eSUB Subcontractor Software


 

eSUB is a mobile application and cloud-based project management solution that helps commercial subcontractors across various trades to manage day-to-day operations. eSUB offers tools to connect field workers with office managers and assists them with initiating and managing project documentations. eSUB eliminates manual processes of tracking projects and automates labor tracking and communication.

eSUB creates paperless projects with one central storage for project information, photos, drawings, PDFs and any other documents that all team members access in real time. Logging in through a secure internet portal, eSUB’s project management module allows subcontractors to create, log, and track important documents like requests for information (RFIs), change orders, and more. eSUB’s timecard module tracks subcontractors’ labor hours and costs, which can be sent from the field to accounting software.

All information can be accessed at any time from any location on any mobile device. The solution is used by various contractors such as electrical, mechanical, specialty, HVAC and plumbing contractors.

Wonderful - no more lost COR and troublesome RFIs

What we like tho most is that it standardizes the look and feel of our RFIs and CORs across the firm and we can now effortlessly track each. No more lost and unanswered RFIs and we can track our CORs.

Cons

We have yet to find anything that we cannot solve by chatting with tech support. There is a learning curve but it is rather flat compared to other software systems we have tried.

As a hole I believe that this software will better our company. The amount of man hours that this software has been saving us the more and more that we use it is incredible. I feel that by stepping out and gaining a tool like esub we are not only becoming more efficient as a company but also becoming more competitive in our field.

Pros

The product is great and Esub's customer service is off the charts. When we needed help with an issue we had great support staff to give us a hand. The customer representative with Esub is hands down one of the best contacts to have at Esub.

Cons

My only con is at the beginning of Esub. Making sure that they understand your business so they are more understanding of the types of information that you need to for the implementation process and what information will not be necessary. Understanding of the cost codes and PO information etc.

If you are struggling with timesheets, project tracking, daily reports, this is a great product for you!

Pros

We reduced the amount of time spent on our commercial painting company projects by taking away the need to work in Excel, QuickBooks, Word, Outlook and a good old fashioned dry erase board.

Cons

You have to be willing to invest in the product but it is truly worth it when you compare hours spent chasing down timesheets in the field or GPS based to the sec clocked in timesheets, manhours calculating the time and adjusting, entering into QB and printing checks....

Easy flow. Live updates. Can go as deep as you want in areas, or just basic inputs if that is all you are seeking in that area.
Customer service has been fantastic. If the product is unable to provide requested information they are able to tell you that, and even help find ways to work around the issue and find a fix.

Cons

We were hoping for more of a long range scheduling feature. Similar to a gantt chart view.
We were told some things by our sales person that were not 100% correct.
Our customer service person was able to help fill in those gaps for us.

The customer service/ support is amazing. Overall everything you might want in a system is already there. The few things needed to customize it for your company can usually get done. Our foremen, who may not have much computer experience out in the field, have easily gotten accustomed to it as well.

Pros

The ease of use- even for computer illiterate people. There is not much more that you could ask for especially for subcontractors. Most of the software out there is for general contractors.

Cons

The benefits are amazing! We can see reports and real time accomplishments from the jobsite to the office. Communication is at an all time high. I can see everything with my phone and anything I need is just a few keys away! Job costing, employee info and tracking is fantastic!

Teaching new employees how to use esub can sometimes be difficult. Also- it would be good to know everything that esub is capable of. I see that Esub now has an Esub academy and I feel like that would be very helpful.

Very easy to navigate. Keeps good track of all records. I have not used the software to its full potential. But when i do i am sure it will be a smooth transition. Got me in the market of using PM software.

Pros

Simple easy to learn. Focused on the sub contractor first. Has a toolbox of forms and letter templates that is nice for a small contractor.

Cons

It was supposed to be simple and slim for the Sub Contractor not the Prime General but it left out key features and trapped your data and information. PO module is very clunky. Training and implementation was not what I expected for the price you pay. Does not integrate well with accounting.

Within the construction space this is a solid tool with a good runway for growth and improvements.

Pros

The software has a very good suite of tools and is relatively easy to use. Nice clean UI compared to many other tools in this space.

Cons

I would love to see them move to an open API where integrating with other tools is possible. They do really well from a project management standpoint, but we would like to be able to connect to our ERP and CRM.

Saved thousands of dollars on support and field production time.

Pros

We came to eSub after a horrid experience with another vendor that claimed they would "simplify" my life and save us countless hours and money. After 12 months with thousands and thousands of dollars spent on support and wasting way too many hours to admit without profound embarrassment, I made the choice to abandon the failing attempt and give eSub a try.
I tested eSub for a few months before making a complete shift to their platform and the only regret is I did not do it sooner. The conversion was smooth, the training was on point and the relationship is that of a partner not a parasite looking to milk us dry with a poorly engineered and supported product. We have saved thousands of dollars, countless productive field hours and I don't spend my entire day managing our management software. Feel free to look us up with any questions.

Cons

If forced to submit a "con", the only thing that we have requested, from time to time, is a custom form or a modification to the way items are displayed. BUT... this is because we are trying to preserve OUR method. The eSub method is not flawed, we are making the request. The support team is still extremely responsive and I really don't see this as a con.

Daily jobsite reporting and time tracking, as well as the simplicity of their field notes make this software an excellent link between what's going on in the field and management in the office. The automatic tracking of RFIs and submittals also helps avoid things falling through the cracks. The eSUB team has also done an excellent job of continually working to streamline the product and to fit the users needs.

Cons

The biggest con with the software is in their file management for uploaded job information such as drawings. If you have a typical project layout for how you want to file things, you'll be fine, but if your project becomes unusually complex it may require some extra effort to make sure everything stays clear.

Tracking everything that's being submitted to the GC / customer / vendors for all projects.

It's great to be able to send e-mails through eSUB.

Cons

The Sales Tax Feature, most of our vendors don't provide the tax %. I'd recommend that there be another box for just the amount and the purchase order spits out the %.

Transmittals I wish you would be able to provide the signature line for that form as well, as its available for submittals.

When uploading files to the submittals, purchase orders, etc. if there's a lot attachments it would be more better if we are able to arrangement which attachments appear first. Instead you have to load one by one and remember which attachment you want to include in the order you want it to appear.

I like that it keeps everything in a chronological order. Our field users are able to log their progress and keep me in the loop of things that are happening on the job-sites. Users are able to pull up all of the information they need for their job, including the address and contacts information. The app is user-friendly in the sense that it is not hard for our guys to learn how to use it.

Cons

There hasn't been anything yet that we have found to not work well for what all we were looking for in a new construction management software.

Clarity and overall organization. Open communication between the field and office.

Pros

The software overall is simple to use, not bulky or cumbersome which made it easy to implement into our daily operations, also the Mobile app is amazingly simple and easy which actually encourages our foremen and project managers to use it onsite.

Cons

Overall I cannot think of anything that I can say that I dislike. some of the back end settings can be a little tricky to find but support is always quick to help with that.

One of the most convenient aspects of eSUB is having everything in one place. Before eSUB we were tracking jobs by saved folders on a shared drive. With eSUB everything is one place. Everyone from project management to accounting is much happier since our implementation. We are more profitable and able to serve our clients better with eSUB.

Simple, but the customer support is what really made it easy. Without them i may be struggling with esub!

Cons

The price. It is expensive. Or at least, expensive enough where our company isnt interested in getting the scheduling add.
