Not easy to learn- so cumbersome
the email builder needs to be further simplified by integrating real and simple drag and drop.
marketo is expensive and not designed for small businesses.
Doesn't offer free trial so small businesses ng a feel of the product prospective users can't get a feel of what they want to put their money on before investing in it

Marketing automation is a misnomer. There's nothing automatic about drip campaigns.

Pros

Marketo is an extremely powerful tool, and a great way to manage both your communications and your database of prospects. Provides a score for leads based on certain activities.

Cons

There's a major learning curve. At one company we literally had to hire an entire person just to manage Marketo. Expensive and not good for the casual user.

Cons

It's interface can't be considered basic. You must be carefully trained otherwise, it would take time for you to be an expert with it. Also, the cost is a bit higher that other software that does the same thing.

It takes a more strategic approach to targeting prospects with better precision, overall internal organizational alignment, and integrated processes. It allows internal teams to collaborate more effectively, reduces time spent on more administrative task by automating the burdensome up-front tasks, and allows sales and marketing to focus on more strategic objectives - higher quality interactions with the customers, partners, etc. I can't imagine sales/marketing organizations today not leveraging demand-generation and the kinds of SaaS automation that Marketo offers.

Cons

Working with the solution in an existing organization and in demo for a start-up, we have never actually deployed it, so I can't speak to ease of integration. Not a con - just of note.

We had a great experience with our Rep - They were able to help us solve problems and if we got really stuck they were happy to jump on a call and share a screen.

Pros

Freedom! In a single world I didn't find anything I couldn't do. I might need a developer to help make a few tweaks but the system allows you to do ANYTHING. And because it has an open API you can connect it to basically any tool you want to use.

Cons

I got tired of having to always find a way to make it work with our tools. We had several home grown systems and connecting all the dots was really frustrating. But thats more our problem than a problem with Marketo

Overall though the experience with the product is going well. It works well for the team and company as it integrates with the tools we use on a daily basis.

Pros

What I like best about the software is that it integrates with Salesforce and for my demand generation team this is extremely helpful and useful. This allows to create reporting views and set up campaigns through both.

Cons

The tool itself seems a little archaic and little hard to navigate. When I wanted to get more training and get certified I found you had to pay for it. I have used other marketing tools where you can get certified without shelling out a ton of money.

Cons

This service seems quite simple, but in fact, Marketo is not very intuitive and for the user is quite difficult to understand the functions at first. Some elements are not logical, which forces the user to simply memorize the sequence of actions, because otherwise, he has to spend a lot of time figuring out what to do. Thus, Marketo is not always a practical service. It requires some time so that the user can adapt to the peculiarities of the work of this tool.

I've used multiple marketing automation platforms and they all have their pros and cons. What I love about Marketo is how easy it is to use and navigate through different campaigns. You can edit an email, create a campaign, or pull a report all in one place instead of navigating through separate sections of the platform, making it a seamless, easy-to-use solution! Once you learn the language and terms like "smart list", you can easily navigate through the fields with no problem.

Cons

It is simple to use but one thing I miss is having a flow chart/diagram drawn out with all of the different steps of a campaign. This is especially helpful when you have to create nurture emails and the streams can be quite complicated, so having things drawn out help with the building process.

Pros

I love that it is an integrated marketing tool where you can manage your customers, comunicate with them and use different solutions such as email, forms, landing pages, ect. The best part of it is that you can do it all by yourself and adjust your communication to your customer lifecycle.


Cons

I don’t love the user experience. It was not very user friendly or intuitive (in my opinion). Seems a bit clunky and I do prefer other platforms.
