is decent.

It is not responsive designed, meaning the mobile access is poor at best. The candidate experience is behind the times. You will have application drop off due to a legacy application process that isn't native mobile enabled.
