Hoteldruid is an open source property management solution developed by DigitalDruid.Net. The solution is suitable for small and midsize property management companies and owners managing vacation houses, apartments, hotels and hostels.

Good free hotel/accomodation management solution

This is a solution to manage accommodation such as hotels, hostels, etc. and covers all the basic features you need for a reservation system. For a non-profit, we needed a free solution that will be hosted on our server and offer basic reservation system, management of arrivals and departures, but did not need a payment system, as this is covered by other systems we have already been using (scholarships etc.). The setup was easy, basically similar to for example Wordpress installation. It took some trial and error to set up everything and to adapt the system to our use as it is suited primarily for a hotel, but it was not hard and did not need too much technical expertise. The interface might not be the most user-friendly or nice-looking as one would prefer, but it offers good options. Management of the accommodation (rooms, beds etc.) works without a problem once you set it up properly. One thing that is really useful for us is the ability to limit the possibility to make a reservation for example for less than a week in advance, which is probably not a feature most hotels would need, but in our context was really beneficial as it prevented last-minute reservations by students that we would not be able to manage as we cooperate with external partners who own the premises.

Pros

It is the only free solution I found that offers complete accommodation management process and it was not so hard to set up. It offers the possibility to make reservations, manage the property, communicate with guests etc. They offer the hosted solution that works out-of-the-box, but since we needed to have the data on our servers due to requirements imposed by our partners their open source solution was a good option that we had up and running in a matter of days. There are many features covering all important aspects to manage a hostel or similar property and it is easy to administer (although the user interface sometimes feel a bit outdated) and for the past three years it has been working flawlessly.

Cons

It does not look visually appealing out of the box so you will need to do some tweaking if you have a hotel/hostel and want it to look good.

I use this software every day to manage my hotel: planning, invoice, booking engine on internet.

Pros

Using this software is a real pleasure when you use it, you understand immediately that the person who has done it, knows very well what the work to manage a hotel is. When you need some information or help, you understand that you are directly speaking with the developer, so you don't lost your time with technical service level 1, level 2 !!! With this software, you can manage all your hotel (camping, apartment for rent, in fact, everything that can be rented ). you can manage your hotel from the reservation of the client until his departure. Of course, you can put every day in his room when he takes some extra (drinks, ... you manage your hotel directly on internet from everywhere in the world, the internet booking engine is very complete. You can connect your planning and import reservations from booking portal. The first two years I was not very sure of the quality and seriousness of this company, so I took a dedicated server to put my site and the software on. But after, I understood that it was better for me to use my time doing my job and not playing with a dedicated server. So, I took their hosting service all included; update, booking engine, After comparing several similar software, I chose this one for 2 reasons 1 ) It is software that adapts to your way of working and not you who you adapt to it. 2 ) The price is about 14 times cheaper than a software with the same function and same service. It is easy to use and intuitive.

EASY TO USE WITH A FEW CLICKS

I have full control of reservations of my hotel (client, history, statistics), no double bookings, and I have saved money from the booking engine to my website.

Pros

Anyone can use it even people with basic computer knowledge. It has many functions but you can choose to use the ones you really need. You can keep it very simple (basic reservation manager) or you can do more complex things depending on your need (statistics, stock rooms, POS). If you are an advanced user you can even create your own reports, automated emails, invoices etc. It works also as channel manager with Booking.com, Expedia, Octorate and sites with "ical". HotelDruid also provides a booking engine to your website, customised to your need without any comition. Totaly recommended and you can have it in 5 languages, depending on each user. I am using this software many years now, I am very satisfied, it never crashes, and every year are new functions and updates.

Cons

Graphics could be improved but the way it now makes it very light and fast to any devices without using much internet traffic.

I manage to everything, but sometimes it takes a lot of time, is geeky. OK for me, but usability co

everything. We worked manually with shared spreadsheets before and this as a total mess. Besides that, HotelDruids gives a commune form to the work flows, no mater whom ever is partially treating the reservations.

Pros

price/performance is top. i evaluate the PMS market 3 to 4 times every year and haven't com across another product which offers so much at so little price. We totally depend on this as a small sized property and hope we can carry on as it is for long time.

Cons

Entry level is high, probably for someone without technical background too high. Once your over it, it's rock solid and stable, but you have to run after the capabilities and still after month of use still get surprised of what HotelDruid is capable of => Lack of documentation and training.

Very good PMS Hotel with Engine booking.

I can control reservations from anywhere using my mobile.

Pros

I use HotelDruid, because I have used many hotel management programs, and the truth is that it is the best. It is a very complete program, and is delivered with the source code.

Cons

I don't know anything against. The truth is that it has no competitor on equal terms.

Sometimes it is hard to learn. Absolute priceworthy.

Pros

OpenSource so you can host it on your own server, this gives flexibility. Hosting with interface to booking.com is absolutely top, other products are much expensive. The monthly fee for another product is as high as the yearly fee for Digitaldruid-hosting.

Cons

Lack of documentation, no accounting available, only print invoices. Many good features can not be used because there is no documentation.

We get more bookings because of more accurate availability, and less overbookings.

Pros

The Channel manager works like a dream, there are many features wich can be implemented in a later stadium.
