ACT is super easy to customize and has many add-ons that can help you do things that OOB doesn't provide to you. The best thing about this software is that it truly is so easy to navigate through and make it your own without depending on someone else to do it. If you take the time to learn what it can do you can easily learn how to change the layouts and truly make it unbelievable for your entire office.

Cons

It can be difficult to learn to maneuver and it can become slow if your business grows too fast but if you set it up right this can be easily corrected.

It worked decently before I upgraded to Windows 10 (which killed it). I could leave notes on each contact, do mail merge, use a calendar, all the basic stuff. Not much extra bells and whistles if you want to run a team off it.

Cons

It no longer works at all because its an old program. When I tried to upgrade to the newest version, it turns out that there was no upgrade path at all and the new program had nothing in common with the old program; so why bother?

ACT has been a good stable program for years and I have sued it for over 20 year. The upgrades are simple and keeps everything current.

Pros

Very functional and easy to use. This works great for a small business and helps to organize the contact and the information's. Additional functions for group and assigning roles and responsibility makes it easy to track proposals

Cons

Customer service could use some improvements for sure. He email goes through outlook which is often slow but you can work with it.

I loved this product for so long and it still has some legs to it. That being said, it is not keeping up with the modern changes.

Cons

Speed maters and the back end of this application does not appear to be upgraded in a long time. Salesforce is the leader in this product space. I really like ACT! but it is struggling to keep up.

Prior versions have been around since the stone age and the interface is familiar to us oldtimers. It has far more features than the average user will probably need.

It runs slow and will crash unexpectedly, deleting contact records in the process - I lost over 1000 contacts this way!

not my first option when it comes to CRMs, it may fall short when the business requires integration of Lead campaigns with traditional sales blitz and also optimize/automate internal sales process and flow.

Pros

Integration with MS Office, flexibility and scalability based on the size of the business and need of the organization, desktop version in addition to the web-based version (thus allowing flexibility for the organization), API availability.

Cons

price is in the premium range, mostly driven for sales and contact management but falls short when it comes to process automation and customer service options. Support can be an issue.

Pros

Prior versions of ACT integrated well with Outlook. The newest version on the surface appears to work but does not.

Cons

ACT upgrades its web services and does not notify its user until after you are no longer able to sync. Upgrade no longer syncs properly and reinserts cleared activities repeatedly each time so if you sync 5 times you will have 5 of the same activity.

Used this for roughly a year and there is a ton you can do with it. There are several marketing templates that can be used and modified that I really liked.

Cons

It’s very overwhelming when you first get into it. Because there are so any features it was difficult to get started and really do what I wanted to do. I kept getting side tracked by all the other features.

We do not use ACT as a sales CRM we use it for contact manager. We have have hundreds of thousands of records but the software could not be slower...! Recommend getting something else as we're trying to find something else!

Pros

If you have a small business and will not need to hold very many records ACT may work for you. Easy and simple to use.

Cons

How much time do you have... We hold hundreds of thousands of records and ACT can not take the load. It takes 5 minutes to look up one person! Hours to upload new data!!! Terrible for what we do!

Nothing - this program and all it's components is sold from the sales level as the answer to all of your business needs... but you have to run your business very specifically in order to make sure it works the way they want it to. No macs, you must have dedicated workers to spend their entire days creating ad campaigns and updating the information - because if my sales team tried to do it - we would never get any sales work done.

Cons

Lag time is HORRIBLE. Customer service is lacking. Updates - haven't seen any improvement in the 8 years i've been using it. the 'solution" for not being Mac compatible (which is laughable in 2018) - is to use the Cloud version on their server - it's seriously the most horrible thing and biggest waste of time. I would much rather create my own manual spreadsheets in google docs to organize my client database.

I had a fairly average experience with Act!. It got the job done for the most part, but I would not go as far as to say I had a particularly enjoyable experience or that anything exceeded my expectations.

Pros

The program had quite a few functions that were useful, and it was nice to have multiple items in one piece of software (ex. contact lists, calendar, email, etc)

Cons

I found the program to be neither user friendly, nor very aesthetic. While the latter might not matter much to some, I find it to be a fairly significant item especially when it's something that you use every single day. It reminded me a lot of the old Windows. Very gray, simple, and boring.

I was so glad to get rid of this product!

Pros

The calendar feature was easy to read with the ability to switch from daily view, to weekly view to monthly view.

Cons

Even after upgrading to the newest version we still had issues! We couldn't sync our local with our cloud. We literally waited on hold for HOURS before getting a customer service rep to even try to help. Then the rep wouldn't speak in layman's terms but instead used all technical terms which we didn't understand.

We put a local copy on each of their computers and sync to the master database. Since our equipment needed an upgrade I signed up for a trial of the newest cloud based system. It did not work, would not load on our trial computers and was totally unreliable. I called customer service who took DAYS to get back to me, and by then, we had pulled it off the test machines. We have 64000 contacts, and the Act Consultants tell us that is sketchy to transfer that many contacts to the newer systems. I am stuck with the older software, but that's ok, it works flawlessly.

Pros

None that I can think of...over our old ACT versions.

Cons

We are a long time user of Act with 64000 contacts, and thought about an upgrade and tried the newest software. Connection to ACT did not work, called customer service which took DAYS to respond, and only with trivial solutions or told us out browsers were inadequate. We cannot use cloud based software, as many of our sales persons need to travel and out of internet on the road. We asked about purchasing a copy for local server use, and they STILL have not called back.

Uses alot of memory and crashed the test computer a couple of times.

I reviewed the posts, and many are favorable, but their usage is very different than ours. Most of the positives come from short time users who have no other experience. If you have alot of contacts, doubt if this will work for you.

I have used ACT for about 18 years, and have upgraded many times. 1st with a luxury Log Home manufacturing and sales company, and the past 10 years with a multi brand NEW car dealership's sales department. Sales manager requests can be completed and printed to Excel in minutes with fine tuned parameters. It makes me look like a genius.

Pros

It is customizable, integrates with Outlook, provides reminders, accepts notes, and the backup is secure. Best of all, it is easy to order information by any field to customize and narrow down reports to identify age and products purchased, location ect.

Cons

The software versions come out too often and require updates of other Office Suite products to maintain compatibility.

This has been our groups database for over 10 years.

Pros

We can leave internal notes, create and save contracts, create custom columns for searching and organizing, can edit the format to fit our needs without consulting with the software company. You can see which user has done the work, assign reps and task other users and yourself. You can create separate databases for different functions, and assign a group under various levels (inquiry, quote, confirmed, etc.).

Cons

It's not very pretty nor modern looking, but it does the job. My computer has changed a couple of times since starting to use ACT, and with one hard drive change it was very difficult and time consuming to figure out how to change the text size within the fields, because it was tiny and apparently most monitors are huge now, so it was a big strain on my eyes.

Good as long as you only email and track costumers. Organizes neatly all contacts and emails. Basic surfaces and templates for the email campaign. It offers a cloud based service which I have found really convenient.

Cons

Sales is more than emailing and keeping track of customers.
Data doesn’t transfer to other platforms. Syncing is bad, you have to check multiple times before it actually syncs. Can’t copy the contact info. Crashes frequently.
