Metric types takes time to understand. Sometimes it is very difficult to understand the graph report and it is bit technical to use.

It is friendly user.interface, it has very good customer support. It allows create flexible dashboards.

Pricing can get confusing as there are multiple tiers per feature set.

It's really helpful to monitor your development and production environment under one platform provided you know how to configure it effectively.

Although the initial learning curve of utilizing Datadog's plethora of data analytics tools is steep, it's well worth the effort and price as there is much value to the metrics Datadog provides.

The notebook feature is quite useful too, if you are not ready to spend much on dashboards. Overall, nice all in one solution to capture logs from cloud and analyze them.

I noticed that this monitoring system is very flexible, you can track pretty much any metric, which is great. Great integration with many services like AWS, Chef, Couchbase, JVM, HAProxy, MySQL etc.

DataDog is what we recommend and implement for our clients, and provides more useful features than Sensu.

Overall it has been great tool to setup infrastructure on hybrid cloud.

It’s much better than writing down the steps for doing things manually if you need to do them more than a few times.

It does not have a rollback system in case you accidentally make wrong changes to your infrastructure. Enterprise plans can be expensive, depending on the user's needs.

Constant upgrades needed to get new features, pre-defined directory structure, lots of missing features/bugs in the Azure provider.

Overall, love using Terraform and would absolutely recommend it as a way to keep track of your infrastructure in source code.

It is very extensible and works with multiple cloud platforms, popular hosting platforms like DigitalOcean, GoDaddy etc.

Terraform well suited for Infrastructure as code utility, and speed ups the deployment of the infrastructure.

The best part is that I can easily integrate it with Jenkins or Azure DevOps pipelines, Vaults for secret management, ansible, etc.

We have been exploring Terraform in paralel to other of its competitors to resolve the IAC needs for our project.

Having to manage this is annoying and can be a huge pain.

Once you get the basic syntax and familiarize your self with the error messages, things become simplified.

For someone who has zero IaC background and experience it's extremely easy to set up and configure locally. The documentation is well organised.

It’s ubiquitous and provides support for just about anything you’d a want to automate in your IT infrastructure.

Very well documented and supported by the community. Many available modules at Hashicorp.

Good documentation and examples are available to get started. It supports deployments to multiple cloud providers.

This is just one example but as you dive deeper you will find many such smaller hurdles which can get frustrating to debug.

HashiCorp products have proper and efficient documentation that makes a new user get started easily. HashiCorp products have a large and active community support since their products are open source.

Terraform is amazing because it removes some of the complexity of AWS.

At the time I'm composing this, when Terraform experiences a mistake, it stops on the progression where the blunder is experienced and any assets recently made are left set up.

The learning curve is small, APIs work very well, and it's free.

Some of the error messages are very cryptic and difficult to debug. With more and more IAC being deployed, the state file becomes bigger and bigger and the checks for changes become slower and slower.

The biggest pro it has is hands down it's ability to facilitate infrastructure as code for projects that need more than Azure hosting. Also has a polished syntax.

The best thing about Terraform is it's a free, open-source, and very easy-to-learn tool for provisioning and managing infrastructure as code.

Hashicorp products have an easy to use interface.

Terraform uses providers for interacting with vendor specific APIs for provisioning infrastructure. It uses HCL (Hashicorp language) which is quite powerful compared to plain YAML or JSON.
