Workable is a standalone applicant tracking system that helps users find and hire the right people. The program replaces email and spreadsheets with a simple way of advertising jobs, receiving applications, filtering them, setting up interviews and making great hires.

Workable is a Web-based system with an intuitive design so users do not need a consultant or hours on the phone to get started. They can get up and running within 15 minutes, and nothing needs to be installed. Since the hiring begins by spreading the word about the position, the program provides advanced job listing tools that publish one submission across a host of the most popular job boards from a single screen.

Once applications start rolling in, Workable allows users to keep track of possible hires and important data. With no data entry required, the system automatically compiles applicants' resumes and social media accounts and presents them in complete applicant profiles, including pictures to help users remember applicants in every stage of the hiring process. Email notifications are also sent whenever users receive new applicants, so users can see where each potential hire falls within the pipeline. From there, the process for browsing, screening and interviewing applicants is streamlined within one cohesive program.

Cons

Would really like it to be more customizable. Jobs need to be edited not only for external use. Would be really cool to create kind of a Trello board feature to prioritize vacancies within Recruitment team. Would be great to edit Subjects of messages. Would be great to hide interviewer names from Interview events in the calendar.

Benefit of being able to view applicants in one convenient place.

Pros

Easy to use and convenient to view applications and resumes in one place. Easy to make comments to other users or forward the job to other managers to review if the person doesn't fit the qualifications I need.

Cons

Sometimes I get confused about when I make comments if the applicant will see the comments or not, because sometimes the comments are not ones they should see. It would be helpful if we could toggle over the different icons to know what they do.

Good baseline technology. Probably ready for an outside IT team to take it to the next level. Some MIT or Carnegie Mellon guys.

Pros

Simple to upload resume. That’s about it.

Cons

After uploading resume no info autopopulates.
Many. Many. Errors.
If there is a manual date entry mistake on the candidate email or cell number, fixing it is a mission.

Although I would like it if the platform itself showed the distinctive categories all in one spot with the candidates name below it in a row instead of having to click on different links. If it was all localized to one home page it would just make navigating easier.

Pros

The software itself is very useful. Having the function to have possible candidates resumes all in one spot is very neat and organized.

Cons

Overall, I find workable a very handy dandy tool when it comes to viewing potential candidates. The layout itself for each specific person is organized. Navigating throughout workable is quite easy and pretty much self explanatory.

Nice Applicant Tracking System

Easy to use; easy to maintain. Much better than the folders and Excel spreadsheets we were using before.

Pros

Really like being able to manage all or our applicants electronically. It is nice to be able to go back to history to see if there are any potential hires we can reach out to even if they applied several months ago. Also like the customization of the hiring stages.

Cons

This system is suppose to integrate with Zenefits (our employee management system) but if you turn on the integration feature the employee gets set up immediately in Zenefits with incorrect hiring dates. It also will duplicate an employee as we send out the offer letters through Zenefits since the onboarding happens through that system. Should be a way to move over all the employee details better.

Workable Review as Hiring Manager

Pros

I really like the flow of an application as it is being reviewed - shortlisting candidates and moving them along this flow is very very helpful when reviewing all these applications!

Cons

I don't like a couple of things around reviewing the application - there's a bug in the Applied webpage where if you are reviewing an application, it is impossible to scroll through the list of applicants...this is inconvenient. Additionally, I would like the opportunity to sort by date applied because I've noticed that candidates who first applied to a role are way at the bottom of the list and are more likely to be skipped over...

Overall good experience, if workable allows the employers to easily see the candidates application history without having to physically check each posting they applied to it would make the user experience much better.

Pros

I like how multiple hiring managers can access simultaneously, leave comments, and keep track of candidates.

Cons

I do not like how it is job based not profile/candidate based - for example, if the same person applies to 5 jobs we will not be able to easily see the comments/status from their other applications unless we physically check each position they have applied to. This makes it a very lengthy process. i would say this is the biggest draw back we are currently facing with workable.

Quick Starter ATS

If the filtering function is improved, I would say workable would be one of the most recommended ATS to use!

Pros

The ease of set-up and intuitive to use. Its interface is user friendly and the ease of navigation is wonderful.

Cons

The search function can be improved. Filtering through thousands of our applicants is cumbersome, would really help us if search filters are improved for existing profiles in our system (candiadtes who have already registered their profiles).

Nice that it posts to multiple sites

It works nicely to post jobs and filter candidates. Would like to integrate to our payroll system someday.

Pros

Lots of information when they change features or update.
Easy to view and move candidates around.
Email updates daily so you are able to see who has applied and for what roles without the need to log on.

Cons

The emails can often end up in the junk folder - this may be because of our domain and not workable.
During a launch of a new item and the webinar attached to the launch sometimes they are premium products but you are a not premium user, it can take while to find this out. Can be frustrating.

Easy to use product!

Pros

Functionality of the product is superb. Many of our hiring managers find it really easy to use. Often times, they don't even need a training on how to use the product.

My favorite feature is the ability to email candidates directly from the software. It's a great way to keep yourself organized especially when you are emailing a dozen candidates. It also allows other hiring managers to see your emails that way they are aware of your progress with the candidate.

Cons

One thing I do not like about Workable is the fact that the hiring stages cannot be customized for each individual role. For example, if one role requires a phone interview and another does not, I cannot remove this phone interview stages for the role that does not require it. The hiring stages are "one size fits all."

Good for the basics

They've been generally responsive to feedback and our implementation specialist was great in keeping up with us and answering questions as we ramped up and learned the program.

Pros

Easy to learn, uncluttered, easy to navigate. We have the pro plan so are able to customize it to fit our needs (separate recruiting pipelines, access levels, custom questions etc) which has been really useful for us. No tiered pricing for users like a lot of other ATS, so for a small company it's nice to have every user in there.

Cons

We've had issues with glitches - things not uploading correctly, Gmail conversations don't always sync or populate CC addresses, duplicate candidates, etc
Limiting visibility of reviews has proven difficult.
Don't love the thumbs up/thumbs down feedback system - sometimes we need more flexibility than that.

Overall our experience with workable has been great no issues that have never been resolved. An easy to use software.

Pros

I like how easy it is to use this software, it is extremely easy to teach new users most of the features that they would need to use. Another thing I love about the software is if you ever have a question most of them can be answered by looking in the help section. I use the chat feature a lot when I am having issues and the response is always fast and efficient.

Cons

I wish there was a way to kick back the voluntary EEO forms to our email when individuals fill them out instead of just a report that can be run.

Great to manage your candidate pipeline

Pros

Easy to use Interface and fantastic for team collaboration. Personal favourite features are it's integration with gmail, scheduling tools and the ability to tag colleagues in comments aiding feedback processes up.

Cons

The lack of boolean searching within the candidate database is very frustrating!
