BambooHR is a cloud-based human resources (HR) software service for small and midsize businesses. BambooHR offers small and growing companies a human resource information system (HRIS) that includes an applicant tracking system (ATS) and HRIS tools to manage all aspects of the employee lifecycle.

BambooHR provides HR process automation tools that are accessible in several languages and multiple currencies. The platform allows HR professionals and managers to track organizational data such as employee turnover and retention.

BambooHR also provides customization services, multiple administrator seats, user support and the ability to maintain inactive employees. Administrators can provide access to all employees or limit access to only those in the company that need it.

Pricing is subscription-based depending on the number of employees plus a one-time implementation fee.

I would highly recommend Bamboo for companies. It is a great and helpful resource.

Pros

I love being able to see an organizational chart of employees to find their information and what department they fall under.
I love being able to easily request time off and see my time off history in terms of PTO, Work Related Time Off, or Work from Home
I can easily access training materials that my company asks me to complete.

Cons

Bamboo has been very easy to use. I do not have any cons that I have run across thus far. It has worked well for me as a company employee.

If you need to be FULLY integrated, this may not be the right solution for you - you would have look at their partnerships prior to implementation. But the integrations they lack, they have made up for it with the tools the provide.

Pros

We experienced a disaster when we migrated from Zenefits to another HRIS. While we experiencing such challenges, we found BambooHR and made the immediate switch. It has been a huge, pleasant adjustment for our company! After dealing with the customer service from Zenefits and the overall issues with the other HRIS, we finally landed in a place that provides a great product and great customer service that suits our needs. The implementation was incredibly smooth. Our rep, was knowledgeable, helpful, friendly, available, efficient, loyal to the brand, etc... She went above and beyond on all of her commitments, worked hard to keep us on track, and was available throughout all of implementation. Once we were in the product, I was concerned about not having an assigned Account Manager. But the customer service desk is well trained and a wealth of knowledge, so we have not needed an assigned account manager. Reports are incredibly easy to access, company metrics are incredibly easy to understand, the features provided solve all of our business needs, and employees enjoy using the product. Time off works well, the app is super helpful, the esign feature makes any HR project easier to complete, the approvals have kept all the correct parties in the loop. Onboarding has been a major improvement - new hires get to see their teammates before their first day, which new hires have loved! No glitches every time. So reliable. Lastly, they don't have contracts. They are a month-to-month service.

Cons

We wish there was more flexibility for integration, but I understand why they are choosy with their partnerships. We have to manually upload data into our payroll which has caused some errors. Also, the approvals aren't flexible. It's either all or nothing meaning - if a single participant involved in a multilevel workflow is out of the office, the entire approval is bypassed. I would like the flexibility to approve on the behalf of the absent individual while allowing the other participants to still play their part. Outside of that, we are very happy with the product.

Great product for the money and is very impressive with new hires as well.

Pros

The product is easy to use and reporting is very simple as well. Support is able to add fields and pages on the fly to customize the product for your organization's use. It is a full life-cycle HR product from applicant tracking to off-boarding of employees. We are using all of the features including the training tracking and custom notifications.

Cons

Wish there was more flexibility in creating offer letters - able to save as a draft, which we require approval before sending.

If you want to be creative and innovative in HR, this software is very good. Focus on the Employee Journey.

Pros

Outstanding customer support, no tickets! You can solve and create everything by chating. All the employees giving support are kind and always happy to help. Extremely agile if you compare it with other softwares. Every month you have new features. They also share the research they do with great partners. I implemented in Argentina and Brazil and was a little bit worried because they don't have much presence in LATAM. I was positively surprised by the flexibility and easyness of the software.

Cons

They are not use to having different countries but they are working on it. Some reports could be better.

Ease of use. Implementation was fast and BambooHR did most of the work. We had weekly follow-up phone calls. After each phone call my implementation manager sent me a detailed email letting me what my outstanding items were.

The applicant features are also a huge plus! It has changed the way we review candidates.

Pros

Before Bamboo HR, our PTO process was a headache. We had multiple requests and forms that needed to be signed off by different managers. With Bamboo HR, the process is so easy. Now PTO requests and approvals are so simple and easy to track. The built-in PTO tracker automatically updates employee's records and keeps a record of all requests and days off.

Cons

The simplicity of the software program is a plus and a minus. It makes it very easy to learn but I do wish it had more customization features and functions.

It's a godsend for the hiring process. And it really helps us centralize where a lot of HR info lives. And being able to set up signature templates for forms and the onboarding/offboarding checklists are fantastic. But it's not the cheapest. Still with it though.

Pros

It's so great to have a centralized place to organize all this info. Before we were keeping things in hard copy folder, random folders on our server, etc. This is definitely more organized.

And I love the signature templates and the way you can set up an onboarding and offboarding process. For a small team like mine, you don't do that stuff very often, and now I can just click the "onboarding" button, instead of spending a few days trying to remember everything I need to do.

And OMG, it is a godsend for the hiring process. The way you can collect resumes, review canidates, rate them, leave comments, change their status based on where they are in the process, it's AMAZING. It has saved us HOURS and HOURS of time when hiring.

Cons

The cost is a little steep. And sometimes that hurts when people seem to keep forgetting that it's there for them to reference. And we pay extra for the reviews, which can be great when you use them, but they take so much time that sometimes we skip them.

BambooHR worked for us as a small, single location company for some time and performed all of the basic HRIS functions well. Document storage is really easy, employee profiles were clean and easy to use, and access provisions were easy to set up.

Cons

We moved away from BambooHR after it lacked customisation for some features that were becoming very important to us, such as creating separate public/bank holiday calendars to cater for international and remote employees and those on flexible arrangements. We also didn't really like the rigidness of the Performance functionality so made the move to an alternate provider who had more flexibility around what could be achieved in the platform.

Pros

You have access to many nice to have items in BambooHR that you don't always find in your HR suite. For instance, the ability to see when your teammates are going to be out of the office or the ability to mask your paycheck by moving your cursor. Things like this really help to set BambooHR apart from other HR suites.

Cons

This seems great for small businesses, but I'm not sure how well it would scale for larger businesses. It's a great platform, but it could get messy if you were on a large team or trying to track an organization.
