Sharepoint allows us to all make sure that we are using the most up-to-date documents at all times. I am learning that it can be used for many different things. At my old job, they used it for completely different purposes than my new job.

Cons

I cannot think of any cons of using SharePoint right now. I like it and am learning more about all of its uses.

Pros

I use Sharepoint to create sites and pages that I can use to keep the rest of my team up to date with what I am working on. Creating and editing sites is pretty easy, and hypothetically, if my other team members follow the site, or know where to find the site, they can easily see what I have published.
Sharepoint sites also have the ability to display Microsoft forms, which is a feature that I use. If you are using Microsoft 365 there are a variety of features that crossover.

Cons

Personally, although SharePoint is functional, I don't like the way it looks and I don't enjoy using it. I wish it behaved more like a drag-and-drop web editor vs. a Microsoft program. But since it is a Microsoft program it makes sense that it has some of the feel and appearance of other programs like Word, Excel, etc. Personally I don't enjoy that and I don't find it very intuitive.

Pros

Used MS SharePoint to set up Document Sets for various projects, so that managers and PMs can see at a glance the stage at which the various artefacts are at. Great for version tracking and rolling back to previous versions.

Cons

Too easy to download a copy and work on it, rather than check it out and back in again with associated changes. If a message could be displayed to advise if changes to be made please check out current version, it would be helpful for those who perhaps don't understand the process.

Microsoft Sharepoint is one of the best software to own for data and document management and it is one of the best platforms market has to offer with impressive and rewarding Features.

Pros

Hybrid option which allows for cloud infrastructure and data centre. Features and compatabilities include privacy settings for the document access to only those people you want them to have access, which makes it suitable for large-scale companies to make decisions.

Cons

Sharepoint online is as low as it could be, but experts are needed for installations, which makes it a costly one.

I would highly encourage any groups looking to run meetings or collaborate on ideas and centrally store your information to look into MS SharePoint. It is a very good product

Pros

I like the ease of use. It was very easy to set up a basic website out of the box. Also it didn't take long to understands the webparts to add additional features to the site.

Cons

The workflow for SP was not as intuitive as I thought it would be. It seems you may have to add additional modules for a more robust workflow engine on SharePoint.

Pros

What I like most about SharePoint is that information can be housed in one central place to manage job tasks with permissions level accesses across all work settings, whether inside or outside a company's formal network. Task efficiencies are increased in connection with users globally.

Cons

What I like least about SharePoint is that the user and administrator interfaces are vastly different in the respect that anyone who is an administrator must alternately access the user side view after making SharePoint posts to ensure the requisite data is viewable and thereby user accessible. Setting permissions and public view levels can be cumbersome and confusing for beginners and some intermediate administrator users.

This is great for a company that has projects that they work on. This is great because they offer the company a free trial, so nothing to loose if you are looking for the just right product for your company.

An amazing product to have in your organization, especially the workflow features, although it is starting to overlap with other MS products.

Pros

- Great for collaboration - you can share files with others across your organization
- Customizable to meet the particular needs of your organization
- great for organization-wide notifications, newsfeeds, HR and other department updates
-workflows - this is probably one of the best features. You can create custom workflows for document approvals with complexity (e.g. accounts payable)

Cons

- Sharepoint is starting to overlap with other Microsoft products like OneDrive and MS Teams, which are also good for collaboration so it is good to use best practices to ensure the right stuff gets shared in the right places

SharePoint is included in the Office 365 Business subscriptions. I first started using it (and still use it) as a file library. With a little reading into it, the possibilities of SharePoint are amazing. We have used it to automate business processes and provide clients direct access to information. Even with this, I've barely scratched the surface of possibilities. SharePoint is perhaps the most under appreciated feature of Office 365.

Pros

Integration with Office 365
Excellent mobile version.
Fairly easy to customize. You don't have to be a guru to do it.

Cons

Not the most intuitive interface for customizations.
Many, many options. Yes, that's a good thing but it can be overwhelming.

Pros

Sharepoint is the best tool to use for document collaboration, great for Operations, WFM, Quality, and most of all, Training. Sharing docs throughout and the organization is super easy with Sharepoint. Agents find it very useful when updates need to be rolled out even on environments who have strict measures on CPNI and Data Protection.

Cons

It can be confusing once shared documents start to pile up, you have to keep a sharp eye for new uploads and not all users are aware of how to sort out docs properly for them to find newly uploaded docs. It's not the first choice either for storing files, it's really meant for storing documents only for collaboration.

Microsoft is very dependable (in my opinion) for making software that works well, but mostly only with its own OS. If you're doing web based work within word and you're comfortable with using the cloud to upload and keep your data, this could be helpful

Overall it has been fantastic to keep knowledge across both mechanical and electrical in one place for reference for all in both teams. Especially for newer employees.

Pros

What is really great about SharePoint is it makes it easy to put all of the accumulated knowledge and documentation in one place. This has been especially useful when we have new hires. When only a handful of us have been here for a decade or more, we have found it can be difficult to bring new hires up to speed. Especially as we didn't have any formal training documents in the past. With SharePoint we are able to continually add information and documentation to one place that everyone can use as a reference.

Cons

I'm sure it is more of there simply being so much information now, that it can be difficult to find something specific you are looking for if you don't know 'exactly' what it is you are looking for. But again, I'm sure we can find a better way to organize everything, rather than this being an issue with the product.

I have been designing SharePoint sites for work for about two years.

Pros

SharePoint allows you to share documents and collaborate on those documents with colleagues. There are extensive options for setting permissions on SharePoint so that specific users/groups can access/modify documents/pages/sites. SharePoint is an enterprise solution, so your entire organization is able to benefit from a secure, shared environment.

Cons

Depending upon what you want to do, SharePoint can be a challenge to set up. Granted, SharePoint does give you the option of setting up templates for your pages, but if that capability is turned off by your network policies, creating new pages can be very slow and manually intensive. Although adding users/groups to permissions is relatively "simple", it is also somewhat roundabout. If you have your pages set up to be very secure, you practically need to be a site admin just to add a user's permissions.

Out of the entire lineup of software created by Microsoft, SharePoint is by far my least favorite software to us. It will do the job, but can take some time to get it done.

In 2011, when we just introduced Share Point to our company, problems rolled at us like a snowball: putting digital signatures worked once, synchronization with mobile platforms almost never worked, and to deal with the interface, we lost hundreds of hours. But now these problems are no more. Microsoft corrected them, made the service more simple and stable. Now this is a completely different Share Point, for which it is not a shame to give money.

Cons

The mobile application still needs debugging. Sometimes it crashes, and sometimes it just doesn't give access to the data. The response time to requests in the mobile application is higher than in the desktop version of the service.

We use it to share all documents for each implementation project and we can share the project page with the client

Pros

That you can create many pages and share each of them with different users

Cons

It’s difficult to lear all their functionalities. I worked in many compagnies that used it and never found a company that really knew all they could do with it
